as someone with a LOT of health issues, i am so so so grateful for the medical knowledge we have today (and the incredible researchers, nurses, doctors, surgeons etc)
Lol If any impactful religious texts, constitutions, literary masterpieces or whatever were written today, 100% they’d have ads in them. It’s our whole lives it seems
I've been binge watching your content for the past week and you mentioned in one of your videos that you're from Knaresborough which is very close to where I'm from and coincidentally, is where I first gained a huge interest in history whilst visiting Knaresborough castle and Old Mother Shiptons cave as a kid. Small world, eh?
You think your getting me with these long ass adds in the beginning but your actually helping finish the dishes before I sit on the couch when your video begins you SoB 😘
Nah there’s another video of his where it doesn’t start until 3:40. He is getting insane with these ads though. Very tonedeaf on acceptable length for an ad. He’s at the point though where whenever I see a video of his, I just assume it doesn’t start until 3 minutes in, which is NOT a good reputation to have
@@Kellie-s3bwhen you get paid for a sponsor, you don’t have to make it 3+ minutes every video you make lol. Most creators I see nowadays try to keep it around a minute. It is the LENGTH of the ad which is the problem. Getting paid for sponsor is not the issue here.
I'm not sure how long people survived after such surgery; but many skulls have been recovered that showed new bone growth at the site of the surgery so some patients must have recovered or lingered and not died immediately.
That intro and ad segment was SO LONG!! I was trying to watch this before bed and nearly fell asleep before the information even started. Maybe save the ad for the end instead?
If you are able to afford to eat every day you’re in the top 15% wealthiest demographic on the planet. Modern day plebeians have an infinitely better quality of life than medieval nobility did.
This video is very interesting for me, as I am currently writing a story and I am not an expert in medicine, so it is hard for me to know what methods were available pre "modern medicine" for certain operations.
3:52 This is a terrible text animation. It doesn't even make sense to use. Please don't. But this is one of the most fun history channels I'm subbed to, so I don't just want to comment my negativity bias. These videos got me through Covid quarantine while in rehab... Not great. MedMad made it much better. The text reveal is ridiculous though.
I really like your content. I am currently studying English and I watch your videos to improve my English. Do you have scripts? If so, I’d really appreciate it whether you could provide some of then so that I could inhance my language skills. I find your accent amazing as well.
I love your vids, I think you're quite good at writing and presenting these, literally took me two vids to subscribe back in the day. But I'm gonna unsub the next time an ad occupies more than 20% of the entire video's duration
@Jimmie2429 intense focus on religious studies after the introduction of islam wrecked their intellectuals the developing chauvinistic intolerant culture didn’t make it any easier
Love the videos - but these ads are getting just ridiculous at this point. It’s almost expected out of your videos which is sad cause I’ve been watching before you hit 100K.
Break up with basic browsers. Get Opera GX here: operagx.gg/Medievalmadness
Chinese spyware. Stick with Firefox/librewolf folks or atleast safari.
Pronouncing Opera as “oprah” was an interesting choice 😂
studying and watching youtube at the same time🤡
On the plus side, they didn’t have WebMD so they didn’t think we’re about to die; they just died.
It’s freeing in a way huh
The tool invented to remove the arrow from Henry V’s face is a brilliant piece of surgery for the time.
Very impressive, and skeeves me right out!
as someone with a LOT of health issues, i am so so so grateful for the medical knowledge we have today (and the incredible researchers, nurses, doctors, surgeons etc)
I can't imagine how hard life must have been for people in medieval times without Hello Fresh, BetterHelp, or Opera GX. Mind blown 🤯
LOL great comment

@@Bearkat87 LOL great reply
I appreciate how pleased the patient seems to be, as well as how sketched out the surgeon looks 😅 0:25
I bet the surgeon missed the mark and split his open to the medulla meat
Video starts at 3:00.
I’m a part time dishwasher. I can’t sit through sponsorships.
Thank you
SponsorBlock exists too. Life's too short to watch a 2 minute long ad for a mediocre browser.
Thanks! 🎉
I have just been diagnosed with a terminal illness called “Medieval Madness” and this channel is the ONLY treatment! 🙏🏽🥰🙏🏽
More cowbell!
With no Medicare and Medicaid, we may be going back to this .

About 15 minutes from me 'n all ;)
love the content, but don't use that text reveal mode please :) it's like listening to one thing and reading different text :)
It was horrific 😂
He uses it once a video and it is so upsetting!
So upsetting? Horrific? Jeez what are you guys gonna do when you grow up and get jobs? How are you gonna make it?
@@ticket2space and the dumb comment of the year 2025 award goes to....
@ticket2space obviously it's really not that big of a deal they were exaggerating

Sponsorblock - you're welcome
That is probably the longest ad you ever had.

Fair enough. Apparently my comment has been removed anyway.
What ad? People still watch YT with ads?
uBlock Origin browser extension.
Done.

4:12 this text reveal took me through multiple dimensions of time simultaneously...
I really wanna know how some people actually survived trepanning 😮

One more reason to be thankful for living today 🙏

Some companies have requirements of where it is in the video to make it watched
The more I watch this channel, the more I am grateful to have been.born during this era. Their stupidy is boundless
Most incredible example of the skill and tools needed to remove an arrow would be that of Henry V's head wound.
Customizable browsers remind me of all the fun times I had with my Windows 98 and Windows '00
Thumbnail goes hard lmao
8:22 “practice of physic” not “psychic” - physic being an archaic word for medicine
Thanks, didn’t think psychic made sense, and couldn’t understand how the text shown made that word.
All this is fascinating medical history. It had to have its origins somewhere and start at a certain time.
I needed to watch this like I needed a hole in the head.
Preparing for the dystopian apocalypse and a return to the good old days.
"Oprah GX" lol
LOOK UNDE YOUR SEATS! YOU GET A WEB BROWSER! YOU GET A WEB BROWSER! EVERYBODY GETS A WEB BROWSER!
I just ate a big bowl of goulash...should I watch this?
Definitely!!!!!! 😂😂😂🤣😂🤣😂
Yumm Hungarian goulash 😋
Me too!
Enjoy a second serving!
😅😂😂 you're safe... mostly😂
I don't know what possessed you people to reveal text in that way.
No. I want to be a nameless peasant, not a historical footnote. Because that is what I am.
Hello fellow peasant!

I'm just glad we were all born during the age of modern medicine
5:21 "deposit of pus" is my glam rock band's name.
Damn, how did they cope without Opera GX?
3:53 This text reveal mode. Please, please don't.

Hold on brother i cant move passed something like that so quick

My guy, great vid... But, please, reign the promo time in a teensy.
Usually they give a specific time length you have to reach with your ad to get the payment for the ad
So basically, your only choice was either (immense) pain or death
have we really come a long way since then?
Feels like maybe we should give these two some privacy 💀 0:35
opera gx or oprah gx?

7:55 bro's gooning face
It's Practice of Physick (fizick), as in physician, not psychic XD
So, that's where the Tin Man got his start.
How about regular tools? Say for craftsmen, maintainers, anything of that variety? Maybe something like "wagon mechanics?"
This video is giving me a toothache
Will this procedure work?
I haven’t had any complaints.
thank you science!
Where is the music???
In the Middle Ages the Islamic world was ahead of the West in many scientific methods. Not anymore. I wondered what happened?

They way you display your text on the screen is annoying. Put the whole quote up. Not a word at a time or disjointed please. Thanks, love your videos.
Thank God for modern medicine, though RFK Jr wants America to go back to the Middle Ages. Get him to watch this video.
Whoowee a hot piece of metal on the skin or on the tooth? wtf I'm surprised we made it this far I really am
The advert length is a joke mate. Please stop it
Hell no to that thumbnail 💀💀😱😱🤣
Oprah GX
An infomercial with some added content about medieval medicine.😒
Omg wow
Turning it off now because im almost 3 minutes in and the entire video so far has been an ad.
Just the title made me cringe
Horrible, but very interesting.
Shame about the music in the back ground ruined what would have been a good video .
Boring.
Ouchy
8:00 in regards to the head drilling it could’ve been for subdural hematoma (brain bleed). I had a hole drilled in my skull to let out excess blood. 🩸
Ai slop
What a stupid way of revealing text. 4 min.
Damnit, I was trying to avoid watching this until I was desensitized to the cover.
I wasn't ready. 😳🫣
