I’ve had this exact model for a few years now and have used it for car cleaning and abused it doing DIY with it running for many hours dust extracting while I sanded the floor & it never let me down. If you think it’s not performing as well the bag will be full. Great vacuum.
Excellent clear and concise review. I have one as a spare house hoover and was about to get a cordless makita 750 until this young lady changed my mind and saved me £150😅
I was employed to clean ‘hire drive’ and valet for sale vehicles and the company I worked with chose the ‘Henry’ as their weapon of choice…this was around 2009/2010 so was before the EU specifications affected the power wattage. I’ve visited content on here that measures/compares ‘suction performance’ and to be honest the difference is negligible in suction power but the cost for using the 1200 watt hoover is quite a bit more for people that use these hoovers more frequently…I really enjoyed this material, the advice and tips you give are quite useful…even a seasoned pro car valeted picked up a new tip for dealing with ingrained sand…keep creating and publishing and good luck with the channel..!😇👍
Good review of this vacuum cleaner. You forgot to mention that it is manufactured in the UK. Now, more than ever, that's an additional reason to choose this brand. Given the reputation of the Henry - robust, reliable, with plenty of third party accessories - and the very reasonable price, I'd say it is an easy decision.
Love my basic Henry (no cable reel). When struggeling with ingrained sand and hair, I use a drill brush to give the performance a push. And one last point: vacuuming the garage keeps it nice and tidy ... spider-free, no midgets, no leaves, sand and other debris. every now and then a wet-wipe and it's sparkling.😉
I have the same one, had it for a couple of years. It’s perfect for cars being the compact version and the tools are ideal. Bonus with any Numatic machine is spares and accessories are sold everywhere and are cheap. I love mine
I use a henry too. My Henry was from Argos. It is called the henry reach which has an extension hose with it and soma additional tools You can get additional kits for it which has a mini turbo head and it has a flexible crevice tool which is great for going behind radiators in the home or in between or under car seats or in hard to reach areas in the car
The Henry Pet PET200 also comes with an EcoBrush which is narrower than the standard head and has a rotating brush bar that you do need to keep clean, and does result in more noise, but might be very useful. Plus, it's green, if you prefer a different colour to the shouty red of the original model. It's rated at 72dB but I don't know the distance they measured it at.
Hey...I've missed your videos and glad to see you back. Vacuuming is one of my least favorite detail jobs. However, if I have a pretty good machine it helps a lot. I also use a device on my compressor that gets the stubborn stuff loose. Excellent video (as always). You always do a great job of explaining all the specifics of equipment and techniques. Good job!
Thanks for watching! A compressor would be brill, I’ve just got a steamer as well and that’s really handy so I’m planning a video for that later in the year
Same here, I actually bought it when I tried my hand at doing mobile detailing many moons ago. Still going strong although could use a new crevice tool. I don't bother with the bags either. lol
I worked in a very busy BMW service department as a service valeter, we used Henry hoovers, six days a week for ten hours a day, we replaced them on average every 18 months, mostly because the motor would eventually give up, 25 to 30 cars a day each with 3 of us using a Henry hoover each, for the money they are tough little hoovers.
Finally, a proper detailer's review of this amazing little powerhouse! I use the same machine, except it's a pink one, the Hetty. It's a lot quieter than my wet-vacuum, which is a Bissell SpotClean Pet. Don't talk to me about Volkwagen carpets! They are just bad. I valet VW's for their used forecourt, and just one interior can take half a whole day to do properly.
My HVC 200 is well old now and has a massive appetite for dirt, and the bag is massive. They are super simple and well-made, mine has been abused, kicked around, flipped upside down when I yank on the hose too hard and still works hard and sounds the same, it must be at least 15 years old now.
Great little review Heather. We have one in the house that I use for detailing too, I'm not sure what model it is exactly as ours has a turbo button next to the power button which really helps on the ingrained dirt. I use the soft bristle brush alot inside the cabin but agree that the other brush doesn't work that well as it has a tendency to keep coming off. I do agree that the hose is a real pain to store however I just wrap it around the body and tuck the nozzle under the handle. Absolutely love ours and would buy another one if and when ours dies.
For super ingrained dirt on the cheap carpets, I've found that a tornador works wonders blowing the muck out making it easier to vacuum up. Only downside is you need an air compressor for the tornador.
Not sure if they're available in the UK but here in the US I use the Ridgid 4 gal 5 hp wet/dry shop vac. I can attach my Ripclean extractor to it and have it be a dual purpose tool as well. it SUCKS in the good way haha. You can get it for ~$100 USD (~80 pounds) and on sale you can get the auto detailing kit that comes with a longer hose, attachments and couplers for the smaller diameter hose for like $30 or so. It's nice.
I’m still using the older Henry which has been brilliant. The older ones where 2 speed and more powerful, I’m not sure which one in the range is as powerful as the older models
Heather hello from Australia🙃 I just had a look to see what the price would be here and wow Henry HVR 160-11 Bagged Cylinder Vacuum, 620 W, 6 litres, Red and Black $800.00 er so no I'll stick with my Hover.🤑
Lovely video. Very clear, and fab camera work. I used to have a Dyson Animal, corded, great suction… but I must say I think Henry has better suction, Henry is better all round. Some of the optional Henry tools are worth it too. Airo brush, both sizes, is fab. The flexible crevasse tool is also very useful.
i went with the karcher wd5 after debating which hoover to buy. great on the car and as a added bonus i use the wet option to clean out my water feature whenever it needs doing lol
Another honest opinion Heather is been looking at these but the Karcher wd4 is just mind blowing suction really good for the car got amazing power and cleans really good I'd probably use the Henry for the house
You are cleaning up Britain one car at a time 😂 Thank you Heather for this video as I have been thinking about this machine and others; because I’m currently using a household upright Dyson.
I have the George, (for the wet vac option) he's a tough little character , and always smiling , even on a wet Monday. My only qualm is that it doesn't have that wind up mains lead. Great machine though.
Hi Heather, thanks for the honest review. I use a lithium ion powered vacuum cleaner which seems fine for me who keeps on top of the dirt. I can see how that would be a better option for grimy/dirty cars.
I have the US version with the yellow cord. Excellent vacuum. I use it on my floors as well. I just don’t like the way the hose fits in the wand. It tends to come out.
Yeah, I use the Numatic NVH200-1 Valet vac for my cars with a 850W motor and longer hose, only comes with hose and mini toolkit. Still has the same issue at getting dirt/sand out of that funny material they fit in cheaper cars.
Nice review H...I like my Henry. They seem quite robust and nice and compact. I used to relegate my house hoover to the garage for car cleaning. Trouble is they were uprights and fell over quite a bit which usually created the moment where I hoped it didnt damage the paint! I am sure there are others but Henry is a good choice especially when on offer. Think I got mine for £99. I think I might even have two....thats bad isnt it LOL
Screwfix sell a model called ‘Titan’ that I got for £50, very similar to this, but my god is it powerful, I use it to get dog hair out of our cars carpets, and it does a sensational job.
I like to cut crevice nozzle at 45 degree angle so when i'm vacuuming i'm going up and down, no left and right. I think it's better that way in my opinion.
Another fantastic and informative video Heather I had the cordless Henry but hose broken so got a Henry XL think its twice the sucking power as the cordless
So I work at Numatic when we changed the wattage we tried as hard as we could to keep the power the same the hi low switch made it so if you wanted lower suc you could with ease now are vacuums are set in hi there the same a a older one so there is no need to get a higher voltage fyi😊
Great review Heather, I have a question for you and your viewers, as you said it's about being cost effective, so as prices are going up, which of the following would you buy in 5 litres form Citrus pre wash Snow foam Car shampoo Wheel cleaner. For me the first 3 I now use valet pro And for the wheels GT wheel shampoo. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for watching! I'd probably go for these: - Squid Ink Citrus (£29.99 for 5 litres) - Squid Ink Alkafroth Snow Foam (£32.99 for 5 litres) - Garage Therapy Car Shampoo (£39.00 for 5 litres) - High Definition Detail Braking Point Wheel & Tyre Cleaner (£21.99 for 5 litres)
I found a solution for the dirtbag! It's to add a zipper on it. Like so you have to open the zipper once the bag it's full and hand-wash it let it dry, when the bag it's completely dry close the zipper and use it again. 👍🏽
Heather, you actually make a video about a hoover interesting and informative!! Well done, was wondering why you don't use a rechargeable though with a spare battery pack ?
Thanks for watching! They’re usually not quite as powerful and the ones that are cost quite a bit more I think. I don’t really mind using a mains cable as long as it’s not too short and then I don’t need to worry about forgetting to charge it 😂
Looks like a good machine. I like the retractable power cord. I didnt like the no vacuum hose storage. Do you know how many amps draw there is from the motor? Most are about 15 amps, but some are higher. Good to know so you dont trip a breaker in the box. Thank you Heather.
Thanks for watching! I’m not actually sure on the amps I’m afraid, tried to find out but it doesn’t seem easy to find. Could be worth emailing Henry if you go for one 😊
Bombproof design Heather I’ve got one of these and the blue Numatic version which I still use it’s not as powerful as the BigBoi machine but more portable great video brilliant 👍🏻🇬🇧
Hi Heather I hope you are well very good video do you know what I'm looking for new vacuum I already find one is neumaic Charles canister vacuum what do think? And I have question can I use pre wax cleaner every month for my car before wax? Greetings 🇨🇦
Hi Jorge, the Charles sounds like a good option! If it is a non-abrasive pre-wax cleaner than that should be fine but if it is abrasive I'd say it's probably a bit too much to be using it monthly
Hi Heather, another excellent and informative video. Just one question are all your customer's car interiors so bad, or did you specifically advertise for one?🤔🤣🤣
@@AutoCareHQ I'm seriously considering starting a mobile valeting business. The plan is to be able to leave my current job if I have enough regular customers. There are quite a few areas where people own luxury cars local to me. I'm guessing that they would expect me to be fully self sufficient with my own water and power supply. But what if petrol power tools (like some pressure washers) are banned? I guess people will just have to be okay with their electricity being used. I do feel quite anxious about not knowing good techniques and products to use and also if someone decides to falsely claim against me for any damages to their car. There's got to be insurance for that kind of thing?
I’ve had my Henry for over 20 years.. bought him from a retired builder who told me he’s seen abuse.. £20 he said.. I just bought him a new nappy and he’s served we very well.. don’t know why people spend hundreds on these new sharks or Dysons that can’t even handle a coin ., Henry is king.. he’s like a black hole.. eats anything and I mean ANYTHING
Henry is the Don. My last one lasted 18 years befioe giving up the ghost. His happy little face whilst being all burned out and smelling like fire was a day i won't forget. Henry v2 is going strong though. The accessories are sensibly priced but if you want 3rd party there are tonnes. You can use it bagless, but recommended you don't as it will eventually help burn out your motor (not my words, the words of a local Henry restorer). Great for pet hair as my carpet vs. dog will contest. Agree with everything here. The only issue i have is as you said, the hose length means you have to drag it around the car to do each side and it can tip ove when you yank it. I have a handheld dyson, its garbage and a Dyson pet focused upright which is just no good for cars. Henry is great round the house on stairs too, it isn't heavy and as long as you can store the hose its my pick all day long, and my go to for verything, not just for cars.
Thanks for watching :) Yeah that's a very good point, loads of accessories are on the market for the hose and attachments so it'll be easy to upgrade it if I want to in the future. I used to use a Dyson as well but I think it's pretty naff too!
@@AutoCareHQ Question is, is their car cleaning accessory pack on your Xmas list? 'What pack?' she cries :D Maybe i can get you to spend your money for a change! haha. The only thing that put me off was the £45 price tag. I will def look into a longer hose though, hadn't seen one was available. (If you decide to ever need a house-hoover their turbo triangular-looking carpet head is def recommended) - although on pet hair carpet the old dyson standup is def the one. Dyson handheld one was £200 recon (same Dyson man), bought on recommendation from someone i know (thanks Mum) and turens out it has the oomph of an asthmatic sloth. And the battery lasts about 9 seconds (which luckily is about as long as it takes for me to lose patience of pushing breadcrumbs round my countertop) and want to throw it.
Very nicely presented, and obviously covered all areas without faffing about, knew what she was going to say. Well Done
I love how respectful the comment sections are on Heathers videos. Great content. Keep it up. 👍
Thanks for watching 😊
My mother has the old one for 27 years we reckon. It's been on fire and still works. It's yellow. Great machine. Hope mine lasts that long
i went for the george pneumatic for the wet and dry feature, i love it. Absolute besat on seats and upholstery and can bring them back like new.
I don't personally own a Henry, but I did borrow one from a valeting client once after my Meile cleaning went bang. The Henry performed brilliantly!
I initially came for the Hoover review, but now I'm considering bringing my car to you.
I’ve had this exact model for a few years now and have used it for car cleaning and abused it doing DIY with it running for many hours dust extracting while I sanded the floor & it never let me down. If you think it’s not performing as well the bag will be full. Great vacuum.

Haha I get what you mean, I was pretty surprised when I found out they were also sold in the US, thought they were mainly a UK thing!
@@AutoCareHQ And in Australia

Heather, the hose will actually coil twice on itself, if you take out the attachment, the nozzle fits into the threaded end. Storage is then superb

The karcher wd2 plus is a decent vacuum. Wet and dry and it got a blower function that dries wheels for under 60quid.

Haha I've spent way too much on new products recently so I probably won't order anything else for a little while (or at least try not too anyway!)
Super video 👍❤🌹
Having had Henrys in the past i cant see past Dyson for suction pressure
Henry is a happy little sucker,
Just look at that smile!
Strange looking vacuum 🤣 but thanks for another informative video...
Thanks for watching!
And you never even mentioned that it’s got a smiley face on it lol😂
Forgot the best bit 😂
I find my old dyson cylinder to be far better than the henry we had for vacuuming the car
Quite like my shark from the house for the car now…
I use a Kirby
Will last longer than that car
I will stay with my George instead thank you.

This applies only to indoor use, when I change the dust bag I spray some aftershave on the filter makes a nice smell when hoovering.
Best thing to use for sand in the carpet is a sander
