This Road HUMILIATED ME So I Came Back To DESTROY IT!

  • The Unmaintained Road might've gotten the best of me in the spring, but it hadn't learned the lesson countless others in the history of mankind had. Never cross a short, angry man.
Months of sleepless nights went by all summer until finally I had an idea of how I could turn the table on this hellish fiend of a "road". I locked in the date and returned to the site of my greatest failure ready to put my plan in motion...

Congrats! Even when you were between a rock and a hard place you pressed on, persevered, using all the resources available to you including “hike-a-bike”. In the end you conquered that rocky road. Well done!

I've just got to keep an eye out for nosey reporters in the future!

I’m glad that you and the road finally worked things out. Sometimes realizing that you’re the problem, helps you through. 😅

I'll admit that we got off to a rocky start, but it was gneiss going back and now I don't take the road for granite.

A question on the film maker side … I received an Insta 360x4 for Christmas so I’m wondering what bike mount you use on you bike? It looks to be a big learning curve

It was a learning curve for sure. I snapped two selfie stick holders on rides and destroyed one camera following the instructions that the manufacturers gave for their holders. Most of them are really cheap aluminum and don't have multiple points of contact at their pivot points and guess where they break? I've been rolling with this one for two years and it's been rock solid and you've seen the places I've been. Up to you what you get, but this worked for me and I'm really happy with it. a.co/d/6YDQmER

@ Awesome that’s exactly the recommendation I was looking for! I’ve added to my cart. Yes you do at times find some rougher roads and trails with Attitudes! Thanks again and keep up the quality content! Were are hoping to move out to the County(PEC) in the spring and I’m planning some interesting rides!

@ That's a beautiful spot to move to. No shortage of nice places to check out there and in the surrounding area! Have fun with the 360 cam and working out what you'd like to do with it. If you start uploading content, let me know - I'd love to see what you come up with

just wondering how wide of a tire do you use on your bike?

    • @SpokesAndScenery
      @SpokesAndScenery  6 дней назад +1

Standard 26" mountain bike tires. 2.4" wide uninflated. Nothing wider so there's less rolling resistance on paved roads and trails. Roads and trails like this I maybe do once a year, so the tradeoff to a wider tire isn't worth it.

Is this road on a map anywhere? I searched and couldn't find it

Yeah, starting on the unmaintained stretch everything I rode is on an old map from 1861. The link to the map is: collections.leventhalmap.org/search/commonwealth:4m90fh63x
Look to the right of Charleston Lake and the road begins just above of "VIII".
On a map today, the start point is at 44.574295,-75.988157
The turn to Dixie Rd. Is at 44.570300,-75.952846
      And I ended at 44.556967,-75.898453
Old maps were where I started with the idea of "I wonder if this still exists?"
