Now I can hear Ben's lower octave when he sings "I'm done running towards the eyes of Tornadoes" in it's full glory. Awesome, great job on the instrumental removal! Usually when people isolate vocals themselves it gets that "Kermit the frog" sounding effect. You definitely know what you're doing!
He does seem to need a lot. For sure Ben has some Auto-Tune applied as well for the sake of recording speed, but you can tell it’s used for minor correction rather than full note shifts like on Dustin’s part
@@rOCKINxsOCKIN I do like that Dustin has been getting better in live performances to not needing autotune as much compared to studio recordings. I do like that autotune is pretty established for starset and doesn't feel like a gimmick thankfully.
Seen him live for both his acoustic and electric sets. Dustin can sing for sure. You'll always have pitch correction in studio recordings but sometimes it's a creative choice rather than a crutch.
It's definitely just the effect. I've seen Starset live 3 times when they opened for Breaking Benjamin, and he's definitely a great vocalist live. Dustin's part definitely doesn't sound anywhere near as good, but a lot of it has to do with Ben just being a more seasoned vocalist. Ben's part is definitely much better for several reasons. There's more harmonies, grittiness, texture and Ben just honestly has a better voice overall. Not to take away from Dustin at all because he is a great vocalist, they just have 2 different styles. Dustin = Clean & Uniform, Ben = Angry and Emotional.
My only problem with the original is that I can barely hear him and benjamin due to the instrumentals being too loud. I think i'll try to edit that a little bit.
You're not listening to the actual (Vocal only) mix here, this is obviously someone simply splicing the audio to remove as much of the instrumentals as they can.

This sounds like an actual stem to me. I do not think vocal extraction software was used.
I saw these 2 bands live in April. Wish this song was out then!
I really hope Dustin doesn't need that much auto tune and it's just an effect of pulling the vocals from the mix. Ben's part sounds so much better

The power on "waiting on the sky to change" is baffling
MY GOD!! I AM FLIYING
What a beautiful composition ❤️
Dustin's part could be cleaner but Ben's part is near crystal 👌 GG
Legit gave me goosebumps! Amazing!
