this song got me through a REALLY rough patch last year. I was having a lot of panic attacks, depression, and existential dread, and this song described exactly how I felt at that point in time. I felt, for lack of better wording, Seen. I heard it was created while in a bad place, and I hope they're feeling better now, because the state I had to be in to relate was NOT a good one. I'll explain what I mean, from what I remember, if anyone is interested, it's kind of... really super weird, haha; --- how I interpreted it at the time was actually kind of interesting, I think. I felt like the sound and imagery really hit hard in a way I'm not sure if I can describe now, but I can try. most of it seemed like a nightmare, where they feel trapped, in life, and in dreams. the title itself gave me a sense of futility, as, obviously, you cannot breathe inside a plastic bag. like wanting desperately to live, only to be suffocated. I saw the animals with angel wings and plastic bags on their head, what I assumed are the "liars," as representative of ignorance and false happiness caused by any amount of reasons that end up in self-destruction (in this case, a fatal lack of oxygen). they float about, tormenting Heor, as if to try to get them to conform and join them, just to be "happy," as if Heor's unhappiness was unheard of, but Heor doesn't want to give in and lose their agency. even if they might envy their happy state, they know it's all a "lie." in a sense, it could also be what they think is the only way out, which I'm sure you can guess what that is by now. to me, the plastic bag felt like life itself, like being trapped your own brain, the nematodes spreading in the brain being intrusive thoughts. "I want to go outside, but maybe there is no such place." that line really got to me, not only because I was afraid to literally go outside, but also that I was afraid there wasn't anything "outside" of myself, outside the plastic bag, my brain. the ending where it lost all color felt like they finally lost their breath, whatever the reason, as the singer seems out of breath the whole song. but the music is aggressive, like what it must feel to scream inside a plastic bag. there's other themes, of feeling scared to move (knives falling, lying down in the plastic bag) and feeling watched (eye imagery), and gossip (mouths), that I picked up on at the time. also the colors and lack thereof. anyway, I'll edit this if I remember anything else! REMEMBER!!! this is all as interpreted personally by a very mentally ill person (me), so none of this is fact!! just speculation based on personal circumstances! I am not an authority, just sharing my own thoughts! tyvm if u read this far thank you I hope u have a great day :')
My theory is this song is about paranoia or anxiety , this song does point out lots of symptoms of anxiety like trouble breathing and trust issues. The beat is also how I’d imagine a panic attack to sound? Welp uh- I know this isn’t the best theory but I hope u like it lol
*_It's like the life of an artist is pain... He'oR is a rockstar, perhaps, but suffers like every rockstar when it comes to personal issues._* *_Note: Salatoga's song is done. Alishka's too. This is really He'oR. And this is like the song is about... drugs (Life in a "Plastic Bag" has to do something with either drugs, or perhaps escapism)_*
My personal thoughts! I’ll be editing this as I go I often fail to see the bigger picture, so feel free to point out what I missed and what may be interpreted differently. Imo Heor represents the heart. Heor wears a choker with a big heart charm, happens to have the according color in their hair, and most prominently the song’s trailer video featured one. Because the other characters directly or indirectly kill themselves in order to achieve a certain goal, and because this is never fulfilled properly and they have to start over again, the heart is very often treated poorly(as in stabbed) and as something of a nuisance. The liars seem to represent the other 3 characters; Alice, Salatoga, and Alishka, who all dwelled in their own made-up fantasies; Alice in her various “travels”, Salatoga in their own amusement park, and Alishka in his fantasy of seeing the cult members die painfully(though they all regretted it in the end lmao) In this mv, Heor appears as their own self but the others are shown as animals with plastic bags on their heads wielding knives. This assumption was made solely due to the fact that the bunny reminded me of Salatoga and because of the number 3 lol Heor at the start says that the prototype is crumbling away and that they need to get it back before it disappears for good. The prototype here could mean two things; one, it could be the original concept of Alice before she split into seven, and two, it could be one of the flames shown in New Game, that formed Heor. To achieve this, they enter an "iridescent paradise", which seems to be a metaphor for illusions/dreams. In the world of illusions, they invade the liars’ dreams in an attempt to subdue them and to prevent the prototype from further deteriorating, but are instead suffocated in the unending servings of lies and fantasies. In the final chorus, Heor loses almost all their color but the animals around them stay vibrant as ever. Because of the way the song abruptly ends, I like to think that because Heor failed to save the prototype from melting away and because the harassment towards them worsened, their existence came to an end. To be honest, I’m not sure if Heor explicitly represents a certain organ from the 6. Possible candidates are the heart and the skull, but since they both take up a significant portion of this mv and in Heor’s character design, it’s hard to tell. Stars can be seen at 1:26. This calls back to the concept of the moon, the sun, and the stars. The sun and moon have been mentioned many times in the 2nd album songs, but in different contextes so it's a little hard to figure out. I think it also represents the duality between the wizard race and the human race from Forbidden Wonderland.... but I'm not going to delve into that too much. Stars are seen most prominently in Fushigi Chan. On Salatoga's toy guns, bumper cars, in the curtains of the shooting game tent, as decoration on the mini prison, and most importantly in the eyes of Salatoga's bunny mask, in some occasions. Because the photo cards feature both the sun and the moon, and Salatoga in the center, it can be said that the division of moon/sun/stars still holds in newer songs. Since Salatoga is one of the 7 fragments of the original Alice, the other 6 can be considered to be stars as well. Hence the stars around the 4 bunnies... Some other things I noticed. At the start there is a little avatar of Heor holding a syringe on their right. Later, this avatar is replaced with an ominous looking figure, who happens to make an early appearance at 0:39, overlayed. They look rather important, but who is it really? In some scenes, Heor is seen wearing the smaller, metallic heart charm and in others wearing a bigger charm with concentric lines. It seems to be that the one wearing the smaller charm is a sort of an inner self of the one wearing the bigger chain, judging by the transition in 1:33. Could this be taken literally or metaphorically? Four bunnies dressed as angels can be seen all throughout the mv. At 1:29, only 3 of them drop knives, so I think it’s safe to assume that they represent the 4 characters. What are they doing in 0:47? Why are two smiling and the others frowning? Why bunnies though? Maybe the four angels aren't the four chars at all, but all clones of Salatoga. Or maybe it has to do with the dying bunny in Forbidden Wonderland. lol idk
The Japanese word that's translated into 'prototype' is 原型. It also means 'archetype,' and in this context I think the meaning is closer to a Jungian archetype, rather than an engineering prototype. This could relate to Salatoga's self-portrait being painted over, and Alishka's... stuff.
0:48 judging my this scene, I’m assuming the two smiling are Alice and Salatoga. The next one that appears is Alishka, going from smiling to a frown. So it’s safe to assume they are one of the frowning bunnies. That would make Heor the second frowning bunny, which I think makes sense. 0:59 this scene puts me off though, since there is one bunny in each corner and Heor’s door is on the “bottom” left.
@@ssr8555 I think the scene of 0:48 parallels the mvs of the other three, since the door w/ the two bunnies could easily be alice and salatoga w/ the fire representing what happened at the circus and the door after depicting the place where alishka was stabbed
I thought it was just me. There was too much dissonance at the beginning. The later half sounded good and would have worked better for the whole song. I hate saying that because I love this band lmao
