In this clip, Young Dro opened up about smoking weed for the first time at 12 years old and having a junkie tell him that was a gateway to harder drugs which he eventually began taking when he got older. While discussing his past addiction, Young Dro said it was like him and his friends were enjoying killing themselves.
Young Dro also talked about going to school with Chris Smith of Kriss Kross and how that inspired him to pursue a career in music.

Sobriety is a beautiful thing. I've walked through the fire of addiction for 23 years and I'm so thankful I'm still here making the best of it. I had a massive stroke from using needles. I blood clot almost took me out. Now I'm partially paralyzed I can really use my right arm. I took me 6 months to talk and took me 4 months to walk again. Really appreciate all good time we have. We don't know when it will be our last days here. If anyone is struggling with addiction, please get help. It's all love

Keeps you in line my friend. Look back just don't jump in. I gave up blow pills and booze 32 years ago and don't regret it for a minute. Its not that hard man. Weed is not a gateway drug. Growing up in Jamaica, I know so many people who smoke weed everyday and they didn't turn to any other drugs.

Here's something to think about for those think weed is a gateway drug: Maybe those people who tried weed and went on to try other drugs were already inclined to try other drugs anyway. Another thing, weed is usually not the first "drug" people try. It is usually alcohol and/or tobacco. Are these then gateway drugs?

Dro has to be the most descriptive rapper ever in Atlanta. There’s no one who could put details in bars like him from the city. Andre probably got better metaphors but Dro’s detail is unique to hip hop

I started drinking and occasionally smoking at about 12 or 13 but I grew up in the 80's and 90's. By then I already sold some dope and got some head from a grown woman. Crazy part is I was in gifted classes and played sports but had bad role models and eventually I got caught up for a few. I fought to get my life back and graduated with a B average and went to the military.
I'm just blessed to be here now. Most of these kids nowadays are choosing this life while growing up in great situations. People like me dreamed of a normal life until I could create it for myself and make it a reality.
It's crazy how suburban kids want the hood life and hood kids want the good life lol
