Your painting guides have been by far the most helpful. I still haven’t committed to buying the core set but I know that when I do I’ll have these videos to guide me through it. Seriously loving the content man.
personally, I like using a metal base coat an then going over with a contrast paint, gives them the most lovely shine, especially for the super battle droids, iron warriors and then basilicanum grey
Love it! I was thinking contrast would be great for these models, glad to see the finished results can be as good as i imagined them to be! Thanks for the great video!
Yup, tried contrast for the first time on these. I hate them. Still ended up highlighting with my airbrush. I will say you got better results than most people on the Tubes. Well done
Look great, Contrast paint really is a blessing for something like these. I can see even a slow painter like me knocking out a horde of these in relatively no time (my current highest models painted for the *year* is about 20).
Excellent work on the paintjobs, me and my Dad are planning to do a Clone wars campaign, I decided to do up a Droid army with a mixture of units from the Prequels and Battlefront II 2005.
I was wondering what color you would recommend to paint some of the “Geonosis” droid paint scheme from the movie Star Wars Attack of the Clones or in the Star Wars Battlefront 2 video game? It’s the dark red color.
Hey man, ive got a little problem with painting my b1's... Couldnt get my hands on the wraithbone spray, so i used corax white instead, but it seems like the skeleton horde isnt properly covering the primer, and if i get too much skeleton horde on it it turns out too dark... you think the primer can make this much of a difference?
Thanks for making a great beginner-friendly tutorial! I'm new at painting and your tutorials make it much more approachable than I thought it would be. Since I don't know the paints too well yet, what paint would you recommend for those brownish-red Geonosis themed battle droids? Citadel's tuskgor fur seems like a good match, but since I'm new and don't have a lot of paints just yet I'd love to hear what y'all think. Thanks again!
Another great Star Wars legion video, can’t wait for you to paint general grievous. Is there any chance of you painting these B1 droids using less contrast paints like your clone video? Keep the vids come
Did you use any finishes on your minis? Or do the contrast coats act as them? Also I am planning to start painting minis myself, it doesn't look too hard, is there something i am missing? Or is it actually achievable for a first timer to get this kind of quality?
@@Zorpazorp Thanks for the response! I ordered a bunch of paint a few days ago and am relatively new to all of this. How many coats of primer did you do? I can't find a lot of information about that online...
Just found your channel. Enjoying the paint tutorials for the new SW Legion Clone Wars release...subbed for more. :) Out of curiosity, what game mat is that at ~10:55?
Thanks buddy!! It's an old print from an Aussie company that doesn't seem to be available any more :( but I'm sure there'd be similar stuff from the various Game Mat suppliers around.
@@Zorpazorp Thanks for the reply. I've got a number of mats from GameMat.eu, FFG, FLG, and Deep Cuts but surprisingly no 6x4 brown-ish mats...hence looking for one. With regards to your paint guides, I've got to say I'm not a huge fan of contrast paints but they seem to work exceptionally well for the droids/droidekas. Definitely going to have to give them a try using your guide. I also really love that Vallejo-GW chart you linked to ... super useful.
Do you ever have to break up the pieces in the basing material? Mine came in today and I tried basing some models but all the stones were really big compared to what yours looks like.
Definitely not man for the Mars Earth, there's always mostly sand and then some bits of larger aggregate, which exact product did you order? And did you get it from me or elsewhere?
Zorpazorp I got two packs from Geek Gaming only cause the shipping was a bit easier to manage. One bag had torn open a bit in the shipping box and spilled some but I managed to get most of it back into a container and the rocks all seem pretty big. I just thought that was normal and started breaking them up a bit.
@@buckwild5369 It depends on the specific blend, some of them are larger and some of them like MArs Earth, tropical beach are a much finer blend. Have a look on the photo on the site and if it seems like the product you got doesn't match the photo just drop the guys a line at Geek Gaming and they'll sort you out. They're absolute legends :)
Skeleton Horde is a contrast paint so it doesn't have an equivalent, honestly man jist by Skeleton Horde it's freaking amazing you won't regret it :) Otherwise maybe Ushabti Bone or Zandri Dust with a wash maybe? Not sure to be honest a lot of my base colours are Vallejo.

do you need to wait for it to dry brush? or basically go straight into it
@@kilroywashere0361 Let the glue dry first mate :)
@@kilroywashere0361 And you may want to seal it with Sealant spray :)
Zorpazorp sorry I meant the base coat
@@kilroywashere0361 Let it dry bro :)
I must say 'contrast paints' were the one thing I was thinking of for these ... good to see that skeleton horde is perfect for this.
It's probably my favourite contrast paint ,:)
Dude seriously you've made battle droids cool! How is this even possible??? :-) Great work, I love that paint job. "Geonosianfy the bases!"
🤣🤣🤣 thanks Brento glad you like them! Personally I can't wait to crush them with the might of the Republic 😊

Thank you so much buddy :) :)
Loving the Star Wars content, going to be jumping into Legion with Clones Wars myself
Hell yeah Kraken, I'm so pumped by it. Got heaps more planned too
Love it. My son is going to be playing Republic and I'll be going with the clankers. Looking forward to having my droids stomp some clones soon!
Are you going to build a geonosian battlemap?
Sure am dude 😊😊😊
@@Zorpazorp glad to hear
You want me to like the video roger roger. More seriously great video man!
Check it out Astolbro, we'll cover you.
UH OH BLAST THEM!!
jumping into the clone wars starter set late, but this is probs the best painting guide for b1's I've come across
Thanks mate glad it helped!
You can never be late joining a game. Have fun!
Great job Lachie, the contrast paints work really well for these figures. I may have to purchase a droid army when they come out!
It's so much fun man you'll love it haha. They come together so quickly!
personally, I like using a metal base coat an then going over with a contrast paint, gives them the most lovely shine, especially for the super battle droids, iron warriors and then basilicanum grey
Yeah I did that for my droidekas :D
Contrast paints seem like a godsend for this models.
Had not really interest in the "normal" SW Legion, but im getting this one for absolutely sure!
That was the same for me bro! I love clones wars!!
Star Wars: lets have these super detailed droids with tons of cool gadgets on them, we should paint them some cool colors!
Also Star War: tan
hahahah oh winnie
Excellent job again Lacky, those contrast paints really do work well on models like these.
Yeah when they're right for the job they're fantastic!
Love it! I was thinking contrast would be great for these models, glad to see the finished results can be as good as i imagined them to be! Thanks for the great video!
Cheers Brian! I LOVE painting droids now hahaha

Thanks buddy... I think haha
Thanks for painting my army for me! They look great!
Check out the Droidekas!
Well there is Droidekas and the maybe some of original stuff like Bossk , Bobba, Chewie, Han and of course Darth Vader. Awesome vid btw.
Starting on Droidekas this week should out soon man! Definitely keen to check out more of the original line at some point 😁
Thanks for the great walkthrough. I just got into Legion, and I'm looving the clone wars kits. FF did a really great job with this line.
Glad you enjoyed! Yeah the Clone Wars stuff is phenomenal!

Hell yeah Juan! Enjoy!
Love your paint tutorials! Can’t wait for some more Star Wars légion clone wars content!
Thanks mate 😁

@@Zorpazorp no, not yet I've only just gotten into Star Wars: Legion, but sounds interesting
Battle droids! I Will Love destroy some clankers with my clones!
i hear that
For the Republic!
Wish i would of seen this before i bought the paint sets. Im completely lost on their paint tables ( im new to all of this)
If I don't have that spray, which white citadel paints can I use for the white coat?
Any white paint will do man, white scar or the old skull white 😊
I was wondering what color you would recommend to paint some of the “Geonosis” droid paint scheme from the movie Star Wars Attack of the Clones or in the Star Wars Battlefront 2 video game? It’s the dark red color.
Oh Luka, you are going to love some of the upcoming videos bro ;)
I would follow closely along with my droideka tutorial, for the dark metallic Red :)
Zorpazorp cool I do like the droideka video.
Fantastic video! I wish I could make my contrast work as well as you are able to.
Anyone can nail skeleton horde and Black Templar man, they're so forgiving! I agree though a lot of the others are a bit tricky.
My CIS army will rise!
For the separatists!
It shouldn't man, head on over to our Facey group and post some photos so we can chat through it :)
facebook.com/groups/zorpazorp
You made that look easy. Is rattle can primer as good as airbrush primer?
Thanks mate! They both have their uses and strengths and weaknesses :) Rattle can primer bonds better I think
Can't wait to get mine!
You'll love them dude!
Hi what colour can I use for the baes instead of the contrast paint
Thanks for this. Are the droids particularly hard to build?
Including the weird little droid dread locks 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
lolololololol
Great video as per usual. Those droids look fab. When can we expect your extra droid colour schemes you mention? I've got some B1s waiting...
Hopefully soon dude, been bogged down with all FFG delays, battle report first!
How do you reapply the base prime when it comes out of a can?
By having a matching base paint in a pot :) GW have released both wraithbone and greyseer in pots as well as the sprays
Could you do the B1 battle droid upgraded expansion
Coming soon mate!!
