  • This is the entire surviving footage of the legendary parade on Moscow's Red Square devoted to the 24th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. When this parade took place, the Battle of Moscow was raging, the Nazi invaders were so close to Moscow they could see the red stars of the Kremlin towers in their binoculars. The Soviet Union held this parade in a defiant show of normalcy in the face of annihilation. The soldiers who marched past Red Square here were sent off to battle immediately afterwards. Most of them perished in combat. For Stalin's speech in English subtitles, please see my other video here: • Stalin Speech 1941 Red...

When you realized, as German Troops were at the gates of Moscow at that point, the participant of the parade were marching straight into the frontline.
So basically, that parade was not only a commemoration parade, it was a "farewell" parade
And from the participants of the parade in 1941, only few (if not none of it) would come back at 1945 victory parade

To get the oil from the Caucasus wells.
To bring the best troops from the East back to the West to fight against the Allied.
Germans arrived at Khimki (some km out of the Moscow outskirts), where today there is a monumental anti tank Czech hedgehog to commemorate that fact.

So if you saying that they made it because of the help from US, but not because of their soldiers and citizens, and more than 10 000 000 soviet casualties... Don't kid yourself.

    • @Rb39-ej5hh
      @Rb39-ej5hh 6 лет назад +74

Kpoole25 Are you suggesting they had an other option if they were not forced. Firstly their country was under attack (this is unlike an offensive war). Therefore if they were good people, they should have gone to fight the invader and I'm proud they did. Secondly, even if they were egocentrics who only cared about themselves, they would have been killed under Hitlers rule because Hitler planned to genocide the slavs (including the Russians) in order to make space for German colonists. So not fighting was a road to certain death too, unless the person could somehow make it to Siberia with much faster German tanks chasing them til the Urals. Even then, that kind of person is terrible.

    BT-7 11:20
    T-34 11:37
    KV-1 12:05
BT-5 14:29 (maybe also with some BT-7s at 13:25 before as I think I can see some in the background)
Not tanks but at 9:32 are also some GAZ AA trucks.

I guess Stalin wasn't kidding, when he said: "We have no shortage of hardware now."
(Not to mention reserve units in Siberia.)
The Eastern Front wasn't even a contest.

Interesting fact: Stalin's speech was recorded a second time because the recording crew was late. Stalin spoke (few times) alone at the honorary tribune which was imitation (model). Then video was edited. I even seen some footage of recording rehearsals.

Love that march... "Lenin's Call", the Internationale as a theme... wonderful. That parade wa such a glorious moment.
The last part seems to be from some movie... those BT tanks look rather disproportionate.
Edit: found the march in the mechanized part of the original parade: "Concert March" by Vladislav Blazhevich ruclips.net/video/0Z1Mxk0nfro/видео.html

I know it's a propaganda film and the live sound recording for the band that day would sound pretty terrible, but I am looking for the actually marches played during that parade. In the "Farewell of Slavianka" page it was claimed that it was one of the four marches played that day. What were the other 3?
