Led by Nikola Jokic’s 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists, the Denver Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4, 113-111. Jamal Murray added 25 points for the Nuggets in the victory, while LeBron James led all scorers with 40 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists for the Lakers. After closing out this best-of-seven series, 4-0, the Nuggets will now advance to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history, where they will face the winner of the Boston Celtics-Miami Heat series (Miami leads, 3-0).
Nikola Jokic (27.8 PPG, 14.5 RPG, 11.8 APG) is now the 4th player in NBA history to average a triple-double in a Conference Finals series, joining:
Jason Kidd (2001-02 vs. Celtics): 17.5 PPG, 11.2 RPG, 10.2 APG
Magic Johnson (1982-83 vs. Spurs): 17.5 PPG, 10.5 RPG, 14.0 APG
Wilt Chamberlain (1966-67 vs. Celtics): 21.6 PPG, 32.0 RPG, 10.0 APG*
    *Divisional Finals
Nikola Jokic joins Wilt Chamberlain (1967) as the only players in NBA history to average a triple-double in back-to-back Playoff series.
The Nuggets 93 Playoff wins entering tonight were the most Playoff wins by a team to never make a Finals appearance in NBA history.
Nikola Jokic has now recorded his 8th triple-double of the 2023 Playoffs, passing Wilt Chamberlain (1967) for most Triple-Doubles in a single postseason.
Anthony Davis (50) is the 3rd Lakers player (5th instance) in franchise history with 50+ blocks in a single postseason, joining:
    Shaquille O’Neal (2003-2004): 61 blocks
    Shaquille O’Neal (1999-2000): 55 blocks
    Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1982-1983): 55 blocks
    Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1979-1980): 58 blocks
LeBron James (38 years, 143 days) is now the oldest player in NBA history to record 40+ points in a Playoff game, previously:
Karl Malone (36 years, 273 days): 50 points on 04/22/2000

this is what i like about the jokic, he don't care how they look, he don't care what anyone thinks, when perkins said he's stat padding, he doesnt care and even said yes he's a stat padder just to end the conversation, he really made everyone the best version of them, no ego, will admit mistakes and own up to it, the anchor in the team that makes every play and screens, he made everyone good but he can also takeover and be the calm guy in the clutch, when everyone is rambling and can't score, he collect himself, drains the three, take care of the clutch basket , this monster, damn he even said he doesnt care about the mvp and just earlier he was awarded the western finals mvp he said it meant nothing because it's the team. Best player in the best team of their conference, all advance stats ranking as number 1. Low usage, high assist player. I wish Denver wins it against Miami in a sweep.

Also, do you see how the man literally destroys lebron and AD one on one, and even 2 on 1..Also, this is the first year of Jokic's prime, he is still practically a young player. It's incredible how much he has improved in defense, he is unstoppable in attack, he is a mixture of prime Dirk, Duncan and magic...Shots like this are nothing new for jokic, it's a sombor scuffle, it's amazing how few people follow denver in america

Watching this I have no idea why people say Jokic isn't athletic. Sure he doesn't run fast or jump high. But he has incredible stamina and he's strong enough to bully people in the paint. I mean, look at that last play.

    • @rrpostalagain
      @rrpostalagain Год назад +10

Well you just explained it… he’s not fast and can’t jump. But he hussles every play and has really quick and soft hands. He is not athletic in a typical NBA way, but he certainly surprises people with how he plays. He looks like his game would be similar to that “big country” Reeves guy who played a decade ago… it’s not. His effort is worth putting a shine on.

That is how a triple double should be. It makes the team win. The thing with Jocik is he is trying to get his team mates involved. He doesn't hog the ball for 20 plus seconds. He can score anywhere but he never tries to force anything unless it is badly needed. His post-up game and footwork is like a prime olajuwon. His midrange and 3point shots are like those of prime dirk nowitzki. They are released so high that it is really impossible to block. His passing is like a prime Arvidras Sabonis. He is also just highly skilled and possesses extemely high basketball iq. He may look slow, gassed, and unathletic but he is just unguardable, and he makes opposing teams pay when he gets double teamed. He is also tough and physical. He may play poor defense at times but during crunch times, his defense is suddenly top notch.

    • @finesse372

It's great to see Aaron Gordon find a nice niche with the Nuggets as a cutter/finisher and occasional pick n roll playmaker. For a while it looked like he was going to be another disappointing tweener forward, but kudos to the Nuggets for getting the most out of him.
