TM is safe, it's nothing as these two describe 😂 . I'll admit there is a hidden religious element to TM with the fruit, handkerchief and chanting. At no point are you pressed into believing in anything you don't feel comfortable with though. TM can be what you want it to be. For me it's a relaxing enjoyable experience.
I disagree with anyone who believes that TM is taboo. I am Catholic, and I practice TM to relieve me from anxiety and other mental stress. It makes a huge difference...more relief than any medication could provide. TM a beautiful thing if practiced responsibly, with an opened-mind and not going into it expecting darkness. All my experiences have been pleasant. It doesn't have to be tied to religion, but I like to say a prayer before I meditate, asking Christ for protection, even though TM is really safe (fundamentalists try to scare people and associate it demons...which is complete hogwash and ignorance). The Holy Spirit is my guide during the meditation and I let Him guide me, since He knows the Spiritual realm.
That is the hook, it will deliver for a time, maybe even a long time. It is a religion, it breaks the first commandment , the devil always appears as an angel of light, our daughter got into this with that same idea that it's better than medication, it's great, she now has sleep paralysis, vivid images of other beings, poltergeist type things going on, stomach pain etc. There is so much focus on 'self' she became obsessed with herself, selfies, 'love thy neighbor ' not so much. I know right now it feels great, but if you are a lover of the true God, you'll pay a price down the road. For others, the devil will just use them to indoctrinate others. God bless.
Utter ignorance. In truth TM is simple, natural and pure. Hear what this Catholic priest says about his practice of TM: ruclips.net/video/9UYBmKR3UyM/видео.html
William Stuller the images in the sleep paralysis are just projections of the mind. When seen one should think of them as an illusion, and they vanish. Writing from experience.
With all do respect. I’m Catholic, I believe in Jesus. I attend a weekly Bible reading group as well as Lectio Divina. I also practice Transcendental Meditation and I can neither see nor feel evil in that. Because of the TM I feel less ungry, more empathetic and involve in the church. The TM is not above or against God. God is still above everything. The TM is just a tool and because of this tool (technique) I feel more engage with people from the church and I don’t feel shame anymore about my religion. I think we should be careful with judgement.
What's your take on the Archbishop of Colombia allowing Father Mejia (recipient of the 2008 Archbishop Romero Prize) to teach TM in orphanages? What's your take on the Bishop of Suriname authorizing the teaching of TM in all 40 Church-run schools in Suriname? What's your take on the Jesuit-run Stritch School of Medicine offering TM instruction to all faculty and medical students?
Let me ask this question. How come the Catholic church is so good at identifying all the potential flaws/sinfulness of any other belief or practice, but does very little to address it's own flaws or sinfulness? Such as concealing criminal activities of priests or selling indulgences. Perhaps, the clergy should remove the beam from its own eye, before removing the speck from others.
The religion of Abraham holds to a position to not question anything unless it involves wanting to know the teachings of the church more. Questioning anything of the church will be seen as being diabolically influenced. In other words, ‘I am right, you are wrong. If I question my religion, I am from the devil’. There is also hypocrisy in every religion in that matter, it is human nature
You are god, I am god , we are all part of the divine creative energy part of what we call God. We all belong to the Whole and that's why we are all one. Religion was invented by men...At their convenience and to keep the societies powerless...
Interesting public confession brother, Father Gruner's expression wasn't at all pleased with this revelation, to wit, he even pushed back from the table with crossed arms over his chest; and the Father's response was just as cross.
The Mantra is not the name of any God but is a syllable which enables the mind to focus on the spiritual and transcend the mundane. I'm shocked at 19th century attitude expressed in this video.
bijas are not "names." OM is certainly not a name and the TM mantras are meaningless. They are associated with gods, and the traditional explanation used to explain how they work is that they gods like them. But seriously, if the TM mantras really DO have a measurable effect, either you are saying that Hindu gods, unlike the Christian God, has unique, measurable effects. The TM initiation ceremony is done to honor Maharishi's teacher. The measurable physical effects of the ceremony are meant to put the TM teacher into the right frame of mind to teach, and to put the student in the right frame of mind to learn. And karate and judo have their own rituals done before every class, not just once-in-a-lifetime.
The devil? I don't think so. You can't have relaxation and peace of mind through a demon, demons are nothing but confusion and chaos. I'm a Christian and precisely a Catholic, TM didn't distance me from the Lord, I still love Him and His holy Mother dearly. Here's the deal, you can't believe in nor worship something or a deity that you know nothing about. You got the mantra and the way to meditate, that's it and that's all. To open the door for evil in your life is through bad deeds and your evil mind that refuse goodness, it will sneak to your life in a beautiful shapes then ruin the heck out of your soul. Be aware from that evil, the devil that you invite with an open arms. God bless.
Interesting discussion. I've been putting the pieces together on TM and agree that it is certainly religious at it's core. Whether most adoptors are aware of this or practice TM on religious grounds is a completely different story. Equating it as pagan or devil worship seems a bit absurd and extremely reflexive. There is a science behind it and it does work. In addition, there are many forms of meditation, including Herbert Benson's relaxation response, which is essentially TM stripped of any yogic influence (mantra is replaced by any word you want, there are absolutely no religious overtones and you can learn the basic methodology in literally 20 seconds). This is basically the medically endorsed version of TM. I wonder if these two gentlemen would say the same thing about it.
I would say that it is deeply spiritual at its core, as it expands one's consciousness. But, one is not at all required to believe anything -- even that it will work. The knowledge underpinning it can be verified to be true through one's practice. I'm in my 45th year of regular practice and I am elated with the results. Life has become truly magical for me.
I’m sure they CAN tell you. One thing for sure, anyone can pull a sentence from the Bible and explain it away with an incorrect perception. TM is dangerous (as an ouija board) These things open the door to evil disguised as good. There is a price to pay.
More my way or the Highway, this interpretation is a bit uninformed to say the least. Paranoid, delusional and inaccurate but that's the least of the Church today's problems. Mindfulness and Meditation IS very beneficial.
I am not a TM er. Also not affiliated with any church. I am someone investigating if TM would help me. This video provided me with some information that I found helpful. Alas there is also a lot of ignorance in it. One religion (Christianity) bashing another one (Hinduism). Not objective at all. Why not deliver facts or personal experience without interpretations. Bringing up the devil in the conversation is so beyond factual discussion it is (to me) laughable. Your point : because your friend was in a cult and learned TM it is a bad thing ?? Invoking the devil ??? Please : How is this not brainwashing. Sighhhh
Transcendental Meditation is not "sold" as scientific. It IS scientific. And it is only religion in the sense that the meditator is re-united (re-ligare) to his inner self. It is a very effective cleaning process and has nothing to do with East or West. These two people are still living in the Middle Ages.
Thank you for your question which we will submit for response in our Ask Father video series. In the meantime we note that beyond rejecting the True Faith, Hinduism amounts to worshiping demons. God bless you.
These are just old, scared men afraid of any ideas that challenge them. If you want a nuanced, graceful perspective on TM from a Catholic, check out Father Dubi’s video on the technique. Also, TM isn’t about repeating a pagan deity’s name. Have some knowledge of what you are criticizing before you post this stuff. Ignorance is not a virtue. Not even within Catholicism.
The only true God -- the God of Abraham, Who also established the New Covenant in Jesus Christ -- very clearly established a true religion in this world by which men would render Him true worship.
The word 'aum' isn't the name of a Hindu deity, it's not even a word in the traditional sense. It's a syllable that represents the totality of existence itself. Furthermore, flowers and fruits represent the sweetness of transcendental bliss. It's clear to me that you've not the slightest idea of what you're talking about. This absolutely reeks of xenophobia. It's about as damaging to one's "cultural well-being" as you put it, as water is for plants. Also, occultism is not the same thing as Satanism. Occultism is an umbrella term for mystical practices of all sorts, including Catholic contemplation. St. Theresa of Avila was an occultist. I feel like I should also mention that Hinduism is not polytheistic, it's monotheistic. The various 'deities' are archetypes, different aspects of the one Divinity. Our Lord himself has various titles invoked to connect oneself to certain aspects of his being (Divine Mercy, Christ the King, Pantokrator, Logos, Sophia, etc.). This is also true of the Blessed Mother and a number of other lesser saints as well.
And TM is Contemplative Prayer Centering Prayer and Catholic or Christian Mindfulness is Zen Buddhist Mind Emptying Meditation and Mindfulness 7th of Eightfold path to Satori Enlightenment Demonization and eternal damnation and not wisdom but Tom Foolery and Shitbaggerism

This pastor doesn't seem to know much about hinduism. Calling it pagan is a bit oblivious, at least.
IvoG from the point of catholic theology, which he's speaking from, it is pagan.
I was wrong. TM is full of religious content, but subtle.
What changed your mind?
Hello interesting topic . Fr John Main taught christian meditation using aramaic ma ra na the meaning come lord jesus.
Interesting public confession brother, Father Gruner's expression wasn't at all pleased with this revelation, to wit, he even pushed back from the table with crossed arms over his chest; and the Father's response was just as cross.
Something happened un France católica church today. There are kids involved.
The mantra is not something you repeat at all times ! Mantra comes to the mind automatically !!!

The practices of this form of "meditation" are an opening to evil spirits.

I have met many people who tried Benson's 'technique'. The result was headaches. Not at all like TM...

Can anyone of these two tell us, "HOW TO BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD." ...from Bible

And I can Transcend.
Can I use "Yeshua" as mantra? This is Jesus's name in Aramaic. That would deliver promises of TM chanting our Lord's name.
We would caution you against having any part in this dangerous and demonically oriented practice regardless any such modifications. God bless you.
Sorry..... no evidence for your assertions. NEXT!!!!!
They don't really understand Hinduism.
Hahahaha this was really funny
The Devil makes you sign contracts.
Sin, devil? Truth is in silence
Whats wrong with being a Hindu?
