I tried it out and he cut an important step out, after you’ve done the alternations, you must cut along the folded line BUT NOT THE ENDS THEY MUST STAY INTACT! And then it will work And can see a cut in the video before he lifts it up
He skipped the last step! You have to cut the fold open between the first 2 cuts. Every seam between the first 2 cuts you made (just on that folded side, but keep the outer 2 uncut) has to be cut or else you'll just have a long string of loops.
I've been looking for someone to mention the same thing....there's going to be a she load of people scratching their heads wondering where they've gone wrong...
There's a variation of this you can do with the plastic ring holder from a 6-pack of soda. You only cut the inner connecting pieces in a specific way that gives you one long continuous loop.
The method I came up with wasn't as good, but I would cut it into a loop going from the outside to the center after you fold the paper in 2 and start from the edge with the fold.
Same difference, because the result is identical. This is like solving a math problem in two different ways but both way still works because the answer is correct either way. Cool shape though!
I think I cut it wrong 🤔 I made a beautiful garland though 🤷♀️ 2nd try.... I did it!!! But you have to make a few more cuts to the paper to make it happen (he didn't say that part) 😉

We were the only 4/24 in the class that knew how to do that. Not to mention the only 4/120 kids in our team that knew how to do this. Me and my group were so happy when we won it not only first and the only people to get it, we beat the ‘world record’ in my teacher’s words.
I've seen people use this technique on cutting t-shirts and plastic bags to make yarn with. There's also a similar technique used for making bias tape (binding) for quilting. Except I think its done diaginally. Thank you Nancy Zieman RIP.
