Have you ever interviewed American tourists who barely speak French and have bad French pronunciation? It would be an interesting video to hear Americans like me struggle with French pronunciation 😂
When native Parisians complain about Emily in Paris not showing the city and it’s inhabitants accurately I’m reminded of a show here in the US from the mid-2000’s called Laguna Beach that took place in the same county I was born and raised and only depicted one area of my county accurately and gave the impression that everyone in Orange County was rich, snobby and White. But shows like Emily in Paris are like shows like MTV’s Laguna Beach. They show a glorified image of an area that’s true but only for a small group of people or is an image of that area on steroids. As a native of Orange County, California where MTV’s Laguna Beach was filmed, I can say that not all of OC is rich, white and spoiled. Us SoCal natives are not all the stereotypical Southern California rich, snobby and fake type. Same for Parisian natives who don’t see themselves in Emily in Paris characters.

Quand les Parisiens se plaignent qu’ Emily in Paris ne montre pas bien la ville, je pense à une émission aux États-Unis appelée Laguna Beach. Cette émission montre une seule zone de mon comté et dit que tout le comté d'Orange est riche et blanc.
Mais *Emily in Paris* et *Laguna Beach* montrent une image exagérée d'un endroit. Je suis du comté d'Orange, en Californie, où Laguna Beach a été filmé. Tout le comté n'est pas riche et gâté. Les gens de SoCal ne sont pas tous riches et snobs. C'est pareil pour les Parisiens qui ne se reconnaissent pas dans les personnages d'Emily in Paris.
J’ai tellement apprécié la série Emily in Paris… la mode, la musique, la ville, Il ne faut pas le prendre au sérieux, c'est juste du divertissement pas un documentaire 😊 Hélène j’aime beaucoup tes cheveux ça te va très très bien ❣️

J’ai regardé toutes les 4 saisons et toutes les épisodes d’Emily in Paris, ce que m’impressionne le plus c’est que ses collègues et son entourage parlent parfaitement anglais, sans accent et ils connaissant tant de mots qui sont pas très souvent utilisés pour les anglais apprenants. Et aussi dans la série, Mindy Chen est un caractère qui vient de Shanghai et qui a déjà participé aux activités en Chine, mais son chinois montre qu’elle vit aucun jour à Shanghai. Mais quand même, c’est divertissant de passer le temps et de voir les beaux gosses dans la série
Emily in Paris is a hugely stereotyped view of Paris and french people. I would hope most Americans don't think it's a true reflection of reality.
I watched first three seasons last year or at the beginning of this year. Now I am learning French! Thank you Lily for inspiration to learn French! 🙂

Sometimes I like when Luc speaks French in the series because he’s funny ! (Actually in both languages in fact) . But I think he speaks really Parisian style , and he took Emily to Père Lachaise cemetery which was kind of cool .
Honestly I have to say I like the series because it makes me forget real life and it’s fun. And actually despite the fantasy they still manage to capture something real about the city from the perspective of someone who goes to live there (non-French people). I went to live there for 9 months so I can say this. I’m speaking more about the romance aspect and a bit about the character of the people. And also Paris the city being a character itself which is something I felt .

Je pense que cette série reflète la vision que beaucoup d'Américains fortunés ont de Paris. C'est très cliché. Pourtant, la grande majorité des Américains n'ont même pas les moyens d'y aller. Pour beaucoup d'entre nous, on ne peut même pas nous forcer à regarder ce genre de choses. Les Américains ont beaucoup de stéréotypes français dans la tête. En tant qu'Américain d'origine française, même si je ne suis jamais allé en France, je leur dis toujours que ce n'est pas comme ça. Ma femme regarde Hallmark Channel ici. Il y a beaucoup de personnages français stéréotypés dans ces séries aussi. On ne peut que rire de ça.

Plus recentlament, j'ai regarde un film di Woody Allen s'appelle Match Point et c'etait comme un "American's wet dream" sur la vie a londres. Similarment, je pense que Emily in Paris est un "American's wet dream" sur la vie a Paris.
