The Fz6 is not a beginner bike! It's a detuned 2nd gen R6 motor but still puts out 100hp. I had one as a second bike and sure, around town if you don't push the RPMs above 6k, it's as non-eventful as anything else out there. Start pushing the revs higher, you better hang on tight. Crazy acceleration and much more comfortable than a R6 to boot.

" I Can actually have fun somewhere around the speed limit"... goes 90 in a 25

That R6 would be a weapon in the hands of someone who knows how to ride it better than I do 😜 However, I'd take the FZ6. Still plenty fast, but so much more comfortable.

The bike not having as much potential as a super-sport is the reason I like it! Not strictly a downside for anybody looking for a sporty bike with a more mild seating position, set up for the 90% of riding you do which is at normal speeds, on normal roads. For the slight downside of "we're not fast enough!," you're still plenty fast, 0-60 in 3.5 ish seconds is plenty fast for a beginner

The FZ6 was quite the machine, that motor is basically a nearly full spec 2nd gen R6 motor, before the R6 ended up with a 16,000rpm powerband. It's successor in the lineup is the FZ-09 or FJ-09/Tracer 900. The FZ6 has 100hp on the nose, as compared to the 71hp of the FZ-07 and 115hp of the FZ-09.

A good rider on a FZ6 can slice n dice with the best of em on twisty roads. It's got great useable low to mid range power from that R6 motor and it's comfortable all day long.

Calling a 100hp motorcycle beginner is dangerous.

It’s a whole different bike when you get above 7,000 rpm.

Watching this after my 1st year of owning a ‘06 fz6 with the same exhaust. First bike ever still having so much fun on it. It’s a rocket when you get up into the powerband

“This is a good beginner bike”...”this thing is a wheelie machine!!”

I can't quit mine. It's been so loyal and great to me, and I have minimal space to work on a bike.

Just bought an 07 FZ6 and was looking for good videos on them. Love that you open with “words of wisdom”!

Jus bought an '08 a month ago as my first bike. While it can scream, it's tame enough to ease your way into. Took me about three weeks to get past the novice phase. The only thing I really had to learn was the short friction zone which I actually like now. I've only stalled once at a redlight. Super fun, user friendly bike.

I had one, a 2007 red. It was my first bike. I never fully enjoyed it or appreciated it as much as I should have, and I wish I could have it back.

3rd gear around 8 or 9k rpm is where I feel the most power with mine. 2007. I love it. Awesome bike and I got it dirt cheap.

I still have my from new Black 2005 FZ6 with nearly 90,000 miles on and it`s still going great. It`s ideal for me to ride around the roads here in the UK and a few times around Europe for a week or 2.
