Never made it past level 30 but playing today I'm really enjoying Grim Dawn and keen to get a character to endgame. This was a great recap and listen for me while playing, thanks!
Endgame gear gets pretty wild. A tip I forgot to talk about in this was factions and rep. I always recommend people just starting to make sure to do all the faction quests you can and buy writs. It helps really well with filling out resists in the end, as well as providing some nice recipes for gear.
I have pirchased the game a long time ago but was sitting at lvl 15ish after uninstalled. 2 days ago i decided to give another try and cleaned veteran already at lvl 43ish. Today I bought aom and cruci and will check them to possibly just buy fg already. I started yesterday another char too and the early game was so easier...
WTF I just started playing it because my old computer took a shit! Playing on my new beast PC thought this video was cool and had never saw it yet here is a comment from me! I gotta stop smoking weed.......
@@TempestPoet Yea I played PoE for a long time and it's Really good, definitely has longer replayability than anything else. I think Grim Dawns more streamlined approach to the game and min maxing is really good. I know it sounds wierd, but I'd almost place those two in separate categories just because of what they're both trying to accomplish. PoE is definitely AWESOME
@@ImaITman No i totally understand that approach. I kinda feel the same ;) They might be both Arpg's, but from 2 very different angles. And they both do it very well in their own perspective. Completely agree.
You forgot to mention the hybrid pets that scale of your character bonuses. Damage conversion is awesome in Grim Dawn. Eye of Reckoning from Oathkeeper does Physical/Fire and it's passive Soulfire does Physical/Lightning. One of the new Pieces of gear, Mythical Gravetouch shield, converts 100% of Fire damage to Cold to Eye of Reckoning. The 1h Legendary sword Chillheart converts 100% Physical damage to Cold to Eye of Reckoning as well as global 45% Lightning damage converted to Cold and 15% Physical converted to Cold. These 2 items allow you maximize Eye of reckoning by converting 2 different damage types to a singular third (ie Cold).
Or instead you can use cinder touch and the cyclone helmet to convert eye of reckoning into 100% just lightning like I'm doing. Archon has been pretty cool.
@@Therercher Personally I feel cold is better since the shield adds extra cold resist redux to Veil of Shadow on top of the resist redux of its passive Night's Chill.

This is one of the best videos of seen on breaking down this game for beginners, so thank you! I know this is a year later, but are you ever going to do that Class and Devotion guide? thanks
I really should, I'm not too sure about the class guide, but I should do something involving devotions. It's what really gets a lot of new players. Procrastination is certainly a massive thing I'm dealing with. :D
@@Therercher yeah I think if you did a class guide, it could be short. Like just a general overview of the damage types and proficiencies each one has. Although, maybe thatd be a lot more to cover than I'm thinking lol. But the devotions... yeah I'm mostly at a complete loss looking at this thing. It seems like I could spend forever trying to figure out a sensible approach, but there has to be some easily digestible basics I'm missing..
@@ALostMap with the class guide, it's been either too much info, or not enough info. :D as for a little tip for devotions, find one on the outside you really like and try to figure out a "path" to it. Look at the constellations that give the same color points you'd need for it.
Cheers for explanation on damage and how it works. Very useful. Always wondered how % damage stacked, was it just on base or on top of existing totals.
Err, yeah/nah common,(white), items are literally worth like 2 iron and simply not worth the effort of carrying. In fact they seem to stop dropping after a while. I do agree about some of the yellow items that have one or two awesome stats which are useful to your character. Just check as you go. Also, get in the habit of breaking furniture, as sometimes you get drops from that, lore notes, armour etc. Not all furniture is breakable, but you will get to know what is. You may need to hold the shift key to be able to break them if you are using weapon/ranged as they won't be auto targeted.
As a new player which has picked up the game + all dlc yesterday and merely played about 4 hours I have to disagree strongly on your opinion regarding crucible mode. It's a way better way of getting a new character started and yields way more xp and gear then just playing the main game and I also have to say, it is really fun too. Sure, you won't get far, on lvl 1 maybe wave 5 or 6 but if you've done it the XP and loot will easily boost you to being strong enough to make it and also clear up to wave 10 which yields way more xp and loot. After maybe 2 oder 3 clears on wave 10 you can easily make it to wave 30 to 40, depending on what exactly will spawn on you. Keep in mind, it also hdepends heavily on which class-combi you're playing though.
Finaly a good video. Not one where people explain the basics of unlocking your fucking stash and shit. All I needed was to know what to look for while playing the game. All other guides just told me about differences in gear quality and all that stupid shit, and how classes work. These things are common things in RPG's and no one needs them explained anymore. Thanks for your vid, finally made a lot of things more clear.
It depends on what masteries you pick to be honest. But in the beginning it certainly is good to stick with one specific type of damage. There's gear that helps you run multiple types as you progress in levels. In my experience fire damage seems to be really easy to lower enemy resists for. There's quite a bit of devotions that can help lower enemy fire resistances as well as a few class abilities that can.
From what I am learning, its best to have 2 types later game. One primary you stack, and another for those resistant. Right now I have a Witch Hunter (Occultist/Nightblade) focusing on Acid/Poison as primary, and Chaos as secondary. Using Handmaiden of Dreeg build.
I have a 70 Pyromancer, heavy elemental damage plus a ton of retaliation damage, I can literally sit in the middle of 20 mobs and they basically kill themselves hitting me

Yeah, I don't like being in the same area or map for extended periods of time makes me think I haven't progressed at all. And I've seen a lot of people treat crucible as if you should only use it in the past. That's what's led to my dislike for crucible, and shattered realm when it came out certainly gave me almost no real reason to touch crucible except for completing it on ultimate.
@@Therercher what is shattered realm? I am on farms now, play as arcanist, second class is soldier but no point added to soldier, arcanist is enough for me
@@jimlahey5623 Shattered realm is a mode added in forgotten gods, you access it from the first area in forgotten gods. Said first area is unlocked after you kill the warden. Basically an infinite dungeon that gets harder and harder as you go.

why do you talk so slow
Oh great, another Diablo type game. Hell No!
