📌 Some notes: As you all probably know, Patch 7 is live today. So, I made a video with the promised changes concerning Astarion burning under the sun. I still haven’t figured out how to use mods-probably better to say I haven’t found the mods I NEED, haha. So, this gameplay here is completely unmodded, which is a novelty for me^^ Here, you will see the reactions of Wyll, Jaheira, Halsin, and Minsc-that’s what I could trigger so far, but you’ll understand from the examples what it’s about. And btw, they consider my character at 0:46 as a mindflayer-no idea why, haha xDD

Honestly, as weird as it is that we watch him go through that as his lover and do nothing, this is still good enough for me. It just broke my immersion before when no one would give a fuck that he's literally burning alive because the whole game shows your ragtag team of companions growing closer so seeing no one care about him at the end kind of undid that.
Game literally never shows anyone getting closer with astarion lol. No one gives a fuck about him, hes tolerated, no one particularly like him or is shown to like him. It's weird that YOUR character cant choose to act caring, but the companions arent close with him.

The open-world interactions between companions and the reactions to one another's companion quest definitely reflected that all of the main 6 companions became closer. Karlach and Shadowheart get along with Astarion particularly well and Wyll only tolerates him at first but then in Act 3 if you're romancing Astarion Wyll apologizes to Astarion misjudging him and thinking he had no feelings just because he was a vampire. Astarion also goes from commenting that he'd have loved to see the companions fight it out in Act 1 to genuinely expressing concern over their well-being in Act 3. The only one that Astarion didn't seem to grow closer to at all was Laezel since their open-world banter was always pretty meh and Laezel still doesn't express much worry over the other companions in Act 3.
FINALLY. The non-nonchalant 'sucks to be him' attitude of the previous version really made me see some of companions in a more negative light. Still sad you can't run after him as his romantic partner. Also screw the gods, the gang did THEIR dirty work and they can't even do Astarion and Karlach a teeny tiny favour.
YES! This is what I wanted - more empathy from the NPCs. Now I just need them to fix that ridiculous line Astarion has in a Durge run, after literally watching the love of his life die in front of his eyes.
Ya know this plus the fact that apparently narrator has more Durge exlusive dialogues make me kinda glad my saves got borked with the patch. I was so close to the climax of the Act II but I will replay the game with pleasure. Now I'm only waiting for a certain dragonborn mod to be updated and viable as well as one simple inventory one(that one actually borked my saves) and I'm good to go!
Really, a Darkness spell could protect him from the sun long enough to find sanctuary. Then again, he does not run far to find it... still, if my friend was burning I'd try to do something. Throwing a cloak over him would not work (you can clearly see his clothes burning), so dim light or darkness is what he needs. If they could at least add a little, "I'm okay! Seems I'll have to catch up with you after sundown!" or something... 🤔
I got Wyll's reaction. He was like a between of "Oh no, anyways" and "Oh no, and proceeds to recite a poem" 😅 So far ive seen him, minsc and halsin reacting on yt. Does any other companions get a day too? I wonder what Gale would say hmmm
I want to use the mods but I have no idea wat to do. The new patch comes with a mod manager on the menu screen. So I downloaded some and enabled them. But it doesn’t want to load any of my save files unless I disable all the mods.

Did you finish Wyll's quest with him as the Blade of Avernus as the ending? I think you need that for him to be able to go with Karlach

This is better. Still weird we can’t shield him or cast darkness or…anything physical. But beggars can’t be choosers. 🤷🏽♀️

Haha yeah you're right; and it's an unmodded gameplay, normally (with fine working mods) I always have something to wear for all of them^^
Fun fact: they actually sprinkled acid on Neil Newbon for the burning Astarion scene. Talk about method acting!
