This is brilliant! I remember 2018 well, our little family entry was in front of Marketeers at Bridgwater and we were held at the start for a while. The people of Marketeers came over and complimented us, our costumes and routine: our tiny cart, built in a garage and no where near to their scale. That was the moment I felt involved in carnival. Marketeers gave us space so the crowd could see us and hear us (which doesn't happen every year), I'll always remember that. That one little compliment made my year.
Wow! Amazing, could not stop watching. I did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did. Utterly brilliant... friendship, rivalry and passion... Amazing.
The most emotional part of the film was when the chap from the gremlins came over to congratulate his old mate..you could see the happiness in his face as he looked over before he walked over to give him a hug and you could see the genuine emotion in both of them.as they hugged..i hope they can get there friendship back on track. They BOTH deserve it. ❤
Thank you for the comments, Paul. Really pleased you enjoyed it. When we were at Glastonbury Festival, Alan told me that him, Matt and Kenny have all become closer since the film was made. This made me very happy 🎉
Fantastic- a great story perfectly captured - I never appreciated the skill and labour that went into the carnivals. Great to see such a thriving community experience.
This is going to become a yearly ritual. This film is such a good watch. Shot and edited so well. The emotion and tension at the end always gets to you!
Not knowing anything about just the pure effort just to raise enough money even just to get enough money to even build the cart in the first place amazed me ..and thats not to mention the Herculean effort needed just to make the cart look as amazing as they do..wow..obviously thats not taking into account the pure graft needed for the stage show and the effort to perform on the cart pretty much for most of the night..and all the while holding down..jobs..family..and other commitments while building a cart for 18..to 24 hours a night is a absolute miracle!!.if i wore a hat i would take it off in amazement to you.. i have seen the cart in your film and it looked absolutely amazing in real life to the pure theatre of it going down the road while it the cart bounces up and down while the dancers dance and the music thumps into your chest is a feeling like no other..and all the while its bringing the local community closer together while supporting so many good causes...long may it continue and i hope everyone supports it for many years to come so everyone can enjoy the truly amazing spectacle of it.❤✌💪
Bloody love that been a fan of marketeers from when they did cyber star and that brought tears to me eyes to many more success in the future I’ll still be shouting as load I can when you pass give it rice
This was absolutely amazing and really showed what Bridgwater carnival means to all those involved. Brilliant editing and thank you for showing a side to Bridgwater carnival that spectators don't get to see.
Absolutely amazing, the spirit of carnival lives on. Will be Showing this to my Mum. She's 87 and used to be on the stage in the carnival concerts (Shirley Harding) then. Thank you for spreading the joy 😊 😃 😄
Went to this year's Bridgwater Carnival (2022) for the first time, while on a visit to my daughter's in Weston-Super-mare. What can I say, what a show, really enjoyed it and appreciated all the hard work that goes into it. Well done to all. Going back next year for the Carnival.
Excellent sound , picture and atmosphere just like a Marketeers cart of old and highlights the good natured rivalry between the two clubs I had great fun with.....
This is an amazing little documentary that is brilliantly edited and filmed. The passion and friendly rivalry really comes across. You have done yourselves and Bridgwater carnival proud.
@@richardridout1340 hi Richard, Mum soo enjoyed watching you guys that we spent the next 3 hrs going through all the carnival footage we could find. Mum was a member of British Flag + sang solo on stage, soo long ago + won the cup 3 times xxx
Really enjoyed this ! Hope lots of other people get to see it - showcases the brilliance, madness and passion of Bridgwater Carnival and the characters that make it happen.
That's a fab story of something I've watched and enjoyed for years. And , given an insight into an area of carnival I'd not really thought too much of. I was aware building took place etc , but , I'd not thought of it in such a passionate, competitive way. See you all at Glastonbury !! Brilliant. Thank you.
Great docùmentary. RIvalry, passion and everlasting friendships. Great editing, supporting music and wonderful storyline. Well done Bridgwater Guy Fawkes carnival... AMAZING Matt & Alan 👏
I watched this years Carnival and wanted to find out more about how they're made and found this film. That was proper emotional to watch! So so happy for their win, you could see how much it meant to them all.
Always thought Somerset carnival (especially Bridgey!) would make a great subject for a film and here it is, loved it! It’s so good, it deserves a much bigger audience.
@@richardridout1340 Did you ever try to sell this to Sky or any of the TV channels? It's superb! My daughter is a media graduate & we thought it was SO well done, the soundtrack is brilliant, photography, everything! We were in Cary Comedians for 10 yrs, very proud to have been part of the Somerset carnivals, it's made her want to go back to carnival! It had us in tears at the end!
That was a fantastic film! Thank you so much. Lived in Wells until 1982 from the age of 3. Never missed a Carnival. This film evokes such passion for the projects. One of the greatest things I miss from home, so this has been a joy to watch.
Watched this last night in New Zealand and loved it! Used to live in Bridgwater before emigrating 20 years ago and loved the carnival season. This gave a fabulous insight into just how much work and passion goes into the amazing carts - well done to all involved 👏

Best documentary film I’ve ever seen! Just one question; what the bloody hell does “Give it rice” mean?!
A local term of encouragement ......'Give it rice ' or 'Give it welly' ......Basically 'Give it all you got'......
