Melle Mel has been doing this for years now. Other than 2Pac he pretty much hates EVERY rapper that came after him. He called Jay Z a rich white businessman on a reality show. He said Biggie isn't great because he had a lisp. At this point he's basically sitting on EVERY rapper because he came from an Era where rappers didn't make money like that and now he sees rappers making money off rap to feed their family so he feels slighted in some way. It's really sad. That's why I don't take too much stock in these platforms where they have these guys say outrageous things just for clicks and views.

I thought the whole point of our legends was to inspire, pass the torch and want the future artists to become even greater? The generations afterwards most definitely should show respect to them. Jay among others with real talent, have done that exact thing. Became better lyricists and have longevity. That should be the goal. Doesn't take away that groundwork our legends laid out for them. We have great legends such as Mell. Just as we have generations of some who are better. Thats how it suppose to go. He's looking foolish and bitter. Not realizing that now matter how successful others became after you, you opened the door for them. You are the architect.

Melly Mel could have been the king of features and ate forever but his ego kept him from being relevant, nobody wants to work with someone that openly hates them for existing. I think Macklemore had no idea that Mel was this way that's why he worked with him.

Melle Mel always been a bitter hater & he hates everything that came after him. He even hated 2pac, Biggie, Wu Tang, Bone thugs in the 90s as well. I acknowledge he's a legend but he gotta accept that hiphop has evolved & is getting larger & he's still stuck in the 80s. Look at other legends like Rakim, Big Daddy Kane n them, they always give respect to the rappers after their time & give respect where it's due. Melle Mel needs to understand that hiphop is not gonna remain one way & accept it & he's one of the main reasons why there's all this Old vs New in hiphop going on today

Melle Mel is dissing out Eminem just because he's white. Its like saying that Pacquiao can't be Pound for Pound because he is not American. Atleast Pacquaio can go toe to toe with the younger ones. If Melle Mel want to prove his point he should release an Album right now that can go toe to toe with the new generation of Rappers. The difference between Melle Mel and Pacquiao is Pacquiao can talk the talk and walk the walk while Melle Mel haven't drop any album prior to his prime even Jayz and Dr. Dre can still drop significant album today if they want to but no they just want to support all the great new artist for the Culture of Hip Hop.

I hate these greatest of all time debates because they're all pointless, it's all conjecture and it's all moot. It's impossible to compare different eras of anything whether it's hip hop or ball. When The Message dropped, the world was 2 years removed from Sugar Hill Gang being the face of hip hop. I'll let that sink in for a second......OK, now on top of that, this was also before the crack epidemic hit its worst levels in NYC. My point being, the fact that Mel wants to hate on JayZ for literally doing what Mel taught him to do is absolutely ridiculous. The idea that it's only great if it changes the landscape is also ridiculous. That's like Chuck Berry saying any guitar riff written after him was dog shit because it didn't change the world like he did. Yeah, you were a pioneer, obviously the first are gonna have the biggest impact but you can't get mad that people you inspired grew up and did the same exact thing with their little twist on it. Even though at the end of the day it is again all conjecture, there has to come a point where an opinion is agreed upon by a large enough majority that it becomes a fact. To sit there and deny the greatness of a lot of these Rappers is just being a contrarian for the sake of being one.

There are more hoods, ghettos , streets clubs all over the world! Hip Hop is bigger than N.Y its bigger than the U.S, honestly do Americans really believe they are the inly consumers of hip hop? Most ignore Ems impact but hes #1 in Africa even when he hasnt dropped anything in a while. Mocking Bird is 3rd on the most streamed singles in 2023 and against songs from 2023 whats that tell you. Back to Wayne and Kendrick and Hov. They and Em are huge in Canada and sell out arenas constantly. Kendrick is played in the club in the ride in the hood here, fok they play Kendrick and Em and weezy and Jay in bars that play country music FFS. A country music club here called the rodeo has had line dances to Em and Hov. Imagine line dancing to big pimpin or whatever the name of jays track is cause ive seen it with my own eyes no cap. @@challzbrown Yes. I'm talking about young people. Under the age of 30, they are not really listening to him. Us older ones do because we see the progression of hip hop through him. These young kids, from what I can see, don't bump him in their cars. For example, Moneybag Yo was in DC this past Friday and there were a lot of young ladies down at the arena to see him. I personally Ubered three young ladies from the hood in SE, to the arena that night. I like Kendrick but his music is a work of art, whereas Moneybag Yo's music is a vibe, they can relate to. Name 1 Rapper in the last 30 yrs that has been played more in EVERY sports stadium across the Country (Songs = Hail Mary, California Love). Name 1 Rapper in the last 30 yrs that has College Courses dedicated to his work and Poetry. (I'll wait Fam). Name 1 with all of these accolades! In addition, when Tupac was alive, he gave numerous speeches all across the country in support of Black and underprivileged communities. Not even the Hip-Hop Community's beloved Jay-Z can be held to ALL of these accolades! And... Lets be real... Mel is not short of ANYONE offering him some sort of support. Eminem doesn't get hate because he's white. He gets privileges because he's white. For example, dude had entire MTV show campaign, just for him. This is after his second album came out. What other rapper, who is BETTER than Eminem would get that? Eminem has been SET UP to get Grammy awards and others over emcees who are BETTER than him. Look at Redman, who Em gets HIS style from. He don't get all this industry love that Em gets. Point is? Em gets things BECAUSE HE IS WHITE and you younger people don't know this so when you come of age and hear Eminem, you think all these great things about him when he gets PRIVILEGES for YOU to see him but other rappers who are BETTER don't get that same love. Then you say Eminem gets HATE? Truth be told if he were NOT white, he wouldn't get all that. Ask Jimmy Iovine, who pays for Em to get all the stuff he gets. Melle Mel is RIGHT. Y'all just mad he said it, and he's NOT jumping on the Em bandwagon like other rappers, who either worked with Em or are friends with Em. 50, Crooked I, Joe Budden ALL work with him, smh. That just CANNOT be ignored and MUST be called out. Elvis got it along with other white artists so we are NOT going to dismiss this for Eminem as people TRY to do. Come with a better question or don't come in with a comment at all.

@@lol123ukidding He does have skills. I like some of his music but the opportunities he got are like NO OTHER rapper in history and I believe had that song came out with him using the n word, calling black women bitches, we wouldn't be talking about Em today. Just look at Vanilla Ice. He was checked and stopped. Never heard from again. Em success, to a degree was STAGED, there is no denying that. That's why people argue for him now because what they thought was just Em being a rapper, was actually him being paraded around, so in people's minds they THINK about NOONE else but him. It was designed to be that way. Look at Macklemore, lil pump, the other white guy I can't think of now. See? They didn't get what Em got because of Jimmy Iovine, who set up Em's career. Look him up then you will understand. I had an Asian kid in my car, as an Uber driver. His headphones were blasting Eminem. I asked had he heard of other rappers and he said no. See? He acted as if Em was the ONLY GUY rapping like he does, when there is Treach, Redman, Biggie etc. who all pre-date Em. THOSE are the kids saying he's the best with no real hip hop history at all. That's the problem because one of them grows up, works for some magazine and spews nonsense in it that REAL hip hoppers have to constantly correct and set straight. Mel, to me, represents that.

I believe Melle Mel deserves to speak his peace. Lil Richard was the architect of rock & roll and he was "bitter" because he did not get his justice, was he right or wrong? Like Melle Mel he went through some different times in the music industry. (Melle Mel also did Beat Street) Back in the day, the furious 5 was New York City's # rap/hip hop group so they were known more for their shows than their records and that is why you do not hear them in all the songs. You talk like you supposed to know that. You may not hear every instrument in the band but that does not mean they don't deserve the award. I do not understand how any rapper of today is comparable to him and it is shocking that he, Caz (& Big Daddy Kane) can still rap at their level and skill set and could outlast all your favorites. I know you disagree and that is fine but this is a discussion that should never been had anyway. I'm sick of "top lists" and such. You never hear any other genre make these ludicrous "top 50 country music artist" Top 50 blue grass group, top 50 heavy metal, top 50 folk artists and other B.S.

I've noticed this. It's people UNDER 30 who are upset with Mel. These younglings simply don't know history so they go off of their EMOTIONS they have for rappers he calls into question. Older people are not disagreeing with him. They are glad he said what he said because it's in everybody's mind. He finally put it out there and I can't disagree with some of what he said. He is actually right but what he says is never talked about because people don't want to speak on it. They want things to continue on without it being checked. That too was not happening back in the day. That's why Vanilla Ice got backlash because people checked him. Eminem got checked for being a racist but Jimmy Iovine was able to shift that. See? If it weren't for him, black people would've dismissed Em over 15 years ago but these younglings DON'T KNOW THAT, smh. If they did REAL RESEARCH, they would see that Em's success, to a degree, was STAGED and SET UP for him to be successful in front of you, without questions about him. Then years later Mel goes viral speaking truth about him and it SHOCKS your emotions that you have been stuck with for years. Em's image comes into question and now you see Mel as a hater because he spoke truth about a guy who you DON'T QUESTION. Hip hop CHECKS their own so Em is no different. These younglings have NO QUESTIONS for Em, so he lives rent-free in your head. That's exactly what Jimmy Iovine wanted. He PAID for Em to live in y'all heads, rent free without question, when he probably wouldn't like YOU because he was a bigot back in the day. Calling a black girl HE LIKED a nigger and bitch because she didn't like him. Y'all don't know this though because you are BLIND and are VICTIMS of propaganda, PAID FOR by his handlers.
