    Like Pim Jansson says - people are either moderators or abstainers. If you find yourself unable to moderate your behaviour, then you really have no choice but to abstain.

      Absolutely I tell people all the time not everybody can moderate what they're eating. I have an addictive personality I'm a recovering alcoholic/attic and I know that one beer is not enough for me I'll take the cake you have the one there is no moderation in my life no matter what I do for me it's all or nothing.

    Not having the stuff in my house has saved me many times. Not that I’ve been perfect, as I definitely haven’t! I’m more Keto than Carnivore, but I am also the type of person who hates going back out once I’m home… so if I have to make a trip out to get something carby, most of the time, I’ll find a healthier option. You have come up with some good ideas to keep you on track, and getting better options for your child’s future is definitely going to be better for all of you, You can do this! 😊

  • @Dakiniwoman
    @Dakiniwoman Год назад +8

    I love your honesty! I am the same... just a food addict that keeps on falling off the Carnivore way of living... But for me it's four and a half years, not just the last month... I keep to 95%... but, it's that last 5% of trigger foods that keeps tripping me up and I have lost no weight in all this time... My downfall is having a tablespoon of pure Maple syrup at the end of the day... Yep, that does it... next morning... up two pounds...

    • @carnivorecouple
      @carnivorecouple  Год назад +1

      Yes dealing with food addiction is very difficult and I don’t think many people understand how much it’s truly an addiction.
      It’s hard when you’re caught in habits that aren’t serving you or your health. I hope you can take some time to figure out what steps you can take to end the maple syrup at the end of the day. Maybe sugar free whipped topping? Still not a great choice, but maybe slowly breaking that habit down into achievable steps.
      For me I’d just have to completely toss the maple syrup out of my house- but that may not be possible for you.
      Anyways- I hope you can find a path forward even if it’s been four and a half years. Tomorrow is always a new day. We CAN do this. ❤️

    I have been where you are now several times in the last few years. I am currently back on Carnivore for the last 3 weeks. Trying to get my husband on board. His chips and snack cakes call to me in the middle of the night or if he is not home, lol. A tip for chicken nuggets for your toddler. I cut up a chicken breast and a thigh. Dip in melted butter and then Porq's Panko Crumbs. Fry them in whatever fat you use. They are great!

      I so relate to your words “his chips and snack cakes call to me” -- yes! It’s so hard! I’m blessed that Patrick is on this journey with me and that I have the power to change my sons food. For some people who are on a health journey while their partner is not- that’s gotta be a hard battle. LOVE the chicken nugget idea. Will have to try them for sure. My little guy loves eating anything he gets to dip (like those chicken nuggies with sugar free ketchup would be perfect).

They like chicken and fish the most so I try out different recipes for them. They love air fried chicken wings and they also love “nuggets” I blend pork rinds into a flour add beef flour,salt and spices dip the chicken in egg and cover them in the flour blend and we all love those and air fry, so good!

    It's impossible to "cheat on a diet". We can only cheat ourselves. Of course, we have to pick ourselves up and carry on, but we should never tell ourselves that cheating is ok. Cheating should be painful, because if it isn't we'll do it again, and again, and again.
    Good for you for realizing that the problem is with you, this means that the solution is also with you. And knowing that is very powerful.

    I realted to evrything you said on multiple levels. 1st being a step mom to a 5 year old years ago, i was always cleaning up after meals so food didn't go to waste. 2nd, i started keto on 2014 and did really well for almost two years but on vacation i started allowing myself a non low carb sonething and another and at the end of the vacation i was completely off track. I spent another couple years on and off keto until i gave up. I so regret not taking my health more seriously. As of this year, i turned 50 with BP edging up and my A1C at 6, i decided to give carnivore a try. It has been the best decision! My A1C is back in normal range, BP is coming down and 25 pounds off. I allow myself ketovore days and feel this is the way for me. I had one cheat meal and felt so awful that i know it is not worth it. It is hard but i have to do this for my health. Thank you for being vulnerable to show people we are all human, and trying to do our best. We can do this. We can be healthy. ❤

    Exactly the reason I stopped making keto fat bombs after a year on keto. I just found they kept my sweet tooth alive as long as I was consuming them. I couldn't moderate, so I just stopped making them. After going carnivore in Oct 2021, I no longer crave those foods. Cookies can sit on the counter for DAYS, and I never have the urge to have one. Given what I've since learned about oxalates and other phytotoxins, I'm glad I stopped. Most of the keto bomb recipes involve things like almond flour that are just LOADED with oxalates!

    It's not your fault. The American diet was established a long time ago. I grew up with five brothers and sisters. We were poor. If it wasn't for PB&J's and bologna sandwiches with Kraft American cheese we would have starved. You can break the cycle.

    I feel you! Today I fell off the "ketovore wagon". I'm mostly carnivore, but i eat green olives at times and sometimes a slice of Claussen pickle or just the juice. Those things help with cravings. I also eat an avocado a few times a week, but that's the extent of it. Hence, I call my diet Ketovore. I did keto for years, lost 76 pounds and as of the dreaded 2020, I gained 30 back. (Yes, I blame 2020, no work, no money, and the isolation)
    If you don't mind suggestions, maybe you could make crackers out of cheese for your son. They don't take long. Even so, I'm not sure if he is old enough to eat those because they can be crispy. (I don't want to suggest a choking hazard.) You could make keto "bread" or muffins or even protein sparing bread for him and put natural sugar free peanut butter on them. And maybe some butter. I can't recommend allulose or any artificial sweetener, because I know nothing about giving that stuff to kids. But i bet you could smash up banana and put it into some plain yogurt or cottage cheese if he will eat that. Or berries?
    Neisha Berry has toddlers. Not sure if you watch her channel but you may find suggestions from her since she shows what she feeds them on her channel.
    You already know this stuff, I'm sure. I want things to work through for you and your family. I feel you, truly. I subscribed to your channel today. I know you're going to win! It can be hard to resist when there are others in the household who aren't following a like diet.
    By the way, I loved the picture you posted. You look so lovely in the dress! Best wishes sent.

    I was on a diet that actually worked it was somewhat restrictive but it worked and the thing about diets is if you don't have the mindset no diet no lifestyle change will ever work unless your mindset is into it. When people ask me why I gained the weight back from that diet that I was on I tell them that know the diet didn't fail me but I failed the diet I went off the rails with my mindset my stinking thinking gotten away and I went back to eating normal garbage food. And as many times as I tried to go back to that diet that worked I could never ever ever do it again😢 which is why I decided to go carnivore cuz I like my meat and I like my fat😊

    In the four months I have been on carnivore I guess I had a few cheat days; like on my birthday I had a little a slice of cake; I have at times added a veggie or a piece of fruit; I have not eaten any process foods; I have lost 23 lbs in these four month ; in the month of August I have lost a total of 3 lbs. which is not much; however the only way I can stay on this way of eating is to considering this a life style; I don't see myself as having an addiction to sugar or certain foods; I can not myself as being restrictive; eventually once I loose the weight I want I will be adding more veggies and more fruits; however this will be the exception; I am happy with losing only 3/5 lbs a month and letting my body adjust to the weight loss.

    I also did the carnivore diet for the last 2 months and I failed miserably.. I usually don't crave bread or rice but after a week all I was thinking about is eating a loaf of bread.. I kept restarting the diet but after a week or even a few days I end up going insane and losing sense of reality and binge eating junk food like crazy. What I learned is that jumping head first into the carnivore diet is not a good idea. Im going to add fruits, veggies, and grains back into my diet and slowly lessen them and increase my meat portions every week until my body not so dependent on sugar and carbs.. cutting sugar and carbs right away is just like cold turkeying a medicine and I don't recommend it.

    IMO, you have failed nothing. This is the process. Failing only happens if you give up. We are all human. We have setbacks. Assess, adapt, overcome. The addiction is the thing that wants to draw you into a depressive emotional whirlpool. Just say, "No Thanks". You are doing the right things. Focus on your why. Understand the issues that are challenging you. Make and execute a plan to overcome. Part of the baggage we need to let go of is not just the weight. The mental dysfunction associated with our addiction is the demon we have to let go of. You are in control. You are working in your best interests. You can make any choice you want to today. Make the choice to get the life you want. Lean on your community. We are all rooting for you. My two cents.

    Duuuddeee I thought I was the only one. That habit is just to show how this really is a real addiction. I was a pill addict for a long time and I noticed the same habits and justifications when doing keto and now starting carnivore. Last night the craving was so bad I literally took one bite of TWO DIFFERENT kids yogurts, a bite of peanut butter, and three grapes in secret so my wife wouldn’t see me mess up (even though she could care less. Def not a meat person). It was so shameful just like when my pill addiction was at its peak.

    It might help to look at families who have small children on the carnivore diet! :) Here's one example: ruclips.net/video/rmKb7PQQnMc/видео.html The temptation simply can't exist. Sugar is more addictive than COCAINE so you're battling something very real! It also might help to keep in mind that switching back and forth, can't be good for the system. :) I fell off HARD after my first 10 days and I DON'T have a sweet tooth BUT, I got fumbled because I used to drink SWEETENED coffee and teas! Although I'm a REAL water drinker, every blue moon, coffee, tea, homemade lime/lemonade would be nice so, I had a coffee! That ONE cup set me back 1 full week! And then I realized I'd have to "knuckle" my way through it! The long term bad health just isn't worth it. :) The fact that you want to break the cycle is a good start to overcoming this. And think about it like this, it took a lifetime to get where you are so it will take time to reverse it. :) Best of luck and continued success! FOOTNOTE: Look at Dr. Anthony Chaffee's video on "plants are trying to kill you". :) EYE OPENING!!!
