I feel like it's worth mentioning that the Softball's projectiles, unlike the EPG's, carry your forward momentum with them, meaning they travel faster if you're also going fast. This can make the weapon feel very inconsistent it you're unaware of it, since you need to lead your shots differently depending on your movement speed. And even being aware of that fact, I still think it makes the weapon very awkward to hit shots consistently with.

Well it's true that good movement is hard on a controller but that applies to your opponents as well, so in a wiered way I think that granedier weapons are balanced throughout all platforms, or at least this is what think after having played both on consoles and pc
It’s not too hard if you have a custom button layout (I’ve managed to perfect one that works for me and allows me to do anything an m&k player can do in titanfall)
My personal loadout has been stim, softball, the auto pistol, thunderbolt, and the arc grenade I definitely try to keep the high ground and walls when i can And i use the softball thunderbolt and arc grenade for prime titan harassment

I saw a video of someone ballin the shit out of frontier defense with the softball, tried in FD myself and even though I have like 250+ hours in TF2 (which is alot for me since I often dont play one game for a long time instead playing longs of different games over time)and *had* a bottomless pit of hatred and dispair for anybody who used a GL (the mgl is still annoying as fuck as a titan on certain roofs tho). I get it, I understand why people use it, my eyes are.....opened and I am enlightened
I love the Softball, even on console I could do some stupid shit with it. My Softball loadout changes sometimes but my loadout is primarily (current is the first if its a list) Phaseshift Ticks Satchel, Firestar RE45, Wingman MGL, LG97 Phase Embark, Fast Regen Titan Hunter, Hover I ussually pair this loadout with Ronin but depending on the map that could change because my least favorite maps dislike my Ronin playstyle of hit and run
Softball is hella fun and its super powerful, Dont need to bother with anti-titan weapons when I have a gun that is effective against both players, and titans ,my favourite weapon by far with the epg 1 and EVA-8
Not dissing, they're just bad for flick shots, which the Softball relies on heavily in typical engagements. When trying the Softball, Soul Dude said he had a way better time with keyboard and mouse than controller.
Aim with stripe 3 from the top Aim with stripe 3 from the top That's my take on it anyways. Oh and use grav-star. For some reason your grenades won't stick to players in grav star and they'll just hang around mid air until the star runs out, it's the ultimate taunt. If you can empty an entire mag the player will still die of AOE once all the grenades fall down.

I have slide as r1 and jump as r3 so I can perform a full slide hop while still being able to turn while doing it and it makes chaining wall runs waay easier since I dont have to take my right thumb off of the stick

You do need a custom button layout to have full capability of movement tho
I mean I've have only really set crouch to hold to slide hop and mixed sensitivity and fov and a lot of trial and error
