100% it’s sad I have to go to two concerts now to see each brother perform, but they still AMAZING live, even separately. Labour of Love 1 and 2 still my go to in the summer.
UB 40 One of the best British groups with a Jamaican flavour. I loved to see the diversity of them growing up in London, they really made Reggae even more popular among the messes. Try One In Ten, my favorite by them.
I saw these live when they first come out they were great they did a lot of covers obviously in a reggae style they come from Birmingham in U K big in the 80s takes me back to my youth stay safe 😷✌
Bots love vodka not wine! Everyone knows that! With the exception of Bender from Futurama. He loves beer because he’s Mexican but will drink anything because he’s Mexican.
I was just a wee lass when this was toping the charts, I used to croon to this. UB40 is the UK's version of our US unemployment, the band took theirs and bought a steel drum and never looked back
A GREAT cover of an old James Taylor song. (wrong: it was Neil Diamond) A perfect example of a cover leaving the original in the dust. ** Joel Hurst ** corrected me in the comments! Thank you Joel for keeping the story straight!
Are you sure James Taylor sang this? Neil Diamond wrote and recorded it in '67 or '68. I'm not aware of any James Taylor version, but would love to hear it if it exists.
When I first became interested in UB40 (1988) I thought for sure that they were probably from Jamaica or some other Carribean Island and were Black; an innocent enough stereotype for me because I definitely knew a little about Bob Marley and this UB40 lead singer sounded like he had one of those island accents. They re-released this song in 1988 unbeknownst to me. It originally was released in 1983. I went many years without knowing when it was recorded. As far as learning about their nationality orgins that didn't didn't take long. The first time I saw a video of them performing one of their hit songs was also in 1988. My favorite song by them is Falling In Love With You (1993).
Loved the reaction pal this was out in 1983 we use to drink cider and smoke white widow to this and many other UB40 songs as the have lots or bob marley , jimmy cliff madness , the specials , the jam , the police , the smiths , the clash and so many more. Great days now i am old married with kids thanks for the flashback. By the way the black guy in the video is called astro and the album version has himself doing some ragga at the end of this track which makes it much better than the radio version. Slainte from ireland.
Starting the day off with you & Too Much Heaven. Here are winding it down with Red, Red Wine. You are correct sir, love is a trip & we took a musical journey today. Sending love from Oregon 🌲🌊❤
Looks like Patreon has all the reaction video people playing "follow the leader". Is anyone else reminded of the way corporations took over all the good independent radio stations in the late 1970s, early 1980s?
When I was a bartender, waited on these guys after their show. They came in to see our house jazz band, which was excellent. They didn't drink but really smelled like serious weed! Lololololol! Love this song.
Great cover, great song!! They got their name from the UK unemployment form; Unemployment Benefits form#40. They had a couple great tunes for the bars in the 90s!! Thank you Mr. Video🙏
UB40 super famous around the world my dude.. 80's Reggae Band from the UK. Still going strong 2020. Me and the wife regularly try and see these dudes in concert. Labor or Love 1 & 2... Two records you can't go wrong with. ** Ever find yourself surrounded by a Mob of Tongans/Samoans... Start playing UB40 --- you family then!
Seen them a few months back after my team Birmingham played a football match. Their massive Birmingham fans and have just released a new song that weve adopted. Have a watch ub40 at St Andrew's
Yay! UB40. Their name stands for the document people in England in the 1980s had to fill in for Unemployment Benefit--the UB40. They were a bunch of about 8(?) unemployed guys from Birmingham in the Midlands of England. There were so many cool bands from that time, like Madness, Selecta, Joy Division, The Specials, The Cure, Ultravox, The Police, The Jam, Yazoo, Bronski Beat, Fine Young Cannibals so many...please try them❤ Gary Numan, too
They were/are my fathers favourite band and he seen them many times over the years here in Scotland. He offered me to come with him to one, I declined and later found out that it was the last gig they done in Scotland together before they broke up. Big mistake on my behalf. You should listen to a few other of theirs, whether it be covers or originals. Great channel!
This song has deep content, which indicates that love and heartbreak are like a poison that intoxicates you and eats you inside and that only another "poison can cure you" This is the red red wine, which does not deceive me, it does not abandon me, it confuses my mind and lightens the pain of feeling a lack of love, and that is why wine is as valuable as a million dollars in my hands, wine does not abandon me, love does. Replace an obsessively loved object with another that generates dependency; in the end, both consume you if they end up being toxic. You can choose one evil over another, or both together if you can...
I think you would definitely have had a good time back in 1980 ish, we in the UK were enjoying the pleasure of reggae ( Gregory Isaacs, Denis Brown, Uncle Bob Marley, the great John Holt, so UB40 were definitely right place right time. @@CazzieHooper I was born in London!
UB40 did a lot of covers. I think my favorite is “Many Rivers to Cross.”
All 3 of their labor of love albums were covers of songs that inspired them
The original artist for Many Rivers to Cross was Jimmy Cliff. UB40 re-did it.
And this one is by Neil diamond lol
Oh, me too.
@@susiemuirhead561 they didn’t “re-did it” ... they ReMASTERED it! Big Difference! UB40 are living Legends!

You did the short version. The regular one has a rap portion.
Adam McKee It was called “Toasting”, not rapping. 😉
Thank god that wasn’t in it lol that ruins the whole song
I was wondering where the rap part went.
I was wondering where it was.

Edit: UB40 was a form used to sign on the 'dole'..unemployment in the UK.
IB51, and could sure go for some red, red wine, or beer, or bourbon... Or, moonshine. I'm not too picky, as long as the ABV is significant.😁
Before this commersial stuff they were actually more edgy and political. "ONE IN TEN" is a good example of the good older stuff
