    Stock 0-100km/h times in the 335i is 5.5s/5.6s. With a stage-1 this goes to around 5.0s but doesn't necessarily change so much a Stage-2 as tires and suspension starts to matter more as grip becomes the problem. The times in this video are terrible and I'd be worried that the engine or transmission has some major issues.

  • @leoluigi18

    It’s not a “hot air intake” due to the fact that it’s not going directly into the engine from the intake like non turbo cars. It’s going to the the turbo, compressed by the turbo then cooled by the INTERCOOLER then going into the engine. So end result the air is going in the engine cooler then it originally started.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 года назад +4

      However it is sucking hot air from inside the engine bay. The air the turbos are compressing is potentially less dense than if the air was coming from outside the engine bay. It's certainly not a cold air intake :P I think the issue with these and why the opinion is so polarising. In colder climates where the ambient air is colder and more dense, the restrictive airbox lid is less of a problem as you can make more power with a smaller volume of air. In warmer climates we need a larger volume of the warmer ambient air to make the same power. So we benefit from the DCI's more so than people in colder places. We are all for DCIs and we do make more power even on a lightly tuned car. But i know people in cold places have the opposite results.... In reality, does the 5-10hp difference matter... no. But the DCIs definitely sound cool.

    • @leoluigi18
      @leoluigi18 4 года назад

      I have completely agree with you there, that amount of horsepower doesn’t make a difference at all and like you said “they sound cool” heck yeah they do. My N54 is currently sitting with full bolt-on with JB4 and MHD back end flash, haven’t dyno’d yet to see how much horsepower it makes but loving every time I drive it.

    I would have thought it'd cause more heat soaking?

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 года назад +2

      It definitely causes heat soak. I think the mech that installed that pipe back in the day didn’t realise how the BMW factory cold air duct worked (I think his last name was Kilmer something.....). It’s gone from a reasonable setup to now having a smaller diameter pipe, sucking air between the radiator support panel and the bonnet, instead of fresh from behind the grille........not to mention not sealing on the air box.....
      Regardless the car still pulled pretty hard. We’re going to get that same car on a decent surface and really see what we can get out of the MHD setup.

    Great video, looking forward to the next vid comparison
    There seem to be something wrong with the shifts. Seem extremely slow shifting.
    I drive a manual with a race clutch. When I do quick shifts, it kinda upsets the chassis a bit and the car wants to not go straight. Kind of the opposite of an automatic perhaps.

    • @Saif0412
      @Saif0412 4 года назад +1

      Yeah for some reason this particular ZF6 speed is shifting really lazy.
      Maybe the Transmission needs servicing, Sleeves, Solenoids or clutch pack.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 года назад

      Well it comes down to whether you want them for sound or performance. For sound, im in two minds. Every time i get in this car, i love the exhaust note compared to my Milltek. The Milltek is not much louder than stock at all. But even this with just a muffler delete is sometimes a little too loud. Cold starts in the morning shake my entire house. So it can be a little too much for some. Perfect world would be a valved system, but they get even more expensive. I think you can get the muffler delete done on the cheap, go for it and see what you think. If it ends up too much go the milltek. For performance milltek all the way.

      Having 2 people in the car, not great tyres and our Qld heat all combine slow the cars down. We also time with no roll out using a vbox, so it’s a true 0-100kmh. You can take about 3/4 of a second off If you time the speedo, but that is. It accurate.
