just to let you know Loituma didn't actually make Ievan Polkka, their version just popularised it. it was already a preexisting Finnish song with lyrics written by Eino Kettunen way back in 1928. ZUN didn't make teto territory, oxi wrote the parody lyrics for that song and the instrumental was taken from the silver forest circle's track ⑨destiny ~zutto cirno no turn~ which was a sequel of sorts to their track kero⑨destiny which was based on ZUN's track Native Faith. drop pop candy was also made by giga with him doing tuning and music and reol writing the lyrics. also the momo momone cover of nyanyanyanyanyanyanya! was made by momomomoP
I'm still salty about how my bestie plays pjsekau and not know wtf a vocaloid is😢 Edit : How tf did I get 1k likes for commenting about my personal B E E F Edit² : is no one gonna talk about how I spell pjsekai?
One of the least talked about yet coolest cases of this (at least to me) is Future's opening track on his newest album using Miku. It's legit the first thing you hear: a distorted version of some 2008 vocaloid trance song "Data 2.0".
@@ellina23Coma by Ensou in Cytus was my jam in high school, it's so good. And I found out like a decade later that Dasu did the art for the single on Spotify and she's also a really good vocaloid producer.
One thing that comes to mind is Insanity by CircusP, or Circus Monster. Those two were the first Vocaloid songs I ever heard and I had no idea they were until I got older. Anybody who grew up with Creepypasta would probably know Insanity
Seeing Drop Pop Candy made me happy because that was my second introduction to Vocaloid through the Undertale fandom! (My first exposure was Echo. Through the Gravity Falls fandom.)
OH NO the memory of that Undertale drop pop candy video has came back to haunt me, i was so close to going a decade without it. I’m now gonna have it stuck in my head for the next 10 years. TwT
for me it was echo through undertale! I followed a comic dubber that had a snippet of Echo in their intro, and they dubbed entirely undertale fan comics.
before I actually got into minor vocaloid I heard "Insanity" in those mlp gore/creepypasts speedpaints when I was like 8 and I didn't know what vocalid eas
I can't believe it was my girl Defoko who is in My Time! That's actually amazing! I like how you added added Teto Territory even though Teto is technically an utau!
Teto territory? More like.... *KERO 9 DESTINY!!!* (explanation: kero 9 destiny is actually the original version of Teto territory, the Teto one is a parody by another person that got insanely popular me thinks, search on Google for yourself)
Well I actually saw Teto in Project Diva: Mega Mix, so as far as I'm concerned, that seems like acknowledging her as part of the gang XD (and UTAUloids are some of my favorites anyway lol)
My first real intro to vocaloid was six trillion years and overnight story - for the longest time I had only heard its intro but god I was obsessed with that hook
The most known of these songs outside of vocaloid and "weeb" cultrure are probably Nyanyanyanyanya and Ievan polkka. One because Nyan Cat, the other because it's a cover of a traditional Finnish song that was first recorded in 1937 and later popularized by Loituma in late 90s before then getting popularized further due to the Miku cover
lost umbrella on that list is understandable, because one time i heard that song from my brother's room while he was watching tiktok .. the way i i FLINCHED when i heard it. (my brothers hate vocaloid lmao)
Id also like to add a few more facts: -Set it off has a collab with miku, the song is a banger honestly (Why Do I) -One of the endings for Watamote is a song produced by Utsu-P sung my miku(This Song is Shit, im not insulting, thats just the name of the so h) -Miku’s cover of levan polka appears in a Bad Bunny song (Bellacoso) -(edit) Just found out theres a song that was in ClassicaLoid (which, despite the name of the anime, has nothing to do with vocaloids) that involves the piaproloids (Koinu no Carnival)
kz of Livetune produced and wrote both openings (irony & Reunion) for Oreimo, and the original Oreimo illustrator, Kanzaki Hiro is also a VOCALOID producer under the name Hanasoumen-P. Hiro also did the design & illustrations for the VOCALOIDs Kobayashi Matcha & Masaoka Azuki. The original version of the first ending, "Imouto Please!" was a contest submission that originally used Miku for vocals too.
Lost Umbrella is more popular than lag train when you compare the spotify streams as Lost Umbrella has around 100M+ streams and Lag train has around 33M
Additional information on Kasane/ Teto Territory: No, ZUN didn't make this exactly, but ZUN made Native Faith (Suwako Moriya's theme from Touhou 10: Mountain of Faith) and Tomboyish Girl In Love/Beloved Tomboyish Girl (Cirno's theme from Touhou 6: Embodiment of Scarlet Devil) which are the original tracks that Kero 9 Destiny by Silver Forest is a cover of. Someone else then made a Teto cover of Kero 9 Destiny on Nico Nico, the site where both songs came from, and called the cover Teto Territory/Kasane Territory. TL;DR: Original songs: Native Faith and Beloved Tomboyish Girl by ZUN (creator of Touhou) Cover of Native Faith and Beloved Tomboyish Girl: Kero 9 Destiny by Silver Forest Cover of Kero 9 Destiny: Kasane Territory/ Teto Territory
I HAVE NOW LEARNED THAT VOCALOID IS CANON IN: - Sims (4 at least) - GOTG (That was one of the first I heard, actually, but I didn't know what it was at the time) - Omori - Bee and Puppycat - THE SIMPSONS HOL' UP WAIT WHAT (S30 E5 apparently) If there are any others you know of that would be super interesting to learn about!
I'd like to also mention "Miss Wanna-Die" because it became very popular on Tiktok at some point even though it was a cover version And "Daisy 2.0" which is not actually a Vocaloid song, but it's an Ashnikko song featuring Hatsune Miku and it also was popular on Tiktok
"Can't I even dream?" by Fumii also became extremely popular a couple years ago because of a "Poppy's Playtime" animation (continuing the tradition of vocaloid songs becoming famous/viral thanks to other fandoms) also unrelated but pjsk has done irreversible damage to the vocaloid community lol
great video! i wanted to add two songs that i think are very popular and a lot of people doesn't know they're vocaloid songs - Pokkan Color by Kikuo (popular fandom trend in tiktok, every fandom has at least one edit with this song, skip to 00:46 to listen the popular part) - My R by KurageP (REALLY popular animatic / animation meme / gacha meme trend, although the animatics tend to be with a cover made by Rachie)
I will now type the My R lyrics for no reason at all. Just as I was about to take my shoes off, on the rooftop there I see a girl with braided hair stood before me, Despite myself,I go and scream, 'Hey, don't do it please' Woah, wait a minute what did I just say? I couldn't care less either way! To be honest, I was somewhat pissed, this was an opportunity missed. The girl with braided hair told me her woes You've probably heard it all before. 'I really thought he might be the one, thats when he told me he was done.' For gods sake please! Are you serious? I just can't believe that for some stupid reason you got here before me. Are you upset that you can't have what you wanted? You're lucky that you haven't gotten robbed of anything! 'I'm feeling better, thank you for listening,' the girl with braided hair then dissappeared. 'Ok, today's the day,' or so I thought. Just as I had taken my shoes off, There was but a girl short as can be, Despite myself,I go and scream. The petite girl told me her woes, You're probably heard it all before. 'Everybody robs me, everyone steals, I don't fit in with anyone here.' For gods sake please are you serious I just can't believe, That for some stupid reason you got here before me! And even so, you're still loved by everyone at home There's always dinner waiting at the table you know! 'I'm hungry' said the girl as she shed a tear The girl short as can be then disappeared. And like that there was someone every day, They told me their tale, I made them turn away But even though I knew there was no way I could Let out all this pain. And for the very first time there I see, Someone with the same pains as me. Having done this time and time again, She wore a yellow cardigan. 'I just wanna stop the scars that grow, Every time that I go home. That's why I came up here instead.' That's what the girl in the cardigan said. And for the very first time, There I screamed something that I did not believe, 'Hey, don't do it please' Aa what to do,I can't stop this girl, Oh this is new! For once I think I've bitten off more than I can chew! And even so,please just go away so I can't see, Your pitiful expression is just too much for me! 'I guess today is just not my day.' She looked away from me and walked away. Alright, today's the day, I guess it's time. It's just me,myself and I. There's nobody who can get in my way here, No one who could interfere. Taking off my yellow cardigan, Watching my braids all come undone, This petite girl, short as can be, Is gonna jump now and be free. Japanese Version (this is by Google translate, don't blame me if it's wrong :3)

Teto Territory is actually a remix of a Touhou song called "Beloved Tomboyish Girl" from The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. So yeah, you technically heard a vocaloid/UTAU song AND ALSO a Touhou song. What a rabbithole, huh.
funny you say "this was the golden age" when the songs in this video range from 2009 to 2021 (vampire by deco*27) as far as i can tell lmao . vocaloid comes and goes in waves like most genres of music do tbh, im most attached to the renaissance in 2016/2017 but i recognize theres still a lot of good music made before and after this era and theres never been a true "golden age"

just wanna let you know Japan doesn't have a fair use law so anyone from Japan can claim your video and not be barred from doing so b/c of fair use. don't worry to much about it though, as most Vocaloid-P's are rather chill :3
@@EraserDino Reuploading entire songs without permission is different to using clips. A lit of Japanse producers are ok with clips unless it's old song they want to forget. Claims can be done and they still get money. It's why things like covers and vsqs are ok. People used to reupload the entire song, not a cover to add subs to it. That was not ok and so many producers spokeout about it. It's why you see things like "no uploading to other platforms" in the description.
@@MiniEmber oh yeah I 100% understand that, just the fact that most vocaloid-p’s were rather chill it allowed her to do it for a long time. Besides she also did submit translations rather than uploading an entire different video on her own channel, it’s why you can still see her name credited in some translations on original videos. Just it ended when some specific vocaloid-p tried to take her down because she did reupload if I remember correctly. Anyways my point was even if most of them are chill you do have to watch out as they still are people who can indeed not be chill.
3:02 I just discovered that Kikuo made his own version of this song!😃 10:00 Jubythonic’s English cover of this song is her most famous Vocaloid song cover.😄 Up-and-coming voice actor and singer Joshua David King also covered this song, as well as Ghost Rule by DECO*27! 3:20 (in the original Japanese, not in English) And Will Stetson covered Wozald (9:17) and HITO Mania (7:56) Also, the Helvetica Standard segments from Nichijou had the English Vocaloid Sweet Ann sing the title of these segments and she sometimes scats in the background
this list was great!! lots of good and real examples and stuff i didn't even know before! only things i would change would be adding goobye to a world by porter robinson, goodbye declaration by chinozo, baby my phone by yameii, KING by kanaria, lagtrain by inabakumori and switch dont look at me that way with pokkan color.
2:50 i haven't seen anyone else mention this, but this was originally a piece called "petite chien" by chopin. yes, chopin that old composer guy. people need to be more familiar with classical music :') also, i don't know if the one featured in guardian's of the galaxy was petite chien, or miku's cover of it, so i'll keep open to that.
The English covers of Miss Wanna Die and Hide And Seek are insanely popular tiktok audios that are originally Vocaloid songs and I'm flabbergasted that they weren't on this list
Hm... Idk. Besides the songs that appeared in other media, I feel like all of the examples listed here are only known by the fandom. I've been in it for 11 years and even I didn't know some of these.
Off topic but, So i was asking in that one video "What's the original Hatsune Miku game?" They said "project Sekai cuz its the only Hatsune Miku game duh" bro did not heard Project DIVA, Miku Flick, Thst one 1st Hatsune Miku mobile game that has shutdown few years ago, project MIRAI DX
I have heard a lot before, honestly. Additionally, "Everyone has heard a vocaloid song before, or is hearing one right now" is an intergalactic law, and saying "i've never heard a vocaloid song" is violation of said intergalactic law
I love my time but I never realized the voice was a vocal synth i just thought it was a really distorted voice aaaa i love it, also I never realized the vocal synth in love taste (idk why now hearing it it seems obvious) also oliver being used to voice a character is cool asf jbhioewfnuidf
this is more vocaloid classics rather than proof you’ve heard a vocaloid song before. like, if you showed this to an average 14yr boy who spends 5 hours on tiktok a day, he’d only recognize one quarter of these songs.
the fact i didn't know what exactly vocaloid was till i was like idk, 15 years old? but i did know them, i heard ppl call them 'vocaloids', it's been so long ago, but i think i remember i just got sick of hearing the same thing so i searched up who tf miku was and that's when i finally found out what vocaloids are...
Shout out to Insanity and Aisenma if anyone remembers those too . My introductions to Vocaloid before I knew what a Vocaloid was (although their peak popularity was probably before Vocaloid really exploded 😅)
My surprise here was finding out how many vocaloid songs I know were this well known outside of the vocaloid community lmao I don’t use social media much (I only really have RUclips), so it’s really nice seeing that vocaloid songs are popular on other platforms

Additional information on Kasane/ Teto Territory:
No, ZUN didn't make this exactly, but ZUN made Native Faith (Suwako Moriya's theme from Touhou 10: Mountain of Faith) and Tomboyish Girl In Love/Beloved Tomboyish Girl (Cirno's theme from Touhou 6: Embodiment of Scarlet Devil) which are the original tracks that Kero 9 Destiny by Silver Forest is a cover of.
Someone else then made a Teto cover of Kero 9 Destiny on Nico Nico, the site where both songs came from, and called the cover Teto Territory/Kasane Territory.
TL;DR: Original songs: Native Faith and Beloved Tomboyish Girl by ZUN (creator of Touhou)
Cover of Native Faith and Beloved Tomboyish Girl: Kero 9 Destiny by Silver Forest
Cover of Kero 9 Destiny: Kasane Territory/ Teto Territory

Just as I was about to take my shoes off, on the rooftop there I see a girl with braided hair stood before me,
Despite myself,I go and scream,
'Hey, don't do it please'
Woah, wait a minute what did I just say?
I couldn't care less either way!
To be honest, I was somewhat pissed, this was an opportunity missed.
The girl with braided hair told me her woes
You've probably heard it all before.
'I really thought he might be the one, thats when he told me he was done.'
For gods sake please!
Just as I had taken my shoes off,
There was but a girl short as can be,
Despite myself,I go and scream.
The petite girl told me her woes,
You're probably heard it all before.
'Everybody robs me, everyone steals,
I don't fit in with anyone here.'
For gods sake please are you serious I just can't believe,
That for some stupid reason you got here before me!
And even so, you're still loved by everyone at home
There's always dinner waiting at the table you know!
'I'm hungry' said the girl as she shed a tear
The girl short as can be then disappeared.
And like that there was someone every day,
They told me their tale,
I made them turn away
But even though I knew there was no way I could
Let out all this pain.
And for the very first time there I see,
Someone with the same pains as me.
Having done this time and time again,
She wore a yellow cardigan.
'I just wanna stop the scars that grow,
Every time that I go home.
That's why I came up here instead.'
That's what the girl in the cardigan said.
And for the very first time,
There I screamed something that I did not believe,
'Hey, don't do it please'
Aa what to do,I can't stop this girl,
Oh this is new!
For once I think I've bitten off more than I can chew!
And even so,please just go away so I can't see,
Your pitiful expression is just too much for me!
'I guess today is just not my day.'
She looked away from me and walked away.
Alright, today's the day, I guess it's time.
It's just me,myself and I.
There's nobody who can get in my way here,
No one who could interfere.
Taking off my yellow cardigan,
Watching my braids all come undone,
This petite girl, short as can be,
Is gonna jump now and be free.

I'm kinda surprised that you didnt include happy halloween lol
Fr
Goodbye, Dance of Corpse, and all the variety is singers made me so happy
this is more vocaloid classics rather than proof you’ve heard a vocaloid song before. like, if you showed this to an average 14yr boy who spends 5 hours on tiktok a day, he’d only recognize one quarter of these songs.
the fact i didn't know what exactly vocaloid was till i was like idk, 15 years old? but i did know them, i heard ppl call them 'vocaloids', it's been so long ago, but i think i remember i just got sick of hearing the same thing so i searched up who tf miku was and that's when i finally found out what vocaloids are...
Shout out to Insanity and Aisenma if anyone remembers those too . My introductions to Vocaloid before I knew what a Vocaloid was (although their peak popularity was probably before Vocaloid really exploded 😅)
Vocacircus really is a great producer
The way i started singing at the top of my lungs once kikuo songs came on
My surprise here was finding out how many vocaloid songs I know were this well known outside of the vocaloid community lmao
I don’t use social media much (I only really have RUclips), so it’s really nice seeing that vocaloid songs are popular on other platforms
Thanks for showing me the original songs for clips I’ve heard in passing.
The fact that the guy that produced matyoshka is the same guy that did the chainsawman op is so wild to me
The way I just cried every time kikuo song kicked in. The damage he has done to me is too much
How about "goodbye to a world" by porter Robeson??? EVERYONE heard that song in 2020 and the vocal is Avana!
Bro i DID NOT KNOW THAT PUPPY CAT WAS VOICED BY OLIVER!!!
me neither !!
i’m sobbing why is hachi the kick back guy
LMAO I'M SOBBING AS WELL
LMFAO
I knew him from My Hero Academia💀he did the second opening theme, Peace Sign (one of the best ones)
Are we happy sobbing or sad sobbing?😅
