This is exactly the video I was looking for. I can't believe it only just came out today! Thank you for sharing your experiences and making it easy to understand. Also I love your production quality! Cheers!
This was really helpful, thank you! I'm still pulled between Podia & MemberVault (because of the leaderboard, engagement points (EP) & gamification features), but this was super helpful with Teachable vs. Thinkific and Thinkific vs. Podia. So good!!
Awesome! Thanks for doing this video! I've been wondering about Podia and remember your Teachable vs Thinkific video, and was wondering if you'd maybe do a Thinkific vs Podia one :)
Dave thank you for the review, what are your impressions now after 2 years? Indeed sellings books, pdf, webinars, etc can be a big plus (if no extra charge except for PayPal/Stripe fees). Taxes can be a headache! (I am new to online courses, choosing between these 2 platforms) However it is hard to predict how many students my 1st course will have in 2023, it is more like a soft beta launch for a small group. I need coupons and packages so free plan would not work for me and things changed on Thinkific. Their new community feature is interesting. Intuitively I feel Podia's Shaker plan would be best in the future as I definately want to have affiliates option for some courses. However wonder if feature wise Podia would be enough. There are some things also which until you try you will not know if you like it. Perhaps I should watch one of your courses to see if Podia is ok from the student perspective. Recently watched a couple of courses on Teachable and Thinkific and some things were annoying (maybe because I watched on a phone without the apps).
In my podia ac, I have uploaded a video course. When I click on "view lessons" or preview video, the video comes up in a zoomed in, big size. I would prefer the video to be in a smaller , zoomed out, easy to view size. How do I fix the course video size on Podia so its not too big for any video uploaded? Thank you so much.
Should I need anther website builder like wix/Squarespace to be my website and embed Podia for online course and others like membership at the same time? Or I just need Podia for all in one place? Thank you so much!
Tough decision, either way. Teachable is stuck in my mix as well. I'm also down the rabbit hole with Convert Kit, too. But didn't you say Thinkific has landing pages as part of the process?
This is the perfect video for me right now - I've been helping a friend push toward putting out their first non-fiction and doing online courses and one of the outstanding questions was going to be the course platform. Since they're in the UK I suspect this answers it and I've passed it on to them :) Now they just have to finish converting their expert knowledge to a course :D
Yes, with the UK, I'd definitely not recommend Thinkific. And since, Thinkific was better than Teachable, and Podia is better than Thinkific, then Podia is probably the best answer for them.
@@Kindlepreneur I'm UK-based so this video really helps re VAT as I've been dithering between platforms for years - yes years! Also as an authorpreneur I love you point out digital downloads. You have a wonderful clear clean video presentation style...any tips how you do it(software I mean - and edit between a live face and keynote slides...?)
@@CarylWestmoreUK Yeah, I ran into that problem with shopping carts. I was using SamCart to process payments, but they didn;t' process VAT. So I had to switch to ThriveCart instead. Since then, I've been SUPERR sensitive on who hands VAT Moss tax. As for the digital downloads, awesome. I don't like having different systems or services to do different things. If I can consolidate, then I'm happy :)
@@CarylWestmoreUK As for videos, here's my equipment list: davechesson.com/video-studio-setup/ And yes, Slides are a great way to hand it, but make surer you pop back and forth between the slides and you. Keeps it more fresh and engaging :)
Thank you! Wonder if you might answer a question about social interactivity: For many kinds of learning, it helps for learners to meet & get to know each other. I saw that Podia has a sort of "cohort-based" course that might allow for that. But what about Thinkific. I've been reviewing their features, and I can't find anything about "discussion/interactivity" between students & teachers, or even "feedback mechanisms" of how teachers can give regular feedback on students' progress? (besides the very old-fashion testing/quizzing model, not so much for deeper learning models.)
Oh, so the question: How do Podia & Thinkific compare in terms of features for social interactivity between students and for giving individualized feedback from the course instructor to support the learners?
the free option for thinkific is great but if you plan to run ads to your course, facebook requires it to have a subdomain which doesn't come with the free plan : ( so i'd have to use the basic plan
Thinkific has reviews with the star rating etc. Does podia offer anything like that? I did not notice. And those reviews are really good selling vehicle.
Thank you ! I was trying to choose between Podia and Thinkific and since I'm in Europe, I know now that Thinkific isn't an option. But do we have the same problem with Teachable please ?
Hello, thank you very much for the information, it is very valuable. One question, does the free version of Thinkific discount you on every sale you make? I have seen in another video that if it does ... and it is more than 10%.
So, I want to offer courses for people who don't speak English. I've heard that users like this, from out of US, have trouble with using Teachable. What is your opinion on the usability for thinkific and Podia?
Damnit. I keep getting advised back to Podia. Shit. I guess they must be the one. I have been tortured by trying to reach them for direction but will try again since watching this video. Will try ONE more time! lol! Thanx
This is not an independent review and he is not clarifying that he is speaking in favour of Podia. He is bending and twisting and manipulating the comparison speaking to the audience on a few occasions. He thinks the audience is not seeing it. Find the Podia's own comparison with Thinkific, it is more objective and honest speaking. This video is unfair to the audience.
Excellent review Dave. I recently discovered EzyCourse - an all-in-one course creator platform, and I'm sticking on it✌🤩. Have you checked it out yet? I'd look upto your review on EzyCourse. EzyCourse has all the features as a course creator would ever need, from creating different types of courses, bundle courses with a wide range of supported lesson types, it also features communities, group and private chats. EzyCourse gives 10x revenue generation options.

Thanks man I got thinkific because of you and recently bought a course from someone using podia and I became curious!
Ah, sounds good.
Excellent review of both platforms.
As always, great content Dave.👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
Very good review. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Great video, I would like to know more about kajabi too. Everyone is talking about it these days, but I would like to know what you think about it
I haven't looked at it because of the pricing, but it is definitely a good platform.
A great overview and explanation. Thank you very much.

I have a video comparing Thinkific vs Teachable, and I liked Thinkific better (unless you're in Europe). As for CK, that's what i use for email.

what about thinkific vs learndash? can you make a video with this please????
Haven't checked Learndash out. But maybe in the future.
