i bought one about a month ago from aquatics and exotics in Roanoke, Va that was made by Cobalt Aquatics. i payed a little less for mine but i tell you what... It's the next best invention to the wheel... So far i have had two broods. one already is in my grow out tank, and the second one is in the "cooker" now. Each brood had at least 13 eggs. In the first brood i had 17 eggs, but 4 were not fertile. Believe it or not once the fry got big enough and lost their egg sacks, they ate the unfertilized eggs...(that's when i knew it was time to put them in the grow out tank) Now i have another brood in the cooker and they are from a bumblebee, and there are no casualties...(thank God) They just popped out and the heads and tails are visible and wiggling around. If you don't have a tumbler you are wrong...
Hey John i liked your video review that much i bought a Ziss ZET-E55 the smallest of them, i bought it for only shrimp eggs and it works amazing, ive tried and adapted all sorts of tumblers, but this one works 100% straight out the box. nice one mate.
I just got the 55 version and really liking it. Too bad the 55 doesnt have the slide clip on the side, makes it much easier to take out. Other than that so far great product even being a bit pricey.
I wish I could rightfully put buying an awesome egg tumbler into my priorities but for now the DIY jehmco ones will have to do. Thanks for sharing this though. One day :D Let him know that they look great though!! Really hope it sells well and is still around by the time I can get one!
Nice designs but for 40$ I'll throw one together for under 5$. Only 20$ on eBay if you don't mind waiting 2 months or so for shipping from S. Korea on these units.
Been looking at these a while now but I just can't pull the trigger with shipping as high as it is. Hopefully he'll have a US distributor soon. But I will be buying one at that point. Thanks for the demo John!
For anyone only holding back due to price, Beantown Aquatics sells them cheaper. Pretty sure he has a sale going on for Memorial Day as well. The code is Mem2016.
Just curious I strip my cichlids and put the eggs in tumblers. Seems like every time I do with in a day or two I've lost half to fuzzy stuff growing on them or there floating on top. Am I doing something wrong ie to much air or not enough
No. Not good for angels. Angels aren't mouthbrooders. They stick their eggs to a surface instead. There's no need to tumble angelfish eggs. Just the right temp, clean water and plenty of aireation around the eggs but soft like an angel fanning them.
5:16 Air doesn't go down the tube, water goes up it. 5:30 The screen is to prevent fry/wigglers from leaving the unit through the lift tube, has nothing to do with keeping the eggs clean, which as you know is what the sponge does. @KGTropicals are you sure you know how these work?
Generally speaking fish that lay eggs, the eggs need clean water and aireation, water movement. You could use a hang on breeding box but you need water movement inside of it a constant flow of air or a slight current so the eggs stay oxygenated. Like the parents passing over them or fanning them naturally. They aren't really designed for eggs but live bearers so HOB breeder boxes would need modification to use them for eggs. Something like a tumbler is designed for mouth brooders species of fish the eggs are much more hardy and can take a lot more movement than other egglayer eggs can.
Cobalt Aquatics are selling what looks like the very same product on Drs Foster and Smith website. Who's ripping off who? Or are Cobalt a distributor? Prices are a little cheaper, sizes the same. Shipping for the 80mm Ziss is 1,000.00 on Ebay. Hopefully, that's a typo. Take a look and let us know what's going on KGTropicals? After all, you appear to be endorsing the Ziss product.
Also for sale from DFS, though for more money than eBay and branded as a cobalt aquatics product. www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=29075
I am late to the game with Tumblers but appreciate your review! Just ordered my fist ziss tumbler today.

At what point would u remove the fry from the egg tumbler thanks a lot for the awesome video
I agree with James. A little much for the amateur fish keeper.

I gotta get one but it's a bit expensive

You need to remove the unfertilized eggs or you get the white fungus on them.
How many lt/hour airpump should i use for my Zet-E55 egg tumbler?
Where can you buy them and how much do they cost?
what do you think about angel wigglers ? will this be ok for them till they swim around. my angels drop eggs like ever 3

would these work with cory eggs? im having trouble with fungus on the eggs in external hang-on breeding box (marina brand)

Can I buy this tumbler from you?

the guy struct a deal with cobalt. i dont know what percentage he gets
none of the links work
tried facebook and the actual site.
What's the reason on why they have to tumble I know the female does it with her mouth...but wats the reason behind it..
Sometimes the female will spit them out before they are ready. So the eggs either get eaten or moldy or something like that.
I dont mind tue $40 for the tumbler but $24 for shipping smh ..
it's so expensive...not for a beginner definitely
African cichlids are expensive fish. If it increases your hatch rate, it will pay for itself. Breed more expensive fish.
Nice tumbler, too much money for that tumbler, i build my own tumbler for a tottal of 5$ all include materials and succes all the way.
