Amazing tips, thank you! I'm nearing the release of my first mobile game. I've spend 8 years making various projects, never finishing any of them and instead starting new project, one after another - because I was scared the game I was working on would not succeed and all the potential and hard work would be wasted. BUT, I've finally grown to realize what the reality is for 99% of indie devs: your first game will not launch your career, it will probably be a failure if you think only in terms of money. However, you should not focus on that. Focus on gaining the experience of going through, be proud you made a game, pour your passion into it and be ready to face the harash reality with a big smile. Because the moment you went through with it, you are already further down on the path than most indies will ever be. Your first game will not succeed. Probably not your second. It might not be the third either. The thing here is consistency,; learn from your mistakes, improve your marketing and game design skills, be ready to do the tedious work on social media sites, grow painfully slowly - only then, you MIGHT succeed and make a full-time career out of it. Sounds bleak? Discouraging? It is, but that does not matter, not as long as you enjoy making games. That's what truly matters. Cheers!
Thanks for sharing! It's really good stuff. And you said 80% luck... I don't think so, for sure you have a lot of work in your back, years of work. but with this tips it could be much easier for others! love!
Great video but there is one thing I do not agree with. Got a 5 year break from game dev and got into sales, marketing, business etc coming back now to disrupt the market. The correct answer I believe is: 40% hard work, 10% luck and 50% operations (marketing, branding, sales skills used in negotiations and partnerships). Luck is something that you did good but you don't know exactly what so 10% accounts for the unforseeable (like Kim Kardashian plays your game and mentions it randomly in a random video how she is obsessed with this game). And this scenario actually exposes the reason why >90% of game devs don't make money. I'm curious what you think about this. Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much for this great amount of quality infos! I wanted to ask you and the viewers a question. Why we dont see kickstarter campaings for mobile games?
Yeah a well sorted and polished video. But one thing that I think is missing is, what is the most ideal time the the whole marketing process should last before the relaese?
Thank you so much for the amazing tips☺, one thing if you don't mind helping, do you have any suggestions or tips of how to convince youtube channels or games reporters from your experience to cover or feature our game?
It's better to simply straight to in game without tutorial especially it's online mobile game most player is all ready hating tutorial all so in reroll is optional to add just in case new players don't like the character that they get from pull if it's gacha because many players who is creating content gameplay with top tier character for pve and pvp for end games
Talk to google managers to upload games in playmarket or whatever then Make own RUclips channel with your game name make about it videos then people will ask where to download you say link 🔗 in below 👇 the download link will not be normal you will be used link shortener voala you will earn from link shortener and advertisement of RUclips i mean google and you will earn from playmarket downloads
Does it work for you? Asking cause in my experience less than 1% of people from my RUclips channel download my games. Also I’ve collected 25 000 emails of my games players and send them links when I release new games so they can download them . But, only 2% of them actually download them. People don’t care 🤷🏿♀️
