@@thegoodridesnow Just rode it in some slushy conditions. I thought your review was spot on. It's great as long as the snow is soft enough. Very fun. Pretty damp in choppy stuff. It carves awesome in softer snow. If it gets hard or icy the board doesn't have much front edge grip (as to be expected by the design of the nose), so not a good choice at all on a day like that. It also gets out of shape if you try to really charge on it with the nose flapping around. To be fair my charging boards are a vintage Burton Rippey and a Jones Freecarver 9000 which both fly. With the way it handles slush I'm sure it will be amazing in pow. We are getting dumped on later this week so hopefully I can put it to good use. Very solid addition to the quiver for the right conditions.
Love the Chanel and website, Very helpful. I'm with capita mega Mercury and want second board for little bit more float, but also hold the groomers well for carving on ice. Im 5'8, 150 lbs , 9.5 boots. Which board you recommend? Service dog 2025 153 or bataleon camel two 2024 153. Tnx
Thanks! Definitely not the Camel Two if you want to ride hard to icy snow. That board has very limited edge hold but it's great in pow once you get used to the TBT after a few days of riding. Service dog will have a similar feel to what you are used to and it's better in hard snow but still not ideal. Maybe check the YES PYL Uninc, Cardiff Powgoda or Jones Mind Expander or the Lib Tech Orca if you want more grip. If you want to get into it more, hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/
Would this give you better experience for navigating tight tree runs and powder float than the new 24 Rome Stalefish? Size is 148 for Service Dog vs 151 for Stale Fish
I think the 153 would be a good fit but you can ride the 157 too. If you see lots of deep pow go 157. If you see a mix of groomers and pow and like control over speed go 153.
I'm looking to pick-up a carving/cruiser, low-angle pow board that won't take my lunch money if I want to take it easy and mellow out my riding. I'm torn between the Service Dog 157 and the Powgoda 158. I'm 5'11, 195lbs, 9.5 boots. I figure they both fit the bill and I can't really go wrong, but was curious if you had any insights that would take you one way or another.
The price and float of the Service Dog is great but at almost your specs I would choose the Powgoda 158 or even 162 just because of the faster base and quicker turn initiation. 158 is a great board for not only pow and groomers but the 162 would be better for low angle really deep pow and you will have no problem turning it. If you plan to ride it on groomers it will feel a little bigger/slower but it still could be managable.
Much appreciate the response, James, I hadn't initially considered the 162, but I could totally see it being a float machine. Will need to think on it, but I'm definitely going Powgoda now. Thanks again!
sorry didn't see this. So the Mellow 160 is best for 12+ boots. They market this board as a wide. At 10.5 you might have a tough timer turning this even though it works well for your weight. The 155 would be better even though you are way over the recommended weight. The Service dog 157 will be easier to turn for you but it isn't ideal for your weight. Neither seem like a good fit. Hit me up here if you want to get into it more. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/
Hard to say knowing so little about you. You might like the 150 Orca and 153 Service Dog better. Both float well in pow. If you like a camber dominant feel go Service Dog. If you want more grip and like rocker between the feet go Orca. Hit me here if you want to give me more info to get massively better in depth advice shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/
My son just ordered the last year’s model 148 for like $300! He a strong intermediate rider with size 8 boots and he’s about 110lbs. Any binding recommendations? Rome crux too soft?
That's a lot of board despite it's short length for his specs. Crux can work as it's more responsive than you would think for the price point but if you can step it up to the Vice that would be better. two fun boards but I need at least your boot size and height. If you want to do it right answer the rest of the questions I need to properly help here. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/
Depends on the rider asking. Dog is super cheap, wider and floatier. SK isn't bad in pow though and is more neutral so it works with any kind of way to weight your turns where the Dog is more for back foot weighted turns with the lifted sides near the front foot.
Nice I just picked one up for 300 just to use as a pow board. There is always a day I wish I had a pow board every year and now I do.
Well done! It's really fun on groomers too.

I want this to be my board for 2024-2025
I just copped this thing for 200 bucks and I HOPE the snowfall will comply 😅
Hey, nice review! One question I have is about the flex, is it softer than the stale fish? If yes, is it by much? Thanks !
The Flex of both was somewhat comparable but I would say the Stale Fish was a little more stiff and had more dynamic pop.
@@thegoodridesnow thanks :)

New Stale Fish.
Recommended size? I’m 150 but 6’1 so I’m lengthy with a size 10.5-11 boot. Can’t decide between 53 or 57

Hi! Thank you for review! What would you prefer for powder and forest? This or Nidecker Mellow?
Both will be pretty similar but come in different sizes. Just depends on the size you choose vs your boot size, weight n height.
@@thegoodridesnow Thank you! I am big boy)) Weight is 220-240 lb, and boots size is 10.5 us. Now I think about Mellow 160
