    As a 65 year old female with a little bit of carpentry skills I was able to make my deck gate and it came out pretty good with your directions that weren’t complicated. 😊

    Great video! Quick question please. I went and measured my width on my deck stairs and the bottom measurement was a quarter inch shorter than the top. Top was 42.75”and bottom was 42.5”. How do I approach this? Thanks.

    • @bobaldrich1495
      @bobaldrich1495 Год назад +2

      Make it to the smaller size the 42.5"
      Or just split the difference, we don't build stuff out of square, (unless on a boat or special reason, split difference or build smaller size... usually split difference 🥸

    • @spookerz35
      @spookerz35 Год назад +3

      Yes, one screw in each probably would be a good idea. Plus I would consider (or ask customer if this is a job) if they would like a top rail on the gate that matches the rest of the fencing. Done very well.

      Don't need to countersink. Just send the screws below flush. Also, screw on the vertical sides. Not on top.

      Crossbrace is needed to prevent sagging. Attach to upper rail and lower rail for symmetry. Do not exceed less than 45° corner to corner. Attach to lower hinge corner to top latch corner

    Where are at. In Canada it is illegal to have a gate or a door at the top of stairs. The building code also says. The spacing between balasters are to be so that you can not pass a 4"ball between. That means that the spacing needs to be less than 4" . Not 4" between.😮

    • @VDJ4500
      @VDJ4500 8 месяцев назад +2

      ... that code makes no sense, wouldn't you want to prevent a accidental fall down the stairs by installing a door?😂

    The diagonal support is in wrong position. it needs to be inverted to act as a compression support. Place top of diagonal support on outside top of gate down and in to hinge side to form a compression joint.
