After decades of eating BBQ sauces on numerous meats from all kinds of regions of the country, I have to say my quick "Go-To" sauce just for grilled chicken thighs is..... "Open Pit Original". It is somewhere between North Carolina Sauce ending up on the border between Arkansas and Louisiana Sauce-Wise...Funny it came from Detroit in 1953.⭐⭐⭐⭐(4/5 stars for grilled chicken thighs.🍗)
I did not like the Honey sauce...too much liquid smoke and garlic (for my taste) and not enough sweet honey flavor...I wish I had spent the money on the Original Open Pit instead.
O/P was the sauce used at Tony Romas restaurants when they were around - Really liked it but can't find it here for quite a while, so have gone to Baby Ray's sweet and spicy
Open Pit...all day...every day!!👑❤ I literally don't like any other BBQ sauce when cooking meats on the grill (or in the oven). If I'm dipping chicken nuggets from a restaurant, that's the only time I use the sweeter, more traditional BBQ sauces. Great video!👍
I grew up on Open Pit and occasionally get nostalgic for it, but it's a weird BBQ sauce. Kroger's Private Selection sauces are pretty good for cheap sauces. Comparing them to Sweet Baby Ray's, Stubb's or other more premium brands would be interesting.
I don’t like much heat... I prefer a sweeter mustard based sauce... some of my southern friends make darn good homemade ones!!! As per store brands... I like bullseye... or sweet baby rays...
@@u235u235u235 I agree ... I think it's better suited to flame cooking or roasting than for any other use, I've found it comparable to Southeastern (U.S.) vinegar sauces...which is ironic because it comes from Detroit in 1953.🍗
I used open pit barbecue sauce it poured out like water no texture . Don't look like the open pit I bought mine was more watery . I would not buy neither one
A food fight you might have some good videos for beans and chili or what not but this barbecue sauce food fight is ridiculous. Chicken nuggets give me a break barbecue sauce takes on a totally different flavor and texture when it’s cooked on ribs chicken whatever on a barbecue grill with regular charcoal or lump charcoal. It’s called barbecue sauce for a reason not dipping sauce the only dip is the guy making the video here the meat rub the smoke the heat that’s how you test a barbecue sauce. Why don’t you try it

Irish Cafe? Those look like McNuggets. They even got the boot shape. Also Open Pit tastes like McDonald's bbq.
I got a couple of Open Pit BBQ sauce bottles at Big Lots last year for $1.00 each. I really did like it.
They also make a Honey BBQ sauce.

KC’s Masterpiece is my answer
My favorite is sweet baby rays

I love Open Pit, even on mashed potatoes!!!! In Georgia it's not on the shelf very often.
That is interesting. I might have to try that. Thanks for your comment.
Open pit all day ... especially for BBQing in this showdown

I too grew up on Open Pit. Thanks.
Well said. Sweet baby Ray’s is very overrated.
Make 90k a year but I'm super poor now so I started drinking this stuff. Liquid meals baby
Great stuff. As I was watching this I was saying to myself "I hope he's going to test the sauce with chicken nuggets", and here it is! Well done! 😀
Thanks. Glad you liked it.

Thank you for your comment. There are some really good ones out there.
Open Pit us an entirely different entity than any other sauce.
Agree. Thanks for watching.
Yep...Open Pit "Original" does seem to have specialized uses as a bbq condiment. (not to everybody's taste.)
@@mosriteminioncause7741 Open Pit doesn't taste that good as a dipping sauce, it's more basting
