This is EXACTLY how I've been going about cutting for the past year I'm down from 240+ to 170. Friday/Saturday I allow myself the most calories out of the 7 days, Sunday is just shy of a maintenance day & then Monday-Thursday are in a deficit with cardio + strength training 4-5 days per week. Mixing up the calories allows me to enjoy the weekends with friends & I'm not left feeling like I'm missing out on life it's way easier to just buckle down for the week days than trying to be perfect every single day

My brother laughed at me because I tracked my calories for 2 years and he said he couldn’t be bothered with tracking. I lost 30lbs, he gained 15lbs. When he asked me how I did it I told him exactly what you said in this video, I hated being fat more than I hated tracking calories. Love your channel and straight forward “real talk” approach. Finally motivated me to stop being a lazy fat slob and change things. Started out on the first week of November 2022, was 169.5kg at 196cm (yeah, I know, I am a fat, albeit tall slob). Dieted down to 157.5kg by end of January.
Signed up for gym on 5th of February 2023, so almost 3 months now. Went from 157kg down to 144kg right now in those 3 months. First 6 weeks were 3 days of full body splits, just to get used to training (also first weeks were brutal in terms of muscle pain during recovery). Last month switched to push/pull/legs for 6 days. Never felt better or stronger in my life, at 32 I feel better than I did when I was 20.
Also getting insane progress in terms of muscle growth/strength. When I started I could barely bench 12x3 just the barbell. Now I am up to 70kg. Same with deadlifts - could barely deadlift 50kg at 12x3, now I am up to 140kg.
But still ways to go, need to lose at least 35-40kg of fat. Hopefully in a year or two I will achieve my goal, but changing my lifestyle with diet and going to gym gave me lot of discipline to keep going.

I've lost weight before by eating in a 700-calorie deficit on weekdays and eating (mainly drinking to be honest) around maintenance at the weekend. I'd also try to do some form of cardio on the Saturday morning, whether that be a hike, bike ride or just some time on the treadmill or cross trainer.
Worked a treat and I still got to go out and enjoy my weekends.

Love this. I think other women can relate in that I try to use this mentality on a monthly basis. I’ve found it’s way easier to manage my calories and be proud of how I eat at the beginning of my cycle and towards the end it’s much harder so I’ve started planning my eating habits knowing this and giving myself grace at the end of my cycle but staying responsible at the beginning. Maybe too much information, but it’s too relatable (in my head). Idk what the ratio is men to women that watch these videos.

I have a calorie target of 3100 on rest days and 3300 on training days. The way I handle this is that any deficit or surplus at the end of the day rolls over into the next. If I ate too much, I already start the next day with those excess calories accounted for. If I ate too little, I start the next day with a negative calorie value. This even works on a cut when I massively overeat and drink at a festival and then average out the excess over the next couple days.

Because you don’t really lose weight daily (thanks a bunch keto! 🙄) you lose weight over prolonged periods so the calories have to be good over an extended period. It’s funny but true! The less I eat (currently fasting and also cutting carbs, but this is to help with my epilepsy) the more weight I lose! It’s simple really but hard to break bad habits. Takes a lot of willpower at first then you get used to it. I am seeing results (losing about 2lb per week and have 12 to go) so that motivates me, I’m also exercising more (this helps me mentally more than for losing weight) and can see and feel muscle definition and just don’t feel so lethargic!
If you really want it, you can do it! Most who fail just don’t put in the mental effort (kick up the arse when you go to eat those biscuits or sweets between meals etc)
    Love these videos btw ❤

I knew a long time ago that weekly calories were more important than daily and I know you will hate me saying this but Weight Watchers kind of trains you to do this. You save your points for special events. I do intermittent fasting 18/6 to help restrict my snack window. I’m 54 and I’m about 10lb overweight because I acted like a complete slob during the Pando. Lost all my fitness and motivation. My problem is that I’m in Peri Meno and now my restriction days are under 1000 calories which I KNOW is bad. But I had a PT in 2017 who told me to eat 1200 and I didn’t lose any weight. I got super fit though and stayed on the ski slopes that winter. I go to the gym and i try and stay active (NEAT).

Great video. Last year I lost 45 lbs by changing my diet, cardio, and lifting weights. Over the course of the year I began going to old habits and spent a lot of time at my computer for work. My deficit went to shit. After holiday in April I'm back on the program making my own food, tracking every calorie, walking 3 miles every morning, riding 20 miles 5 days a week and losing weight nice slowly. Well, 10lbs in 7 days but most of that might have been rum from our family vacation in Florida. Numbers don't lie. For me, what takes my specific plan to the level, is weight lifting. I will begin that part very soon. I only need 3 days a week with my Marcy gym and make it the same habit I have with my intake and cardio. One of the greatest benefits of becoming fitter at my age of 56 is the quality of sleep I get every night. Thanks for the straight talk. There is not enough of that in the world. Everyone wants to hear what they want to hear and then wonder why programs don't work for them. There is doing and there is excuses. Nothing more.

I don't track my calories at all...I've lost around 18kilos. I just eat a decent meal and workout more and on weekends I train Muay Thai and then eat like a monster. Not sure if its the right approach but seems to be working!!

Just skip breakfast and have a balanced first meal of the day, usually a smoothie with 40g of protein in it and 700cals. That seems to stop me from trying to eat an entire cupboard of food in the evenings.
Oh, and nothing delicious in the house except fruit.

I drink every other Friday night. I skip lunch that day to make up for it. Sometimes I still go over a little but twice a moth I can make it up. Side note, tracing paper, holy shit haven't seen that in 40 years

I think the most difficult thing for me is that if I workout 3 days a week. My maintenance calories are 2100. Which seems like a good amount. But that means my cutting calories are 1800. Which is not a lot, food adds up so quickly. I am honestly jealous of people that maintenance calories are 3000. Man it would be so much easier if my maintenance was higher! It sucks but it’s reality. But I really struggle with tracking because of this.
