I can not begin to thank you all enough for having this discussion, public ally. I am a mother who loves her son, who is gay. There has been so many times of wanting to write a book and share our experience of how to love our children, regardless what path they chose for their lives. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You all are saving so many lives and I pray everyone who watches this video know they are loved, very loved by their Heavenly Father, our Savior Jesus Christ and many within and outside the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints too. We are here for you. Do not give up. 💖 Rather than defend the gospel of Jesus Christ, I think along the line of…sharing the love of Christ with everyone while I’m trying to learn and live a Christ centered life. I’m such an imperfect human being, aren’t we all? And aren’t we all deserving to know the love of God and our Savior, regardless how we look, what path we chose, or what happened to us? 💕

For me, orientation is not as important as how people conduct their lives. Are they kind, are they gentle, are they honest. Any person can have these qualities and we are God's children, siblings together to share our love and lives with each other. Who has the time or the need to be less than loving to our LGBTQ siblings?

Loved… especially the reminder that connection is a two way street where there needs to be understanding and acceptance on both sides. We can all do better.♥️

I realized something listening to this show., For me and many other straight people, staying true to our covenant of chastity is a breeze. Much more difficult, often leading us to excusing ourselves with rationalization are: bearing one another’s burdens that they may be light, mourning With those that mourn, comforting those who stand in need of comfort, standing as a witness at all, times, and in all things, and in all places that we may be in, taking upon ourselves the name of Christ, always remembering Him, keeping his commandments that he has given us,, obeying the law of obedience, obeying the law of sacrifice, obeying the law of the Gospel, and consecrating everything in our lives to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Today I humbly become an ally! We are all in this together., Thank you.

I am gay, have been out since I was 12 years old, married a wonderful man and I am a widower - my husband was every bit as valuable a relationship as my parents marriage was. I am a Buddhist teacher who goes to an LDS church. I know the church will change in time and so we have to just keep on conversing. Changing how we think through what "beliefs" are - they aren't learned conditioned responses and are only possible when we have put aside our indoctrination and propagandized thinking and think critically and independently - this is my message to LDS members. I go to two wards on Sundays and teach Buddhism as my life's work.

I am a gay man, I am a Buddhist teacher and live by the five precepts of Buddhism. I go to an LDS church but the "proclamation of marriage" is so obnoxious that it is hard for me to want to be a member of the church. Still, I enjoy going to the two wards I go to every Sunday. I have never ever felt any shame about being gay - I have been out since I was 12 years old. I have never felt bad about it and it is not o.k. for anyone to say our relationships are less than straight people's relationships. No way no how! (: I was married and am a widower and hope to marry again in the future.

What an awesome show today ❣️When we consider that the essence of Jesus Christ is LOVE. It helped me to understand that we really do need to show more love towards anyone of our brothers or sisters,
Regardless of the circumstances they have been given Stewardship over. Love conquers ALL.❤

I think as members, this discussion and openly gay members of the Church is so new to us. I'm 62. I remember when this was called a "perversion" from the pulpit of general conference. So, this is new to all of us. I hope the LBTQ+ community will be patient with us sincerely striving to navigate this.
The last part I loved though. There is more to covenants than the law of chastity and I'm sure in today's world, many in the church struggle with it who are "straight". So it probably is unfair to "go there" when we are talking about this. As with any member of the church that conversation is between them and their priesthood leaders. I'm glad Charlie mentioned that. That's not my concern. Thankfully Christ is the final judge. Not you or me. Let's just welcome everyone and let our ecclesiastical leaders (with guidance from the spirit) and Jesus Christ shake it out. I trust the Savior.

The "proclamation of marriage" must be changed to include gay people. We need to start understanding that "belief" is NOT learned conditioned responses (our conditioning through indoctrination and propaganda); Belief is only possible when our conditioning is put aside and we do independent thinking and study and use critical thinking skills.
I am a widower; my husband was every bit as valuable to me as my parents were to each other. The problem with "defending beliefs" is that they aren't actually beliefs 99% of the time.

This was a beautiful raw discussion. I loved how there were different point of views, yet everyone believes and worships the same. This is a beautiful and necessary thing for The Church if we want to be a part of its growth. Well done. Well said. 🫱🏿‍🫲🏻
I will always come back to this video. Thanks for strengthening my testimony. The Church is true!

I'll admit that I struggled listening to this (hard to understand how these two worlds which seem opposite can coincide). Great eye opener to the lives of LGBQT members.

    • @holdruss6197

They can't coincide unless the church changes doctrine which seems obvious will eventually happen.

    • @chickadeedownfarm2024

That is called "faith in change" as opposed to "faith in Jesus Christ". The doctrine on the family will never change.

Personally, I have made many mistakes in dealing with LGBTQ issues. I could have respected peoples right to make choices for their own lives a lot better. I also think the church could teach the law of chastity more sensitively. But I did find this podcast confusing.
Life changes. I think you acknowledged that. I think a current “I feel you”, “teach me”, and perhaps in general, hyper-empathetic approach to LGBTQ issues in the church also pushes the LGBTQ members into a corner and hinders them from being open to all that may come to them in their life. I don’t believe examining every aspect of life under a microscope improves life. Sometimes I think the age old council of forget yourself and go out and serve is the best solution to to whatever comes ones way-even if you feel like you are LGBTQ. I know that is not a currently popular idea. I think having commandments helps us forget focusing on ourselves and helps us to move forward. I’ve never married or had what science would call a healthy sex life. I think my life is worth living, and I think embracing commandments made it easier to keep my life worth living.
I do not know the majority of LGBTQ stories. I do know some stories of LGBTQ people entering into heterosexual relationships successfully. I know other LGBTQ stories where they ended a heterosexual relationship in order to persue an “authentic” same sex relationship, and in the end the heterosexual relationship ended up being the deepest most enduring relationship they had though it was not about great sex or romantic love. I know these are not all LGBTQ stories but what is the end you are pursuing?
Which question are we going to focus our lives on, “How can I be authentic?” (ultimately, what does authentic mean?) or “how can I serve.” I think the answer is keep the commandments, keep moving, and only level gaze when necessary. In the end, I think navel gazing can and does takeover too many lives in our current society. Personally, I don't want a life of navel gazing.
