    I would like to know if the body butter comes on a little oily at first? I make body butter and I know that they come on oily at first and your skin absorbs it, but I use Shea butter, mango butter and coconut oil and of course my carrier oils and essential oils. I have never used cocoa butter and it seemed as you rubbed it on your arm and hands that it didn't come on oily or was it that I didn't notice. I was curious as to whether or not the cocoa butter makes it less oily. I do make great butters also. We can all learn from each other . What I do to lessen the oily feel is add 2 teaspoons of arrowroot powder or cornstarch when the butters are melted and mix until it dissolves and then refrigerate and then the rest of the steps. Thanks for sharing. Loved your video and you are very beautiful young lady. Keep up the great work!

    • @TheSquishyMonster
      @TheSquishyMonster  6 лет назад

      Hi, Margarita. I used raw cacao and have normal skin. I 'd say the absorption rate comes down to what skin type you are =)

    Thank you for sharing! That's the kind of texture I was looking for which I failed to attain with my recipe. Does yours stay fluffy and creamy? How do you store them? I live in France and my oils ( coconut oil, argan, jojoba, and avocado) will not get creamy and will harden when put in the fridge or stay liquid at room temperature! :(

    • @TheSquishyMonster
      @TheSquishyMonster  7 лет назад

      Hi, Jacqueline! I'm in the tropics and it's pretty much always HOT here so I keep mine in the fridge. The melting point of coco oil is about 75 degrees so you will have to adjust accordingly.

    • @jacquelineissenmann1045
      @jacquelineissenmann1045 7 лет назад

      I was finally able to attain the desired texture by freezing it halfway BUT unfortunately, it hardens in the fridge and goes back to a liquid state at room temperature! Maybe by adding beeswax would help retain the texture???

    • @TheSquishyMonster
      @TheSquishyMonster  8 лет назад

      +Rachel Isawesome Hi, Rachel! Question, did you use lavender essential oil? Next question, did you weigh everything out accurately? Since it's a whipped product, a little goes a long way. Additionally, since it's oiled based, it will definitely provide a bit more slip. A lot of viewers have told me that they've found cocoa butter with added ingredients in it. I highly recommend pure/raw cacao butter instead. Let me know! =)

    • @TheLifelover12

I make this too but with cocobutter and coco essential oil. I do use 3 oils in other recipes similar to what you did here. • @TheSquishyMonster
      @TheSquishyMonster  6 лет назад +1

      You could. I would stay away from the scalp though and keep it concentrated at the ends. Also, unless you have crazy brittle damaged hair, I would reach for a lighter oil like jojoba...argan if you need even more moisture.

      ***** Actually, grapeseed, olive, coconut and argan oils are great for the hair. There are lots of beneficial oils out there. I swear by my homemade regimen for growing out my hair in less than a year.

    What is "cacao butter" ?

    • @TheSquishyMonster
      @TheSquishyMonster  8 лет назад +7

      Hi, Betty! It's the raw form of cocoa butter. The latter is processed with heat applied to it so you lose some of its precious benefits. You can find out more in the description box below each of my videos =)

    Hi,is it possible to use coconut butter instead of cacao butter?

    • @TheSquishyMonster
      @TheSquishyMonster  8 лет назад

      +Cathrine Cowley Definitely. It's a personal choice however, the cacao I use is raw, less processed and retains more of it's value.

      +TheSquishyMonster I will be buying cacao butter. I wanted to know if it was possible to use coconut butter as I already have it in my cupboard and I need to use it up :-) will it be somewhat the same consistency?

    How long is the shelf life for these??

    • @TheSquishyMonster
      @TheSquishyMonster  7 лет назад +3

      Hi, Trixie! I live in a hot, tropical climate so I've been keeping mine in the fridge and my last batch has now lasted me well over 5-6 months. The key: not to contaminate it and use a sterilized jar with a tight fitting lid and keep it cool and out of direct light. You can also look into shelf life extending essential oils like rosemary.

    No, it will not remain "soft and spreadable". It deflates within 2-4 weeks.

    • @TheSquishyMonster
      @TheSquishyMonster  6 лет назад

      I live in the tropics and yes, the air will escape as time passes but it will remain malleable pretty much indefinitely depending on what temperature you store it at. If you live in a cooler climate, consider adding more oil. It's the same idea as having to adjust of altitude when baking. Melting points vary depending on location as well.

    cocoa butter = cacao butter

    • @TheSquishyMonster
      @TheSquishyMonster  7 лет назад +2

      The latter is actually a less processed form similar to cacao powder versus cocoa powder. Since it maintains its natural integrity, you're able to absorb more of the benefits from both.
