If you put it under the white dress then it won’t be shear and the lace at the bottom will just slightly show out the bottom. Super cute. Even if there is a delay such as weather it’s better to tell the buyer before they have to ask ! It kinda makes sense that it took a while when you take in the fact that they really considered your style and had to find all the pieces that fit it. The 2 weeks was probably just the shipping time. But it seems like they literally looked for pieces that fit your style and waited for the right pieces versus sending in what they had.
You should make yourself a little white, off white, or nude slip dress that you can wear under see through items. If you can sew a straight line, it is very easy to do and it will be so practical. Maybe even make a small cami and a mini slip skirt as well, just so your bases are covered.
For the red gingham - you could always do a milkmaid style with it! If you cut a slit under the bust , dart the lower section to fit then gather the upper section down. It would def need a zip or something to get on/off but it would fit you and your style more!

Then the top being a bit loose looks cuter because it´s a crop top. And the skirt part can now sit higher on you, therefore there‘s more room for your hips and it becomes shorter ☺ i hope that makes sense ❤
