  • Jonathan is joined by PokerCoaching coach and crusher Justin ‘JustGTO’ Saliba. They discuss and analyze poker hands that both of them played during the US Poker Open at the PokerGO studio in Las Vegas.
These poker hands were all run through PIOsolver which is a piece of poker software that calculates what is the game theory optimal approach when playing poker. Most of the top poker professionals are using solvers in the modern day game of poker to help increase their edge over the field.
Justin discusses the merit in slow playing pocket aces at a certain stack depth and against opponents that have a tendency to bluff. For players that will not often find 3-bet bluffs from the big blind you should look to exploit them by moving all-in rather than just flat calling.
They also discuss the bet sizes that you should be using in 3-bet pots when playing out of position. Small bets work really well as long as you are using the correct range to bet with.
Although it is important to have a strong fundamental poker game you must look for situations to deviate from game theory optimal as you learn more about the opponents you are playing. These deviations will help you take your win rate to the next level at the poker tables!
On this Poker Coaching channel we cover a weekly poker topic to help improve your poker strategy!
In order to take your poker game to the next level it is vitally important you learn all the nuances of the game.
Do you know what ranges of poker hands you should be playing from each position? When should you 3-bet, call or fold? When is the right time to make a hero call or a huge bluff? Do you know how to play preflop, flop, turn & river effectively and how should your poker strategy change depending on the street? What difference does it make if you are playing multi-way vs heads-up?
