Just put the flares on my 2018 Chevy Colorado Z71 this weekend. Wasn't hard to do. I did have to drill 1 hole on the rear passenger side flare. Other than that it was pretty easy going. I watched your video a couple of times and followed your directions. Thanks for posting this video.
Excellent vid! Just used it to install fender flares on my new 2018 Colorado. Buyer Beware: The anchor nuts included with the kit for the upper rear flare fasteners are VERY SHALLOW. They do NOT line up with the pre drilled holes on the flares. Quick tip: test fit the anchor nuts on the flares. you will see that they are too shallow. drill new oversized holes on the flares that line up with the anchor nuts, then proceed with the installation. You can also use the previous fasteners and washers (they fit just fine) to hide the larger holes.
RamMan2017 All the holes in my flares lined up perfectly. Were you using ZR2 flares? Cuz those will require modifications. But regular Z71 fares should line right up.
Thank you thank you thank you. I just got done with my 2017 Colorado. Your video was perfect. I followed your steps, never looked at the GM instructions. Perfect.
Agreed, I definitely prefer the look with the flares. I looked into aftermarket offerings, but I didn't like how far out they extended from the wheel opening. The OEM flares have the perfect amount of overhang
This is a perfect example of an install video. This has the questions answered ahead of time. Great instructions and video! Thank you for the Part #s too. :)
Thank you. I needed to see this before I attempted it because I certainly would have jerked the red tape backing OFF before I hung the flare up there. Good job sir. Now my Cajun Red Tint Z71 has more FLARE!!! HaHa!!!
Yep! Plain and simple install directions. You have some very good advise to make this easier and that silicone idea was something I never would have thought of. Putting them on mine this weekend and this will be a big help! Thanks!!
Fondupot's garage Looks nice! Its hard to tell in your video but does the top of oem flair cover right up to the body line? I have a tiny ding on my quarter panel above my back wheel and because its so close to that body line pdr cant be done. I'm just trying to figure out if oem wheel flair will cover high enough to hide the ding? thx
Yea, they go pretty much right up tot he body lines over the wheels. Look for pictures on the ColoradoFans.com forums, there might be better ones there. Thanks for watching!
I really want that fender flare im not sure if that fit in canyon plus in ebay they dont shipp the item here in canada SK But thank you for the reply👊😎
Thanks very much. The mirrors are Clearview USA towing mirrors. I did a video for this a few months back, the mirrors were part of a promotion with the company and they provided them for me.
Currently I have 2016 Z71 version and having suck a terrible time to try find the fender flares , I’ve looked looked and looked but with no luck , question ? What all years would fit the 2016 version ? I heard only 16,17 will work , I’ve checked my local Chevy dealer nobody has them , I’ve even been looking at auto wreckers hoping to find some on a wrecked truck but no luck , any body have suggestions? Please and thank you
I installed mines over a year ago and they are still holding up. For the fronts, I didn't remove the backing tape that touches the front bumper. This will allow me to remove the bumper without having to worry about he flare being stuck to it. That portion of the flare will be fastened to the bumper with 2 screws.
I realize I’m commenting on a 5 year old video, but I have a reason. The only thing stopping me from installing these on my 2022 Colorado is the nightmares I still have about the fenders on my 2012 JK Wrangler. Can anyone give me a long term update on how these hold up to fading? I don’t want to get into another situation where I have to oil up my fenders every 2 months or else drive around with crappy looking faded grey fenders. Can anyone advise?
There are lots of good products that help keep plastic from fading. Chemical Guys has some. Sadly this truck was totaled 3 years ago, and I no longer have it, so I can't say how the fenders have held up.
Not necessarily. You can remove the adhesive on the flare that goes on the bumper and reinstall it without it. The bolts will hold it in place. I’ve seen others do it.
I do believe the weather tech mud flaps will fit...I ordered mine and it asked if I had fender flares or not. And by the way weather tech mud flaps are no drill and look great....just sayin!
could you possibly give me the vendor name who you bought these from? there's so many and prices are all over the place...I just want to be sure I get the ones like you got...they look great
Personally, I don't like these flares. When I ordered my new Colorado recently, I made sure they were not on the truck. I dont like the look. Looks cheap. I did not want to add a piece of plastic to the body of my truck..LOL
@@fondupot I kinda get what he means but ultimately they do look better and help protect the truck. There are lots of other plastic parts on these trucks including bumpers, mirrors, bed railing, etc. Look at any offroad Tacoma and they have them.

Keep helping us "do it yourself mechanics" your videos are helpful!!!
Thanks Jeffrey
I just installed these on my Colorado a couple weekends ago. I love how they look..definitely what the truck was missing.
Right on. Totally agree. They add protection and a finished look to the truck that I just really like.
Do you know if when you do this to the truck, does it void the car warranty?
@@jhojanrendon6936 I think it can if you drill into it

@@fondupot Z71 kit. Correct GM part numbers. Maybe they swapped parts in the kit since you've used it.
Trying to add a picture after the install but I don't see any way to do it...No worries though. The fenders are on. Looks good.
Thank you thank you thank you. I just got done with my 2017 Colorado. Your video was perfect. I followed your steps, never looked at the GM instructions. Perfect.

i've never seen a Colorado with the GMC Canyon All Terrain wheels. Looks good
One more thing i was wanting to get but haven't gotten around to it, looks so much better.
Agreed, I definitely prefer the look with the flares. I looked into aftermarket offerings, but I didn't like how far out they extended from the wheel opening. The OEM flares have the perfect amount of overhang
Thanks for the video, it's so much clearer than the faded instruction sheet.

That’s what I thought. I think I’m going to give it a shot. Thanks again
George S no problem. Good luck
Thank you sir.. very helpful!
Hi, great video, thanks but i was told the colorado flares were doing on the 2021 elevation canyon too? Thank you for the answer
As far as I know the flares should fit 2021 models as well. Thanks for watching.
Awesome job explaining how to install.

Would this video instructions work on a 2021 Chevrolet Colorado, great video, keep up the good work, thanks.
Should be very similar. Just be sure to verify your part numbers. It may be that there is a different wheel flare part number for 2021.

Hi there thanks for that video,
Where did you buy those fender flare and is there any size for gmc canyon 2016?
I think I bought them on ebay. These should also fit canyons.
I really want that fender flare im not sure if that fit in canyon plus in ebay they dont shipp the item here in canada SK
But thank you for the reply👊😎
Thanks for the vid. Instead of drilling on the back ones like you said.. Which industrial adhesive do you recommend?
3M. Molding tape. Meant for car emblems. Should do the trick nicely.
@@fondupot Wow thanks for the super fast response! Cheers!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
great job and awesome video...Now what kind of mirrors are you running and where did you get them?
Thanks very much. The mirrors are Clearview USA towing mirrors. I did a video for this a few months back, the mirrors were part of a promotion with the company and they provided them for me.
Do you know if when you do this to the truck, does it void the car warranty?
Jhojan Calderon no warranty would be voided doing this.
THANKS!!! The instructions I recieved look like they got printed on a 70's zerox machine. Nothing is legible.
Glad to help. Thanks for watching.
Mine didn't come with replacement screws. OEM in the OEM box and instructions.
Shame. It should have. I’d contact the seller your purchased them from.
Having trouble despite dealer installed flaps of mud from our road spraying on sides of truck. Will this cure that?
It will help slightly.
I had that same mud splash issue with my ZR2. I installed Rokblokz mud flaps and problem solved.
Nice video and truck looks great. In the final shot of the whole truck do you have a level/lift?
Thanks. The truck was stock height in that last pic. Although I’m adding a level soon. So stay tuned for new videos over the next couple weeks.
@@fondupot Thanks! Looks great. I'm considering a level soon as well. Not sure what size I'm going to do yet.
Good stuff. I really enjoy your Colorado vids.
Redcell60 thanks very much! And thanks for watching!
Nice vid. Just a question. Can I install that in a GMC Canyon? Pls reply
Eway Rendon thanks. Yes you can. The parts will fit
Do you think these would work with a 2019 Canyon All Terrain long bed? it didn't appear to impact the fuel door, which was my main concern. Thanks!
@@geoprojourney3804 they will work

They OEM ones may have been discontinued. So you may have to go for like Bushwackers. Here is a listing for a set.

What is the part number for the wheel flares for a 2018 Colorado Z71
James Jeffrey Coleman check the video description, it’s also listed in the video.
Having them painted to match the body would make them perfect.
True. I do like the contrast look of them unpainted though.
I like it. Looks great!
The Car Crazy Guy thanks man.

I sorta wish I did that. I might have to remove the bumper one day to mess with headlights. I'll figure something out.
Do you have pictures of what you did.
Can you still install mud flops with the wheel flares on?
To be honest. I am not sure
Nice! Where did you get those wheels? The look like the Canyon wheels.
They are. I found them on Craigslist.
Where did you order these? And what part number will I need for my 2019 Colorado front and back.. thanks in advance
Check the description for part numbers. Bought them on gmpartsdirect.com
do you know the thickness it add to the fender?
William St-Pierre probably 1” or 1-1/4”
Fondupot's Garage okay it’s great! Ive plan put 1 1/2" spacer so I think it will be okay
Will these fit long bed?
Yes, I think so.

Alejandro Lopez eventually yes!
Thank you! Is there a link you can send me? I have to change them soon!
Alejandro Lopez I don’t have a video made yet. But eventually I will make one.
How do these work if you have mud flaps
I don't think you can have both.
Here is a link to purchase these fender flares, fits 2015-2020 Colorados and Canyons: amzn.to/38lxnF8
Will not fit on ZR2 Colorado.
Will the flares collect salts and dirt which will rust the metal panels over time?
Xyooj Vaaj I am not blessed with the gift of future-sight.
Will these work on a 2022 gmc canyon?
I believe so yes.
What leveling kit did you go with and was it a 1in or 2in?
michael valdez I don’t have a leveling kit. My truck is stock
you can get the leveling kit from rough country.com I bought mine from them and my truck looks awesome.
What kind of bull bar you have?
Eway Rendon i dont have any bull bar at all.
Beautiful truck...👍
Thanks! It’s sad it was recently totaled.
What kind of wheels are you running?
larry lucas very clearly discussed in the video.
i want to put the canyon wheels on mine
Matt McGhee I was lucky to find a set locally for $400 with tires. Only 2000 miles on them.
Fitment for this says they are Colorado only but I have a Canyon. Anyone able to install these on a Canyon?
