You can tell Philadelphia was already a big city 100 years ago based on the number of large pre-WW2 buildings. The downtown looks and feels a lot older than Toronto. More tightly packed with narrower streets too.

You drove right past my job on 30th and market. I'm surprised you didn't hit more potholes. We usually see them more often after a snow storm due to the salting of the roads opening up the cheap road work patch jobs the city does.

Center City Philly is nice indeed. There are a number of neighborhoods in south Philly that are nice as well as neighborhoods that surround Center City. However, the areas of Philly that are bad are really bad. There is still plenty of nice and historic places that makes Philly a very worth while visit.

I’m from outside Philly but I will say that Toronto is very modern! I went to Canada back in 11th grade and I love the modernity of the city!

It's really only the north end that isn't that great, South Philly and west Philly are alright.
If you live in a big city in America there’s always going to be crimes. Just don’t go to shady areas and you’ll be fine 🙌🏽
