I love Paul Rueben’s, usually great quality and affordable for the amateur artist, thanks to you and Paul Rueben’s for the swatching session.
I watched Miranda Watson’s RUclips video that was released yesterday (April 2), and she had difficulty with the Indigo from the same Paul Rubens palette, but didn’t have trouble with the Prussian Blue or the Burnt Umber. So curious that the palettes can differ like that. Thank you for your detailed swatching.
Thank you for this cozy swatching video 😊 The Indigo and the Prussian Blue should look different.. It’s a bit of a shame.. And thank you for your words in the end. I wish you the best ❤
From what I have been seeing... I prefer their older releases more, even the ones in the turquoise box tubes. I do have their newer Qiaomei 24 pan palette as well as the tube version of it, and I think they may be the hidden gem of the Paul Rubens line.
I have this exact palette but I haven't opened it yet. Now I'm curious if I'll have the same problems with those 3 colors that you found here (Indigo, Prussian Blue and in my opinion, the Burnt Umber). I have their older palettes and no, those colors aren't supposed to look like that. If mine does the same thing, I will contact them and see what they say. Thanks for a great swatching session!
Hi Miranda! 🥰It will be really interesting to see if those colours behave the same way in the palette you have!
@@lilymoonart I'm swatching them right now. I'll let you know!
@@lilymoonart The Indigo was weak but not as weak as yours and my Prussian Blue and Burnt Umber were just fine. I'll email Paul Rubens today to see what they say about the Indigo, and I'll mention your channel and the 3 colors, too. I'll have my video on it out tomorrow at some point.
@@MirandaWatsonArt Thank you Miranda! ❤I'll lookout for your video as I am so curious to see what the colors look like in your palette! ☺
Paul Rubens was my first palette (the original one in the pink palette). And they served me pretty well. But I learned - too late as most newbies - that you are better off with less colours and better quality. Thank you for sharing!
Lily, every palette looks better When you swatch them!🥰
I always enjoy your videos. Always so relaxing and calming. That's so weird about the Indigo. It must be a mess up at the factory. 🙄
I have the pink pallet. It was my first pro grade. I' be interested to compare it with this one but I don't need any more paint😊. Im puzzled by the duds. Bad batch? It happens. I'd let the company know. The indigo is a nice transparent color but definitely not indigo.
Paul Rueben's has many pallets and tube sets out there. One issue I have with Paul Revere is that except for the separately named Meiliang/Pretty Excellent and Caroline lines, its hard to tell where they sit in the line. They keep coming out with more and more. I was tempted with the 4th generation tubes but I'm experimenting using pure pigment so went with the cheaper 36 Meiliang set. I have all kinds of paint and I have to say the 36 set is lots of fun.
Thanks for the review!
Thank you for swatching and doing your nice videos!
Thank you for watching Msfrehel! 🤗❤
What a shame about those few colors, otherwise it looks like a pretty decent palette.
Also, I just want to thank you. Your videos are always so comforting, and the little inspirational/hopeful message at the end is so uplifting.
❤️Thank you dellearts ❤️🥰
i think that is the first orange i have seen that i actually like! 🥰
Have you tried WN transparent orange ?
Fantastic video, so satisfying ☺☺
What a nice ending of the Hollidays.
Thank you so much!
Thank you and Happy Easter! ❤❤🥰
Thank you for this lovely swatching video, Lily 🙏. I've got the Opera Watercolour set by Paul Rubens in tubes and they got rock solid when putting in pans. I pre-wet them the day before I want to use these colours. Maybe they use a different kind of binder?
I haven’t used Paul Ruben paint, but the internet says they use gum Arabic as binder. Next time you put them in a pan, try adding a drop or two of glycerin. Works like a charm on Winsor and Newton brand.
Thank you for this video. For me a no go.. to simple... and then with the indigo and pr.blue😢
When pigments are mixed together to from a “color” like Pb 15:3, po45, pb7( just making these up) this provides very very great difficulties ………. Why? Because it is soooo easy to create a muddy mixture, with so many pigments mixed together! The indigo looks very very over bound, and totally unusable! I would not spent $1 on these, glad you were given them!ClaudiaSJI
Hello🤗💕
Hello. 🥰 How nice of them to send you products to try. How do you like their paper?
Hi Tracy! 🥰The paper is quite nice to work on - it s texture is something between CP and HP :)
@@lilymoonart Goldilocks paper. Just right. ☺️ 🤩 I'll have to give it a whirl. 😀 🥰
PR watercolors are usually very good. It's too bad what happened to the indigo. Indigos are almost always deep, dark blackish blues. They're a fave blue of mine. Holbein's indigo watercolor is my top indigo right now as it is a blend of phthalo blue, lamp black and quin magenta. The quin magenta makes it look stunning when placed next to a magenta or a deep cool red or red violet. But something is def off on the PR indigo and I guess the other blue and yellow ochre? Looks like PR needs to work on their quality control.
How does the Indigo/Prussian look on the leaflet?
Both are much deeper and richer than what you see in the video :(
I just found your site…looked for videos you have painted…no luck….you just swatch paints????
I do want to try these! Please let us know if the color issues are resolved in dome way. I’m not familiar with the brand and curious also about the PR oil pastels.
Hi there! Paul Ruben's has let me know that they are looking into the issue, but unfortunately i don't know when they are going to resolve it with this particular palette ❤️
Is the second green really just PG7? It looks a lot like it would have some other color in it. It is far to opaque for a phtalo.
Hi Marina! I double checked the leaflet to be sure, and they are both marked as just PG7. Just like you, I am a little surprised by their opaqueness!
