Kikuo is my favorite vocaloid producer so I’d strongly recommend that! A cool fact about him is that he never learned music theory and (I think) has admitted to not knowing how to read musical notes. He’s learned how to make bangers through years of trial and error. My favorite song from him depends on the mood, but “XXX Cat” “Corpse Dance” and “Emptiness, Emptiness, Emptiness of Emptiness” are really good

maybe it's out of topic but it's actually very interesting how a lot of the old Vocaloid songs are VERY sad and depressing and there's actually a reason for that.
Apparently, in the early 2000s japan were populated by cheery songs, so when vocaloid was introduced to people, some began using it as a form of self expression and used it to create musics that would never ever became true if it was made in the usual way. Vocaloid became a source to truly pour their heart and soul out without the interference of outside sources judging the music you made, and deciding whether it can even be released or not.
And because of this most early vocaloid music are SAD AS FUCK and it clearly resonated with a lot of people who goes through the same troubles and difficulties.
People also started creating vocaloid to produce more daring songs, experimented with it in a lot of unique ways! I'd say that's exactly the charm that vocaloid has with a lot of people back in the days.
It's just so different compared to the songs you'd hear on the radio.
Also hi if you've read this far why don't you try listening to YOASOBI? YOASOBI's musics are all based off on a novel and i think that is a very neat concept! (Except of course for the musics that they made for some certain animes) (also the composer, Ayase, started out as a vocaloid producer) (oh also they were the ones that made Oshi no ko's opening)

      ...Now this explains a lot--
I'm a very happy-go-lucky person who doesn't always feel that way; I'm more melancholic than I seem. But I'm really bad at dealing with and expressing any emotions that aren't positive, so I usually vent it through listening to music, or writing. I'm also very shy, so despite the fact that I adore singing and was in choir for a while, I don't do it a lot.
So Vocaloid covers most of my needs. Expresses darker emotions so I can feel them, lets me hear interesting vocals that aren't humanly possible, lets me listen to music in public without getting too ashamed of someone hearing it -because they don't know the meaning-, and it's all done with visually appealing characters that can mostly be passed off as adorable and befitting of my outward personality. So... It just works. As both a cover and a way for me to understand how and why I feel the way I feel. Now, isn't that interesting? :)

I love how you picked Gomenne Gomenne over Love Me Love Me Love Me trying to pick the one that isn't as terrifying when Love Me(x3) is nowhere near as terrifying, it's just about golden child syndrome, which is a syndrome that parents get when they view their child as so exceptional to the point where its an expectation that puts so much pressure on the child that it can cause them to turn being an achiever into part of their identity, as well as make the child feel unloved because the love the parent gives becomes conditional to the childs success. I just gotta sing my praises for gomen ne gomen ne for a second as a SA survivor.
So many times in media people think the only way to show the gruesomeness of this topic is too just force you to watch it (especially in books/shows/movies) but then it can almost come off as overbearing. Like we get it, it’s horrible and disgusting we don’t need to know about the specifics that went down.
This song however takes the masterful use of extended metaphor by describing it as this mixture of body horror and food which makes you feel disgusting. Nothing I’ve encountered in media had ever really put someone into the shoes of someone whose been SA’d and has to deal with that over bearing feeling of grossness quite like this song does. You feel that shit in your bones and we don’t even really know the specifics of what went down.
Anyways kikuo is absolutely amazing and my other song recommendations for their music are: hole dwelling, and cotton candy (that second one is maybe the most terrifying song I’ve ever heard so, good luck on that one)

I wouldn't exactly consider Butterfly on My Right Shoulder to be a happy song 😅
The song is about an abusive relationship/torturous to the point the singer finds it as regretful as it is pleasant
The butterfly imagery relates to how the singer wants to fly away from the relationship/situation they're in (it could also relate to death of innocence due to the mention of the butterfly being purple -- purple butterflies are often used to symbolize the death of children)
The lyrics also heavily imply the relationship the singer is in is physically and emotionally harming them
My understanding is based on the English translation of the song seen on the vocaloid lyrics wiki along with the description of the song seen on the vocaloid wiki
Everyone's interpretations are different of course but to me the lyrics heavily imply the singer struggling with mistreatment and being co-dependant on the person they're in a relationship with

i'm really glad you reacted to some lesser appreciated songs! (most are still well known, but usually people don't react to them haha. also sorry that a lot of people tend to recommend the extremely dark tunes right away to get a reaction lol)
a lot of what you listened to are older classics still, so here are some of my personal favorite hits from the past few years that i think are absolutely exceptional! you don't have to look at all of these but i'm a sucker for making lists! VVV
Hiiragi Kirai - Galleria (ft. flower)
NILFRUITS - For Dear Life (ft. flower)
PinocchioP - Reincarnation Apple (ft. Hatsune Miku)
Nuyuri - Lower One's Eyes (ft. flower)
r-906 - Psi (ft. Hatsune Miku)
Nanashi Hachiya - Jitterbug (ft. Hatsune Miku, MEIKO)
inabakumori - Lagtrain (ft. Kaai Yuki)
CircusP - Better Off Worse (ft. flower)
Vane - digital/physical heart (ft. ANRI)
also, sidenote: something you'll notice if you look at recent vocaloid songs is that people have started using a vocaloid named flower more often, and that songs more often now tell stories with characters instead of just being the vocaloid themself. it's an interesting shift!

I remember when I was 10 or 11, I found the song and saw a bunch of people being like “don’t google the lyrics guys, please, come on, don’t do it” so naturally, I searched “Gomenne Gomenne lyrics” into google. I saw the first two lines and immediately just closed the tab lmao. if you want to hear more recommendations, though, i honestly recommend listening to any song by Ghost and Pals! i love their songs so much and the lore behind each one is so very interesting. many of their songs have been used as tiktok audios or for animation memes! Gommene Gommene is a powerful song, i'm not sure if it's a good one for a first listen tho lmao, but i'm glad you took it seriously, this song is made to make you uncomfortable and uneasy while listening to ear, just as the subjects its talking about are.
For recommandations, i'll just direct you to different producers :
Wowaka is great, he unfortunately left us years ago but his music has left a lot of impact in the community (just look at the reaction in concerts when his songs come up).
There's pinnochioP, he's my personnal favorite, who does upbeat songs, but he does like to add little depressive notes to them.
Kikuo usually makes music more on the experimental side, with disturbing subjects.
Mitchie M does more upbeat Jpop-like (I guess) songs with self-contained story lines, sometimes it's rather silly, but sometimes it does have notes of something that's deeper.
And finally i'd GREATLY recommend Balloon's song, or バルーン, he does catchy songs that are very drammatic. He also does self-covers since he's a singer. I'd recommend "花に風", since it's one of the music i listen the most lately lol
edit : I don't know if you realised, Kenshin Yonezu, the guy who made KICKBACK, the chainsawman op, used to make Vocaloid songs and was known under the name "Hachi", Sand Planet, the last song you listened in this video, was made by him !

Dunno if you’re still accepting recs but here are some of my personal favorites and some more songs from the artists you listened to:
-Not Photogenic, The Living Ghost is Alive(this one has really cute visuals), and Absolute Music Dance by Utsu-P if you’re interested in the metal side of vocaloid
-Evil Food Eater Conchita by Mothy if you want something with a bit more narrative and teeters towards the dark side a bit (this song is part of a collection of a bunch of other songs that connect together to form a storyline. It’s a very interesting narrative that I would suggest to anyone who wants to get into vocaloid)
-Lost One’s Weeping, Tokyo Teddy Bear, Jailbreak, and How To World Domination by Neru are great songs influenced by the rock genre, Lost One’s Weeping and Tokyo Teddy Bear being the darkest out of these but also some of the most popular and influential of these
-Matryoshka by Hachi is great if you want some nonsensical fun from a song but if you want something more emotional then Donut Hole by Hachi would be great for that
-Villain and Samsa by Teniwoha are both great songs, with Samsa being commissioned by Sega for Project Sekai’s 5th group, Nightcord at 25:00
-A Mistaken Belief of Love, Wozwald, Kilmer, and Shama are some of Nilfruits older, classic songs. Kilmer and Shama are two parts of a story created by Nilfruits but these two songs are the only songs I know of the story. Nilfruits also commissioned a song for Sega to use for Nightcord at 25:00 called Tricologe, so if you want something with a sad twist like most of Nightcord’s music, I suggest giving it a listen.
-The Good Child and the Fox Spirit is one of Kikuo’s more happy songs, using a Chinese vocaloid as opposed to hatsune miku, the voice bank Kikuo normally uses. If you want something more sad but not as sad as gomene gomene, try Hole-Dwelling, Paper Doll (which has a human version sung by Hanatan. Hanatan has made collaborations with Kikuo several times, covering some of his songs so if you want to listen to a human version of Kikuo’s songs, give them a listen), and Kara Kara Kara No Kara (KKKNK specifically uses a lot of sound effects and is very long, as it is 8 minutes long)
-My Love is Hellfire by SLAVE.V-V-R is an excellent showcase of MEIKO’s potential as a voice bank and the song is one of my all-time favorites
-Those Who Carried On is one of my favorite Ghost and Pals/GHOST songs and it’s one of the first English vocaloid songs I’ve ever listened to, showcasing some amazing tunning of GUMI and Yohioloid, a vocaloid I didn’t know existed before I heard this song
-This Is My Heart, A Crow’s Trial, and Perfectly Sweet by Vane Lily are parts of a collaborative project between Vane Lily and several other vocaloid artists, like RIProducer/RIP and Ghost ahd Pals/GHOST, creating a storyline that occurs in hell so it has more darker undertones, This Is My Heart and Perfectly Sweet showing more than others
-Mind Brand, Coin Locker Baby, and Brain Revolution Girl by MARETU are very dark songs influenced by metal, rock, and electronic music. The electric and metal parts come out in Magical Doctor(I don’t suggest Magical Doctor to you as it is a lot more hardcore than the rest of his songs and I would only ever suggest it to someone who is used to heavy metal, artists like 100 gecs, or people who enjoy MARETU’s music)
-Venom, People Allergy, and Bug by KairikiBear are great songs with influences from rock and pop songs, with the last two songs being more on the sad side. Bug was one of Nightcord at 25:00’s commissioned songs.
-Roki, Shojou Rei, and Peaky Peaky by MikitoP are songs made by a classic vocaloid artist who puts his voice into his songs on occasion. Roki and Peaky Peaky (the second of which was commissioned for Project Sekai’s 1st cover group, Leo/Need) are two upbeat funky songs that always manage to cheer me up and Shojou Rei is a sad song that many people have a strong connection to weither they can relate to the song or not and the More More Jump cover of the song is extremely good and extremely popular among vocaloid fans who play Project Sekai
-King and Identity by Kanaria are songs popularized by Projects Sekai even though only Identity was commissioned by Sega for a Cup Noodle collaboration. Kanaria utilized GUMI in mist of their songs and does an amazing job at tuning her. Queen is also another song by Kanaria that I highly recommend.
-Charles, Rain and Petra, and Nomad by Balloon. Charles was one of Balloons songs that first got him popular and Balloon does covers of his songs and, like many other vocaloid producers, sings his own songs without a voicebank or a vocaloid version. Nomad is one of Nightcord at 25:00’s songs so it is objectively sad in typical Nightcord fashion but is an amazing slow song to get you in the feels.
-MACHINE GUN POEM DOLL, The Intense Voice of Hatsune Miku, and The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku by cosMo@Bousou-P are fast paced songs that put Eminem to shame, showing off Hatsune Miku’s talent (can I say that about a robot?) as a high speed rapper
-Ghost Rule, The Vampire, Hibana -Reloaded-, and Salamander by DECO*27. Ghost Rule is a classic vocaloid song with several covers by both people and vocaloids. DECO*27 also has an interactive song competition-thing called MILGRAM where you have to vote weither a character, voiced by a real person rather than a voicebank, should be forgiven or not for their crime of murder and the music videos are created as an introspection into the characters lives before and during the crime.
-Romeo and Cinderella by Doriko. I have no explanation apart from the fact that this song is a classic and I love it so much
-Cosmospice by PinocchioP is a really silly song about magical space flavors made for Project Sekai’s Cup Noodle collaboration to represent to cheese cup noodle flavor (I didn’t mention this earlier in Kanaria and DECO*27’s entries but Identity represents the plain cup noodle flavor and salamander represents the spicy flavor)
I might suggest some more but I think I’ve put in enough suggestions for now.

Here's my very long list of good vocaloid songs with small descriptions so that you don't accidentally traumatize yourself again. I also separated this into three categories: please watch at least one of these, the classics, and other stuff I like that I think would be cool if you heard. These are also listed in approximate order of ones I would like you to listen to based off of what I like.
    Please Watch One Of These
Hated By Life Itself by Kanzaki Iori - has very uplifting ending despite depressing start (watch this one)
Cinema by Ayase - best song ever
Infinitely Grey by Three - I love this song with all my heart, the lyrics are very relatable
Honey I'm Home by Ghost - industrial catholic bugcore (it's in english)
Because You're Here by Pinocchio P - a bit sad but uplifting in a bittersweet way at the end
DSCF by Deco*27 - it's either about a breakup or an unrequited love, I could never tell
I Want To Be Your Heart by Yurycanon - lesbians
Salamander by Deco*27 - it might sound vaguely sexual, but I promise you it's about noodle cups
Identity by Kanaria - Also about noodle cups, song absolutely slaps
    The Classics
Six Trillion Years And Overnight Story by Kemu - Lyrics are a bit sad but really good, another classic
Daughter of Evil followed by Servant of Evil by Mothy - French revolution vibes
(if you want, you can watch Regret Message by the same person after)
Lost One's Weeping by Neru - student tired of school for sucking out personality
Kagero Days by Jin - groundhogs day but with death (there's a whole song playlist of lore that goes with this. it even got an entire anime and manga adaptation)
Ghost Rule by Deco*27 - About a failing relationship I think?
World is Mine by Ryo - another classic, but a bit happier than the above one
The End of Hatsune Miku by cosMo@Bousou-P - parts of it are very fast and song deals with Miku's mortality, another classic
    Other Stuff I Like
Two Faced Lovers by Wowaka - another Wowaka song to feed you
Magical Doctor by Maretu - needs a better epilepsy warning
All Phone Zombies Lead to Rome by Manbo-p - nice inspiring ending (I'm putting this here because I saw another youtube comment saying it and I wholeheartedly believe that you should listen to it)
Yobanashi Deceive by Jin - character is tired of putting on a mask (The song artist has a whole song playlist of lore for a story, which includes this)
Ayano's theory of Happiness by Jin - same story lore, about a girl who loves her family and has a sad ending
Additional Memory by Jin - Also about Ayano, but feels more intense and regretful
Outer Science by Jin - same story, but you can tell that this is the villain of the story (Note: if you click on the one where there is words for half of it, that was the remix for the anime. yes, this thing got an anime)
Happy Synthesizer by EasyPop - like title suggests, very happy
Copycat by Circus P - identity issues the song (also in english)
Dreamin Chuchu by Emon(tes) - idk exactly but it's cute
Shoujo Rei by Mikito P - mourning over a friend who committed suicide by train (it actually sounds surprisingly chill)
Ifuudoudou (aka Pomp and Circumstance) by Umetora - very sexual
Traffic Jam by Nilfruits - DEUCE DEUCE DEUCE
Meltdown by Iroha (Sasaki) - kinda sewersidal, but in a fun style
Villain by Teniwoha - dope trans song
Luka Luka Night Fever by Sam (Samfree) - uses a different vocaloid than miku (Megurine Luka)
    Matryoshka by Hachi - 524
Loser Girl by Kairiki Bear - suicidal, but the Maretu remix absolutely slaps
Bring It On by Giga - very energetic and fun
Rain and Petra by Balloon - I have no clue what petra is but the song sounds good
King by Kanaria - YOU ARE KING
Telecaster B Boy by Three - another great trans song
    Cendrillion by Dios/Signal P - cinderella vibes
Junky Nighttown Orchestra by Three - idk it has a doctor and a giraffe
Alter Ego by Misumi - Very intense
Last Score by SekikomiGohan - very happy
Law-Evading Rock by Neru - Ending feels like you're on drugs, plus the english f word is said twice
