@@PokemonRangerBoy12 true but it has to be done at some point. It could be a side event and the movie is solely focused on Ash becoming a pokémon master, and nothing says "pokémon master" more than befriending and catching arceus, also his Pikachu is long overdue for a bond phenomenom *(or in my case a new "mithical" worthy form)* i always imagined that his Pikachu would get a power that allows it to deal damage with his thunderbolt specificaly to any pokémon type. Like a master form or something a it's granted by arceus. In a desperate attempt to save ash and his pokémon from the main villain and his goons, imagine all the villains he encountered so far joining forces to take over the world and get their revenge on ash. But team magma and aqua are double agents since they withnessed what happens when they tamper with powers they can't handle. . . Then again i imagine too much but, if THIS happens imma buy all 2gen versions of all 2regional pokémon games after sword and shield.🤣🤣🤣
      I mean it tho.
If His Pikachu gets two abilities like Calirex *(static and omni thunder or something)* and a new form with stats compared to mega mewtwo y, that would be AMAZING.

I honestly just thought XYZ felt like a conclusion compared to the rest because it felt like the story the studio wanted to tell was very self-contained. They wanted it to be a personal journey of a group of friends rather than a narrative with a bigger picture. That's why it never had any older characters or Pokemon returning or ties to the previous series. It was it's own little show.

I will always see XYZ as the official ending because just by the art style you can tell they were slowly aging Ash up and they never said he was 10 anymore we just assumed that but in Journeys they said he was 10 again which just doesn't feel right cause there is no way he has traveled to 6 regions was was still 10 for journeys

XYZ IS the true ending of Ash. It feels like the writers planned to cut the budget of the anime series after XYZ, so as a result, they wanted to make the XY/XYZ seasons great one last time before sinking low. But it just doesn’t make sense. If you wanted to garner more people to watch the anime and KEEP the same people for future seasons, then why the sudden quality drop? It would’ve been better if they kept the style or if the style never existed in the first place. It’s a huge disappointment and so confusing.

  • @carlossamaniego9937

If the ending was directly after XYZ and still in the art style, in my opinion that would've made it more emotional because it was the peak in every category. In addition, if they made the new anime in the Sun and Moon story then maybe it'd polish better than actual Sun and Moon. Then afterwards when Journeys would come, Ash would've been reintroduced, covering the region to region aspect it should've been while keeping the integrity of Ash and everyone else.

    • @legobrick1356
      @legobrick1356 Год назад +5

Preach dude! That or finally letting the boy grow up! I have two different barebones concepts regarding a second-generation where Ash and Serena's kid or kids would go on an adventure of their own.
      1) Possibly twins (one male, one female) who are both participating in the gym challenge and embody their parents' styles. The male could be all about strategy and putting on a show, while the female twin is pretty much a tomboy that tries to brute-force her way to victory. It would give the potential of each of them losing a gym battle all because they were too rigid in their methods, forcing them to learn from one another to succeed in the rematch. And maybe they don't even know that their father is a Champion due to him keeping a rather low profile or him and Serena doing their best to hide it from them (a sense of humility but also to protect them). They could even end up encountering the children of Ash's other travel companions like May or Dawn. The whole thing could've been a world-spanning league challenge where they would have to battle the newest region's gyms first, before battling against a collection of gym leaders from across the many regions (sort of like an All-Star Challenge)
      2) The anime centered around a new protagonist and their friends, eventually bringing in Ash and Serena's kid into the squad with them hiding who their parents are.

@@LittleAl016 What makes you say that? Serena was the only one who actually made a move on him and gave him an indication of a confession at the end of the Kalos saga. If anything though, I think we can at least agree Iris would be least likely, given neither have any signs of attraction at all. I can see why in regards to Misty, May, and Dawn at least, since I'm pretty sure he's been shown to at least blush at people asking if they were a couple (I think. I haven't watched the Hoenn or Sinnoh series in a hot minute so I don't know for sure, but I know it was the case with Misty).

    • @LittleAl016
      @LittleAl016 Год назад +2

@@legobrick1356 Because Ash isn't interested in Serena in any way. During the XY anime, he never shows the same kind of affection towards Serena that she does towards him. And despite all of the affection Serena shows towards Ash, the "Ash" that Serena feels the most strongly towards isn't a person, but rather a figment of her imagination. (TV Tropes calls this phenomenon "Loving A Shadow".)
Plus, when they reunited in Journeys, they barely interacted with each other, let alone had a single romantic moment together, with Ash even ignoring her at first. This can be seen as a tacit admission from the showrunners themselves that "AmourShipping", which is so ironically named by those who don't understand the concept of "amour", never really clicked with the target audience. And, let's be honest here, the whole thing about Serena having met Ash before at Oak's summer camp is a weak justification for her having a crush on Ash due to the utter lack of mention of or reference to Serena in literally everything that preceded the XY anime, and is a clear-cut case of "tell, don't show" due to the viewer not having any reason to believe that Ash and Serena work well together, or, in the case of the fact that seeing Ash on TV made her leave home, believe that Serena knows Ash from somewhere, because of the sheer lack of textual support for it.

@@LittleAl016 You make a good argument. In any case, no matter if it was Misty, May, Dawn, or Serena; I still think the ideas of mine before would've been interesting still (and still probably preferred by the fandom). Having two people in the main group going through the gym challenge at the same time would shake things up still.
The second of my scenarios though is looking much more appealing as a whole though, as something like that would make for an epic reveal later on. Having the primary protagonist meeting the yet-to-reveal child of Ash and then dropping that bombshell later on would've been cool.

I totally agree! XYZ really felt was the real ending of Ash his character. His XY character was literally build up from all his experience in the past 5 regions. The change to SM didnt make any sense and recently they also admitted that they changed Ash's character because he didnt acted like a normal 10 year old. Which also meant that they really made Ash a different character in terms of personality. A shame cause they should have made a new protagonist in my opinion then. Cause Ash was never that not even in OG. Also in AG and DP he became more and more mature compared to when he started. To watch SM then is so weird to me. A shame they made that change cause SM as a stand alone series is good but not as a continuation of Ash.

It's a collection of different self-contained stories per generation that are not intended to be watched by the same audience. This is why SM Ash, the 2nd best version of Ash, follows XY Ash, the worst version of Ash, instead of OS Ash, the best version of Ash.

So I guess that those ending seasons was to show us that Ash wasn't ready to move on so the journey(s) epilogue were made to do just that...show to kids the meaning of growth and responsibilities... but that is just my opinion.

    • @LittleAl016
      @LittleAl016 Год назад +1

Nah. It was 100% telling us that we need to let Ash go. Letting Ash go was the expectation that the showrunners had of us the moment they decided to keep him around after Orange Islands. And they wanted us to let Ash go so that they can focus on an entirely new generation of child viewers, as was the expectation of shows like the Pokémon Anime.
Unfortunately, the rise of social media revealed that a sizable and most notably VOCAL portion of the total audience, which is a minority compared to the target audience (as evidenced by the ratings the entire XY anime actually got) despite its size, was still far too attached to Ash and his journey despite Ash's journey having no planned endpoint and despite Ash increasingly overstaying his own welcome with each new generation he's around. They clung to him as both their surrogate and their wish fulfillment, and this is why the backlash and subsequently SM and Journeys happened.
"How DARE you make Ash accessible to younger viewers when that's not what we've come to expect from him! How DARE that Ash still lose and make mistakes when he should be past that by now! How DARE some b****** emasculate Ash by teasing him and calling him a kid!" That's the attitude that the showrunners, especially the newer ones that were brought onboard during SM, most likely came to despise. Especially since it limits their creative freedom in regards to what they want to do with Ash. So they ended up retiring him.
The mindset was that if these fans, such as the one who made this video, could truly never grow up and leave Ash behind as they did, then the only way to stop their complaining was for Ash to grow up and leave THEM behind, clearing the way for a new main character for a new generation of viewers that is unburdened by expectations of decades-old fans. Which is also why the last ten episodes of Journeys exists, to ease those fans into fully accepting Ash's departure. But given that there's still a backlash against Ash leaving, and that those same fans wanted the Pokémon Anime to end on a note of battling and testosterone-fueled power fantasies, I'm not surprised that the showrunners did what they did.

  • @mang4260

Well, the ending of XYZ, for me, knowing what came after, that was the end of the anime.
Because they totally abandoned the whole concept of doing something as a franchise ongoing for years after that.
They did this kind of 20th movie reboot, they choose a totally different vibe and concept in all departments for Alola, that felt at no point connected to anything, next we have Journey...
My point is, from gen 1 until end of XYZ, every saga, every cycle, felt like something connected. even with the goodbyes, the brand new start, they still managed to introduce a new saga respecting the previous one, by writing some kind of transitional departure.
But when Alola started, it was really pure non-sense.
When they decided to abandon the "continuity" with the movies, it was the end for me. Nothing post XYZ (including all i saw before, even Unys), was related. It was just use of characters, with no vibe, no spirit.
Change of pace, change of background, it was always a thing existing between sagas. The first big change was basically gen 3 (gen 1-2 anime were basically one thing). But even so, we had a concept, something respected trough years of cycles.
And again, for me, a movie included inside the current anime was really something i loved. It was promoted trough the anime, it was ongoing during the anime, it was here as something relevant to the current generation...
Even when it was movies like Ranger (9th film), basically side story. It was still the crew, the region...
And... The change, so sudden, post XYZ, for what reason? They totally broke it.
As an anime, for me, it totally lost its way post XYZ, but not because i considerate it as the most accomplished saga, but because after that, they just didn't care anymore, thinking how to propose something with the background and memories they have.
Post XYZ, the anime was basically "TABULA RASA".
If they intended to let Ash go anyway, for me, they should have develop a bit the situation post XYZ, like saying Ash will continue, some time skip or else, and at this point, re-start with the new project with Riko, and maybe propose a little cameo with Ash a bit more mature at some point during the new anime.
Because Ash, as a protagonist i followed trough 6 gen, literally disappeared post XYZ. He was maybe here, but he was a shadow, like a fan-use.
At no point in Alola or Journey, i had this feeling i got from 20 years (whatever my age, this has nothing to do with nostalgia), the feeling i follow the adventures of Ash in his quest to be Pokemon Master.
Alola was maybe a good "new vibe", but they really shouldn't have done that this way post XYZ. It felt like a totally other show, and as a franchise ongoing trough so long, you had to respect the concept. It felt like Teen Titans GO beside Teen Titans. Maybe same characters, but at no point you can considerate that's the same anime (cartoon).
I think Alola or Journey were never part of something i followed for so long with the same perspective: this is the anime about Pokemon, about Ash. When you change so much the surroundings, you can't call it the same thing anymore.
It's like if you run a bakery, then suddenly, you sell basically sushis, but you keep the name. You're maybe the same behind the desk, but you clearly don't own the same store anymore.
For me, this is what pokemon anime is:
gen 1 until end of gen 6 -> the bakery you know, with changes, growth, maybe new products, but still bread, maybe new location, but still same store, evolving, or not, but at least recognizable as a brand.
everything post gen 6 -> you just kept the name, and maybe the idea you sell food. But definitely not bread.
I understand people could love Alola or Journey, but as a follower since gen 1, i NEVER would considerate the anime was still "Pokemon". They "used" pokemons and Ash whatsoever, but at no point, that was "Pokemon", in the sense of the anime i followed trough 20 years.
I don't say this was not an anime about pokemons, but they killed the "idea", the spirit, the concept. Not because of a change of tone or background or else, but because they just didn't cared anymore, they just wanted to re-launch it, but keep the characters.
That's also maybe because of that i'm hyped about a fresh new start with Riko and the new anime. If you don't intent to let Ash grow up or have some time skip or propose a situation post win (like what is AFTER winning, how do you become Master in the anime), or if you don't intent to continue the cycle re-start new region, better do other things with new protagonists.
I would have prefer Ash continuing, but it couldn't continue forever. I wouldn't mind some new cycles, but they cornered Ash at some point, by letting him lose in Kalos. I think the best move would have been to make him win Kalos, and there, they could have develop further instead of repeat cycles. Or propose something like "apprentice Master", something you can develop as a new saga.
Alola or Journey, not sagas, just a way to pass time. At no point in both series, i had the feeling "Ash does something here", but just "Ash was here". After all, the whole concept of Alola, the trials, the Z-moves, that was literally irrelevant for the finality. And Journey, well, rank bullshit, going everywhere doing "things", to end with a tournament fan-service, where all opponent just pop up and quit...
Some battles were great, but who would remember Leon? What does it mean for Ash, to defeat Leon? I had more goosebumps when Ash won the Orange League, which was FILLER SAGA ^^.
They proposed "some" good battles in Journey tournament, i don't deny that. But for what? Of course you would watch a battle with Cynthia, or Lance... They're freakin' legend ^^. That doesn't mean it was good for the saga itself. At this point, just propose OVA, with the tournament.
Everything in Journey was basically outside of this tournament, which was the finality. Even major moments like defeating Roy or Drasna were totally irrelevant for the finality, because in the end, Leon was participating ALL the matches.
When you have a N1 to defeat, it doesn't make sense to include him in a tournament in every match, he must be the final opponent, the final boss, not part of the tournament.
And in Alola, the league was so messy, this battle royal concept, for a league? Really? At no point it felt like the saga was relevant because of that, because... If you just has to go the day it starts, this is like not going to school all year, and just going for the final exam. No badges needed, not schedule... A big mess.
To be fair, i felt nothing when Ash won Alola league. Because... He did nothing in Alola. The z-moves were basically the nuke button for everything, when all sagas established Ash isn't the average trainer, he has his own way. Z-moves in the saga, that's just like: "so, when i use it to win".
Anyway, goodbye everyone, that was nice to follow this channel. Good continuation.

Most of us didn't accept it at all and refused to see change to a character who loves Pokemon battles. Best would be either sun and moon ending or diamond and pearl. Sun and moon cause he became a champion and for diamond and pearl it was defeating his most important rival.

DP was the best series overall
And SM we saw Ash having the closest thing to a dad, which was great, and defeating him.
But most people here are just bitter amourshippers

And, you know - Departing from the fact that Ash Ketchum and Pikachu’s story will end on such an imperfect Saga like Journeys, and remembering goodbye with Greninja, I feel like Tetsuo Yajima with this episode in view of the missed perfect moment and the coming changes with SM, tells us a useful lesson: Sometimes the best way out of the situation is just to just take and leave

Xyz was where I stopped watching and for me it’s where the anime finished. I Kind of see sun and moon and journeys as a split timeline even though I know it’s not just makes sense in my head. I mean xyz this guy looks at least 14-15 where as in s and m looks about 8. And the end to our own way quote. I think this was the anime team saying this is our end now it’s the corporate ending they want. Maybe I’m looking to much into this but for me that message was coded. I don’t blame them for how the rest turned out I blame the higher ups

Nah. Ash looked his own age in SM. It's XY that's the split timeline.
