Those money laundering skills are crazy
Mobsters would be impressed.
Gotta pay execs 1000x the rate of everyone else
Thanks
There must be some top heavy C-Suite payouts from that budget.
😂😂😂😂😂facts!
Damn it, I thought I had covered my tracks…
LOL😂
I luv the name bro.
We know it went to you and your wife lol 😂
WHAT THE FUCK
Bro created a Leslye headland account to make fun of her. Respect ..
It’s even higher now? That’s insane, what were Disney and Lucasfilm thinking?!?
I don't think they were
Those women sitting in lucasfilms must have dirt on george lucas or disney execs. Cause no way
Money laundering 🤑🤑🤑
its money laundering
Has to be a money/tax scheme..
Money Laundering: A Star Wars Story
Good writer's should write this down for a documentary on Disney
With a total runtime of 329 minutes, That's $911,854 per MINUTE. Where the fuck was that money going
Basil upgrades cost a shitload...
It’s even more insane when you break it down like that
most likely political figures *cough cough* kamala
I’m not really that good of math, but Jesus Christ! That seems accurate.
When you consider there is a lot of time just wasted on nothing in the show that's just insane.
The people she needed to pay off were expensive.
You mean china?
I start to think that KK has lost the key to the money vault. That is I believe why Bob Iger did come in and canceled any future plan
Thank you for your honesty and for never pulling click bait or exaggerating for views. This is rare on RUclips these days.
"I don't know what the heck in that show cost $300 million"
I can tell you three things right now:
1. Blatant corruption & money laundering
2. Defamatory campaigns against RUclipsrs who criticize their garbage content and fans who refuse to buy it.
3. Bad marketing.
I don't think this budget includes marketing.
@@beskamir5977 I promise you Disney paid off all those actors, actresses and journalists to promote this garbage. That's where the budget went
The fact this show even came close to Dune 2s budget makes me truly believe there is some sort of criminal activity being hidden.
I wouldn't doubt it. Dune 2 could have had an even smaller budget and still be good because it has competent filmmakers working on it, and great source material to draw from. A bad filmmaker will make a bad film, no matter how much money you give them. They also had great source material to draw from, and still f'ed it up.
I wouldn't be shocked if Leslie headland, Harvey wienstiens personal assistant, was involved in something illegal
180 million 💰
230 million 💰💰
300 million 💰💰💰
EVERYONE AT DISNEY NEEDS TO BE FIRED. FROM BOB IGER TO THE JANITOR. CLEAN HOUSE!!!
Won't happen
Janitor really? Someone has to be doing the cleaning to clean house…
The janitors might be the only people there doing their jobs, let’s not be too hasty.
My uncle is a janitor. "NOOOOO!"
Call fumigation!
How can revenge of the Sith with over 20 various CG Locations and planets, dozens of new CG models, many alien Costumes, a peak music Composer, and insanely stunning Effects have less of a budget than this show?
Heck, even Ahsoka & Boba Fett look more expensive than acolyte.
A waste of budget if you ask me
Acolyte looked like one of those cheaply put together plays you see in schools compared to like you said the stunning effects and visuals of ROTS
Tbh we need to put that budget of ROTS in an inflation calculator. Because 200 million back then aren’t 200 million now
Edit: after calculation (chat gpt) the budget from ROTS was 178 million in today’s economy.
@@Hugabugahugabuga still, considering the claim of being more expensive than any modern Star Wars show, really doesn’t help it looking half assed for its budget
I was an investor during the Nelson Peltz attempted hostile take over, earlier this year. He SHOULD have been on the board. He was one of the single biggest share holders and had the backing of the shares of others but there is an IDEOLOGY on the board and in the the investor share holders. This is a political entity now. The people on the board are not shareholders. They don't own the stock. They are friends of Bob Iger. 70% of shareholders voted to keep Nelson Peltz off the board who wanted to start creating change to get Disney profitable again (technically more profitable). EVEN GEORGE LUCAS HIMSELF chose to back the current situation on the board even though he's hated what Kathleen and Bob Iger has done with star wars....
THIS IS IDEOLOGY NOW....NOT STORY TELLING
Thank you for your honesty and for never pulling click bait or exaggerating for views. This is rare on RUclips these days.
Why would Disney green light any single project for $300M? As a shareholder, I’m pissed!!!!!!!!!
The production budget of Snow White is around 500m currently. This is what Disney does.
Andor was 250 mil
Their shareholders should sue them
Quite a few more projects are worth that or more, and some have even been profitable. Look at RoI.
That's a question that their shareholders should be asking. _Especially_ a project set in the High Republic, which they already _knew_ had no audience.
Never forget one of the interview talked about the wookie jedi having to be cut cause "BUDGET" yet nothing of this show even suggest any money spent
Hi there.
This should be looked into. I’ve said this looks like laundering since the start. Zero shot this cost 300m. Makes me mad how all of our games and shows are ruined. We should be getting peek stuff.
One of things that made the Clone Wars feel so special to me was how in the behind the scenes features, they talked about how they frequently referenced the OG trilogy and the Prequel movies. And that dedication to quality showed in the Clone Wars series.
Absolutely. For all its flaws and pretty large quantity of mundane arcs, I believe that what was great about the Clone Wars made it well worth the watch!
$300M, and that was the best that Headland and Disney could come up with. How hilariously pathetic. 🤦🏻♂️
What? It was soooo amazing it made KK cry 😂😂😂
@@mikeabbaticchio5754ya know you're right, KK is the quintessential star wars fan, she knows best after all 😂
It looked cheap. It FREAKING LOOKED CHEAP!!! Even crap like Kenobi looked better.
I’m tired of the cheap studio Disney channel look that all these shows have now.
@@fosterduncan7 Yeah, same. It's likely because they're shooting with that projection screen behind them on sets instead of shooting on location, like Lucas did in the films. At $300 million, you'd think they could afford to do some location shoots.
Kenobi was good, if didn't count episode 6. Its pointless.
"Even crap like Kenobi" is a wild reality.
First, where the hell did that money go? Second, that's $230 million, PLUS the marketing (which has already been reported between $50-$100 million). Third, how does KK still have a job?!?
There are plenty of people embezzling.
Just like the game "Concord" - it went up to $400 million because the board/shareholders really thought going all-in on DEI would work. That's why last year Bob Iger said they have to move away from 'messaging'. But, we're going to have to deal with stragglers that had been in development already. I would guess Disney did spend more to un-DEI some aspects (reshoots), which could explain why the show feels disjointed and missing logic.
As a person invested heavly in the company, they do invite people to the calls and meetings, but when it comes to expressing opinions, disney doesn't care, our voting ballots have (disney recommends) with every vote. These recommendations are usually against what the investors want, but keep in mind higher ups have so much stock in the company that it creates a disney deadlock, which makes our votes pointless. I can say there was a campaign for investors to buy more stock to try and pad our votes but it ended futile at the last quarter votes.
Hi there.
KK: It's Not About Money, It's About Sending A Message. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
0:21 Fulfill my laundering
I’m sure Amandla was paid more than Ewan as well to show that they don’t “discriminate” against coloured women
Probably not
That’s crazy because it looked like it was on the lower end of budgets.
Careful Theory! You make too much sense, someone will try to cancel you again with a stupid argument💀
Remember, Star Wars Theory has a desire to live a long and prosperous life. He has never stated being depressed or emotionally charged. So if anything, only those that hate him want him to quit.
@@YouSuprised Seeing the haters on Theory gives up would be amazing. I hope to see that one day. Theory getting called a racist when he is anything but that is so low.
The Acolyte cost 300 million dollars...the failure is priceless.
These shows are the modern art world of Star Wars, no skill needed to make the art, "critics" praising it, and loads of money laundering behind the scenes.
"Smells like orc mischief to me"
I am most offended that I didn’t get any of that money. Because they were practically giving that money away and it should’ve reached my door.
What I really hate about Nu Wars is how everything looks and feels current day. Characters look and speak how we do in 2024, locations look like all you have to do is hop on a boat or plane to go there, nothing feels alien or that it takes place in a galaxy far far away. It’s all so BORING
Exactly, it doesn't feel like Star Wars at all. It looks and feels like a generic space fantasy story.
Well it proves that money doesn't ensure quality
Not when it’s being laundered
Greatly improved the life quality of the people profiting from this money laundering.
Character and story make a big difference even more than special effects and agendas or messages
Headland needs that sweet hush money, she kept those receipts!
HW: If you dont testify ill give you any series you want.
LH: Any series you say... ?
Ah the true reason why disney wanted everyone to like it. Cost dem moneys.
My investment group used to own quite a lot of Disney. The majority if the board supports this nonsense. After several attempts to right the ship, most investors (my group included) chose to divest as this is toxic behavior appears to be systemic within Disney and the majority of its stock holders, or at least that was our take away before we unloaded our shares.
That's nuts, especially when you compare how much it costs to make some recent films
Godzilla Minus One $15M
Alien Romulus $80M
Deadpool & Wolverine $200M
I get that these movies were only ~2 hours (vs Acolyte's 5.5 hours), but the special effects, writing, and acting all punched above their weight.
We could've gotten another set or these films for the wasted money that went into the acolyte
1:58 funny thing is recently india launched some space missions and it's over all budget is 1/5th of acolyte budget 😂
time where space programs were considered waste of money and expensive have gone 5 times cheaper than a goddamn show. 😂
$300 million?! That’s almost four hundred million dollars!
I love to see risks being taken for big franchises to create something new, but not when the reins are given to non-fans.
Am I the only one who liked Solo? I enjoyed how it broke away from needing Vadar\Luke\The Force to prop it up and it was a solid, stand alone heist movie.
Maybe it’s like the Pentagon…you know…50,000 for a toilet, 20,000 for screw driver, 100,000 for a stapler etc etc
That stapler is important though. But lumberg is trying to take it.
Disney secretly funding Area 51 confirmed!
🤣🤣🤣🤣I just left my body laughing, my actual soul left my body 🤣🤣🤣
I understand this reference
Investors going to eat someone's lunch in the next earnings call, holy hell.
I’ve noticed the more money that goes into the project, the less heart is used.
Idk, Nolan's stuff is pricey but generally strong.
@@LernestW How many Nolans can do that
Many filmmakers say they did their best work when they had less money to work with because they had to get more creative instead of just throwing more money at it.
@@LernestW Actually no, Nolan near always goes under-budget. His last cple films he even came back with part of the original budget un-used. That's what peak planning is. When you know what you're doing & how, when you're a master artisan, it doesn't go over budget if filmed in a controlled environment.
Acolyte was no Apocalypse Now, they took 0, absolutely 0 risk, and they still couldn't hold anything together on any artistic or commercial front.
That's enough credits to rebuild the Jedi Temple.
This is giving me major Concord vibes
Meanwhile ‘Godzilla Minus One’ had a budget of $15 million.
Money laundering
I have to agree with your theory. I actually enjoyed the Acolyte however the choice to give a budget like that to something unknown instead of Kenobi is just incompetence. Whoever allowed that needs to GOOOO!
They should hire people who make good fan films
Yoda charges a lot for cameos
I dunno, I feel like at this point fans would have been way more understanding if Disney just recast the characters and kept them alive then completely changing the entire tone of the franchise and watch them make continued variations of Twilight in space.
Ralph McQuarrie made star wars what it is. He never gets enough credit for taking the original idea of Lucas's simple flash gordon tribute into the unique vision it is today. If the original designs and pitch had been brought to screen, sw would have just been a niche 70s film. Someone should make a documentary just on McQuarrie and his contribution someday
I had a theory that leslie was spending the star wars money on travel and leisure during production more that the actual production itself. because disney has a weird power imbalance, leslie probably used her sexuality and and gender as leverage.
30... they could have made 30 Godzilla minus 1s. Instead they made money laundering.
That's got to be a much bigger money laundrying scheme than anything Walter White could pull off under Saul Goodman's management 😅😂😂
Disney: cooking the books harder than Capone.
I think it's fantastic that Disney is willing to pump such huge amounts of money into Star wars. But do they not even read the scripts before they greenlight the cheques???
Imagine what we could have if they gave that money to talented people who actually love and understand the franchise. Jeez....
Yep ! It's almost like they're saying "who wants to touch it", no sane person would so they're getting scripts from the delusionals...
You don’t get it lol
@@bv657 What?
5:15 - This reminds me of when the Halo show’s opening scene, where on amother planet, far into the future, a human outpost was using early 2000’s Chevy Suburbans, an ICE vehicle which would be about 550 years old at the time of the show.
Imagine if you had that budget to make a Star Wars show, or movie..damn..that would have been amazing
Such a great point, Star Wars really did feel like a story from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. It doesn't anymore, they've lost that.
Right. What can they destroy next? A series based on the exploitation of jabba's dancers possibly...
Rule of thumb is that whatever the stated budget of a project is, the real number is roughly 2x that because of marketing
Lesley got PAID!! Also all her friends got paid
Amazons Lord of the Rings enters the chat. 😂
That’s one expensive mistake. They should’ve left Star Wars to the wizards and not the mainstream. Ruined something so sacred
For reference, the Lord of the Rings trilogy cost $281million
HOW MANY!!?? HOW MANY GODZILLA MINUS ONES WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN WITH THAT!!!?
....And they still managed to fuck it up lmfao
Bro I’d love to hear how much it cost for them to have that Bazil creature to kick Amanda Steinberg
My worry is that now with that show flopping that Disney won’t put a lot of money into other Star Wars projects that have potential but the budget for them will be crap now
Good. They should put no money into star wars and just leave it alone.
Even when you're not doing like real Star wars stuff you still a Hella entertaining critic keep it up man ( Also your sabres are worth every penny
Harvey Winesteins personal assistant gets given huge sums of money by Holliwood movie executives??? I wonder why.......
$300 million??? For that?? The amount of hungry mouths that could have fed
THE POWER OF ONE (season)
What the hell did they spend the money on? The show looked terrible and the highest profile actor was Carriann Moss. Gotta be money laundering, they could have made 2 decent Star Wars films for that much.
Bailouts, agendas, and money laundering.
This money had to be used to fund illegal activity because there's actually no way.
Now I’m wondering how tf Leslie is spending that money, because clearly not enough of it went to the show
Bro really couldn’t help himself by bringing back the screw problem 🤣
Hi there.
Solo story deserves so much more love
The entries from RUclips were counted in the competition. You happened to be the champ...
The smug face on the screenshot sold me haha.
Perspective. Original production budget for SW was 9 Million. Adjusted for inflation to 2024 dollars: about 48 Million. Think about that.... and all the innovation effects wise... wow, just wow. (the budget was later reported as 11 million, but back in 1977, 9 million was the figure all the magazines quoted. But still...)
and just for fun: Between SW initial 1977 release, a 1982 re-release, and the 1997 special edition release, the movie has brought in over $460 million at the US box office. That equates to over $1.9 billion in 2024 dollars
@@HooverTuberCGI are too expensive and they feel unreal and artificial. They should be used to fix practical effects, not replace them entirely.
There is definitely something fishy going on, and im not talking ab the private parts of this lesbian coven in the show.
"They made Godzilla Minus One....WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!"
"YEA WELL WE ARENT GODZILLA MINUS ONE!"
the board is essentially all hand picked by iger, so there you go.
Love your work. Keep it up, Sir. Don't let the bastards get you down.
I'm not surprised about this. Given the info, we got publicly from the UK. Especially after the 230 million reported and that not counting the final reshoots, which would likely make it go to 300 million or more. A lot of wasteful spending, over spending on many staff, catering, possible financial funneling (that being an assumption in my view), distribution and contracts just being dealt freely like a open checkbook, etc.
I commented on the 180 million and said is that including marketing. For people that don't know when they make a movie and it cost 200 million you add 100 for marketing. 300 million so it needs to make 600 million before it makes profits because of revenue splits.
Jesus...imagine all the homless ppl, animals, charities, etc that money could have gone to instead
that would also be mostly wasted, but now in the charity administrators pockets instead
And they are the same people that will say Trump is greedy
It still would have been wasted in charities though
Anyone who went into the acolyte thinking it MIGHT be ok didn’t do their homework and were only fooling themselves.
I’m not *saying* money laundering is happening
Not only darth plageus was in the show, he must've been doing the books (accounting) too. In legends/canon he was a highly regarded banker.
No wonder they took it down for the tax write off... This needs to be investigated by the IRS.
The entries from RUclips were counted in the competition. You happened to be the champ..
4:43 great screen wipes!
It’s way worse. DMED cut billions by assigning targets to all slates across various studios - FX, Disney pictures, SW, Marvel, Pixar, animations, even nat geo. Some projects were stopped during production and written off. Also, this 1 project at $300M is huge compared to others (studio vs. independent). Some annual budgets for studios (many projects) are only $25-$50M. FX just set record for Shogun. Think of the jobs and other work across studios cut for this.
