- The Toyama Chihō Railway (富山地方鉄道 Toyama Chihō Tetsudō, "Toyama Regional Railway") is a transportation company in Toyama, Toyama Prefecture, Japan. The company is commonly known as Chitetsu (地鉄). The private company operates railway, tram, and bus services in the eastern part of the prefecture. It also operates as the agency of All Nippon Airways in Toyama area. The company has its root in Toyama Electric Railway (富山電気鉄道 Toyama Denki Tetsudō) founded in 1930. The current company was founded in 1943, when all the private and public operators of railway, tram, and bus lines in the prefecture were merged into one.
The Tateyama Line (立山線 Tateyama-sen) is a Japanese railway line which connects Terada Station with Tateyama Station.From Terada Station, it leads directly to the main line and ends at Dentetsu-Toyam Station.

１年前に乗ったら、途中駅からスキー場へ向かうベトナム人？がたくさん乗ってきました。

Had the train not actually operated over the line I would have thought the route were closed for at least a year. That portion in the mountains certainly looked like abandonment had taken place and that it was on its way to being reclaimed by Mother Nature. Thanks for putting in the time and effort to produce this video. I'm grateful for the opportunity to see this scenic railway--even through a dirty windshield--than to not see it at all.

Thanks for a wonderful journey. Just sad the windsdceen was not cleaned with the sun bearing down on it. A bit confused as to train or tram? Seemed the tram/train may have had difficulty coping with the heavy rail. Noticed in a couple of places even though the "points" were closed to this tram/train the vehicle proceeded through the cross over with no problem. Perhaps it forced the change itself? Thanks very much from Australia.

今までは田園都市線や大井町線の住宅地を走っていたので、こんな山深いところを走るとは、想像つかなかったでしょう。
やっぱり、座席を大井町線のQシートのようにしてもらいたいなぁ。
特急運用はクロス、それ以外はロングにして運用すればいい。
これならば、特急運用で料金を取れる。

Nice video. Japan's houses are unique in style. They are pretty. However, the train is painstakingly slow and clumsy. They should run at a higher speed.

でも久々に８５９０系のブレーキ排気音を聴いた、懐かしい。
実際、保線に関しては役所からお叱りが…(汗)
ただ、弁当箱はサスが硬すぎる感じしますね。
ちなみに吊り掛け時代(いわゆる運輸省規格型)は交換していた台車のホイルベースがあったか、保線レベルがまだよかったのか、今よりはゆっくり揺れる印象でした。

looks like a great scenic ride but a pity this is compromised by a very dirty cab windscreen. Not up to the usual standard for railfan videos unfortunately.

there are video from tokyo to nagoya i forget the title because in japanese, its around 1 and half hour long
You'd barely make half the route before this "slow" train reached its destination. West Japan is less densely populated so there's not the same need for fast speed travel, especially since this is a scenic route.

昔は立山-本宮間にも駅がありましたが川のこっち側はほぼ人がいないので廃駅になった跡でしょうね
