Congratulations. I use paper towels in the bottom of my hatches so the quail don't slip.and it also helps keep the incubator cleaner. ❤ The plastic tote is to slick, that's why you are seeing them spread their legs. Put something down to help them be able to get a grip. Paper towels, doggy pad, wood maybe, they will end up with splay leg if you don't.
Thank you 🙏🏽 Another subscriber had mentioned putting something down in the tote. I put a dog pad down. That stopped them from slipping. I’m still having trouble fixing the curled toes. No good success using the cardboard and bandaid method
@zoshomestead Oh no problem, thank you for responding...Yeah it does seem to be about 6 hours..Ive had my button quail eggs going for 2 days now.. I have the same exact incubator.. I've only had to put a few sprinkles of water in it in the middle of the night.. I can't hardly wait till they hatch..❤
This was the first incubator I have ever owned. To me it worked great. It did its job. I think the size is great for when they hatch. They have plenty of room to move around. They probably said get a smaller one because this incubator is designed for chicken eggs. I found that if you put two quail eggs in a section they tend to rotate around better. Make sure to layer the bottom with paper towels so they have grip and won’t mess up their legs. Hope this helps 👍🏽
I have one of those Kebonnixs jobbies that I've been using for chicken eggs, and I have a couple questions about using it with the quail eggs. The first question is how many days to set the incubator for? I rewound the spot where you were talking about temp and humidity, but I didn't catch the days. The second question is how many of the Coturnix eggs fit in each of those egg turner cells that come from the factory sized for chicken eggs?
You'll need to set the incubator for 17 days for Coturnix quail eggs and 21 days for chicken eggs. I would only put one egg per section. When I put two per section the incubator was over crowded after they hatched. They also didn’t have enough space for the eggs to rotate properly
Sorry for the late reply. It’s been a little while since I hatched quail. I will look and see if I can find my paperwork on hatching quail. Check out Myshire Farms RUclips and website. I followed the temperature and humidity that they recommended. Hope this helps 👍🏽
Hello Friend. I have a similar incubator but I can't understand its normal temperature 99.5 is too low for me it's about 36.8 degrees Celsius so 101.5F is equal to 37.8 degrees
Thank you 🙏🏽 Someone had just contacted me and told me that exact thing. I just finished putting a dog pad at the bottom and added the shavings back on the top.👍🏽

Great video and exactly the info I was looking for to make a decision on buying this incubator.
Glad I could help 👍🏽
hi zo 🤗
congrats on hatching your quails. tfs
Thank you! 🤗
One error, chick's splad legs is due to slippy surface "not" by being the egg.
Thank you. Yeah. I found out about that after the fact and corrected it 👍🏽
So did the turner work well with the quail eggs
I bought the same incubator and seen reviews of people recommending changing it for a smaller one for quail that’s why I asked

@@zoshomestead Ahh, okay. Thanks for the time and the warning.
How much humidity do you put at the beginning and also at the end of incubation, maybe you can tell me exactly, I suffered, they die in 1 week

How many days total did you set the incubator for?
17 days for quail

I hatched all my quail with a 99.5 temperature
Visit Myshire Farms RUclips and website. All they raise is quail
How many times a day does your incubator automatically turn the eggs? I was told every 8 hours?
Sorry for the late response. If I’m not mistaken I believe it’s every 6 to 8 hours
The slippery floor is not great for freshly hatched chicks and they can damage their legs. Put paper towels down for some grip.
Thank you 🙏🏽
