    I wrote an article and studied the development stages of cichlids and particularly mouthbrooder eggs, drawing at every stage every day after fertilization. Write this 40 years ago. Also stripping eggs lets mother recover faster, grows bigger and faster and has increasingly larger broods of eggs. There is actually a measurable increase in size and weight, albeit slight of the eggs themselves in this process.

    • @cichlidscape
      @cichlidscape  6 лет назад

      ATF intheHouse I would agree. The mothers tend to swallow some during the tumbling process & stripping them allows them to get back to eating faster👍🏻 thanks for watching & sharing your knowledge👌🏻

    Heya! Love the video. I don't know if you're still gonna reply since this video is quite old now, but I was wondering.. does every Cichlid kind lay the eggs and then afterwards carry them in their mouth? Since we have some Zebra Cichlids, and we noticed that after around 2 days that they had laid eggs on some wood, the eggs had disappeared. And we're planning to get a fry soon for them, but I just get get any specific info about that through research, so I was curious if you perhaps knew :]

    Nice video. What is the difference between putting the eggs in the tumbler compared to just transferring the female cichlid in a separate tank and let nature takes its course?

    • @cichlidscape
      @cichlidscape  6 лет назад

      Christopher Flores good question👍🏻 for me it’s all about numbers. A lot of the time even if you moved the female they would still swallow a few unknowingly throughout the tumbling process. This is even more precedent in younger females who haven’t held before. These eggs were the first this female had & so I wanted to make sure I got the fry. These are the first “line breeding” group of mine. So they should be studs!👍🏻 thanks for watching!

      ken wood lighting doesn’t matter during this time ken.
