This song saved my life. I was suicidal for more than a year. Had many regrets in my life. That last arc REALLY saved my life. This became my favorite band of all time. This song touches deepest parts of my heart and really means the world to me. It's been over a year since that time.

I have problems with both nostalgia and the future. Luckily Haken takes me to the now.
While plenty demanding and hard to grasp, their work leaves me speechless with every turn. It's pretty close to what some would call genius or divine. They deserve every bit off goodness they have coming their way!

For the longest time of my life i felt like i had to catch up to where i had to be. Always in the past trying to reach the present. And the future was a black void to me. Finally, i am there where i feel on track and able to sometimes sit back. Not sure if our feelings around this line if lyric align but i think i understand you.

    • @LukeZuniga
      @LukeZuniga 6 лет назад +3

@@LMTR14 I think you're missing the mark on that analysis. This song is about nostalgia, which is a really powerful emotional experience. Haken managed to capture that really well here.

For me this song is like a story about a guy who had suffered some severe trauma and "Crystallised" the moments of when he was happy as a child before the problem.
In the beginning of the song, he is dying without regrets:
"I have the sky under my feet
Sun up above, I am complete
Joy fills my heart in Paradise"
As his Consciousness fades away, he sees his entire life passing in his mind:
      - Childhood
      "Someone's calling me
      Echoes of a childhood memory"
      - Love and regrets because of the trauma which was a constraint on his life
"I sense your hand searching for mine (I am)
      Falling through time
I feel your love reaching across (Transcend)
      All the years we lost"
      - Trauma:
      "Passages of time
Buried in the chaos of my mind
      Chronicles of life
      Concealing a truth I can't deny"
      - Redemption before dying, 'repeating' the beginning in a version of being on Earth with his family yet instead of being a spirit on Paradise:
"Mind open wide as I awake
I sense a change within myself
Hope feeds my soul I realise
I feel the earth under my feet
Son by my side, I am complete
Pride fills my heart in Paradise"
The bell section sounds like he was going to reincarnate, but the final section give the idea that he will be gone forever:
      "The sun will shine
      The snow will thaw
      All things must pass
      Into the unknown"
And finally he goes away in peace
"Escaping the past by embracing the future"
      RIP
