i don't agree, to say it isn't dead is a sort of denial. its an inevitability at this point and extremely unlikely humanity will be able to change course in any meaningful way with so much destabilization already set in motion. i think we underestimate the lag of our adverse effects. even if we stop everything today, changes from what we have already done will likely continue for another couple hundred years as there is no way to drain the carbon from the atmosphere. even if we cool the planet with sulfur that would not reverse the course of the H2CO3 buffering by the ocean
I remember watching this with my dad when I was about 5. This man just made me love animals so much. To this day there's not a single species of animal out there that I don't care for and I have Steve to thank for that. I came to watch this one in particular on his birthday because I have the strongest memory of this, and orangutans are my favourite animal. I think this has something to do with it.
Tesick realized how special of a human Steve was, animals can tell which humans are good. It’s so sad that the people as pure as him have to be taken from us, I couldn’t help but cry watching that scene, I miss him immensely.
I come back to this because it’s such a pure and wholesome moment in time. Steve was absolutely glowing interacting with the mother orangutan and her baby. It’s moments like these that make me think about there being a higher power.

I didn't realize how much Steve impacted me as a child until about a week ago when I heard about a lion attack at a zoo. Everyone was like "good thing they shot the beast!" and "why on earth would it attack her?", I did feel awful for the woman who died, but I found myself defending the dead lion for just doing what it did. I then began to wonder why the heck I would defend it and worked my way back to Steve and how he always stressed that animals can not be blamed for acting on their instincts.
Without Steve and the Irwin family I don't know if I would love and respect animals as much as I do as a person. He had a big impact on a lot of us who grew up watching him in awe.
Steve was so wired for Life. He Loved Life So Much. I can see how his affection for life was intense and at times he didn't acknowledge the defense/ survival mechanisms of certain life trying to live around him. I Love Steve so much. He was such a caring fella. He taught us and showed us alot about Earth and Life in his Short Lifetime. Thank you Steve. We Love You and miss you so much. I just read about this encounter in Steve and Me, Terri's book. The wildlife preserve guy told Steve not to go up there because that mom would "rip his arms off" if he got near her baby but he just wanted to sit up there and be close to them. Bindi was only a few weeks old and he was missing his baby girl. Then this little bit of amazing happened =)
I miss him, he is my childhood hero, I grew up knowing Steve irwin from child and I still remember him despite it has more than 20 years I remember, I adore his show I never miss one episode
