A Tour of the Ten Commandments - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon

- Опубликовано: 1 мар 2024
- Friends, on this Third Sunday of Lent, the Church asks us to look at one of the great texts in the Old Testament-namely, the Ten Commandments from the book of Exodus. Lent is a time of getting back to basics spiritually, and walking through the Ten Commandments is a great way to do it. Go back to this text in Exodus, commit the Commandments to memory if you haven’t, and use them to examine your conscience.

I could listen to him every single day. He always has something important to share and his manner of sharing is always so clear and prompts reflection. Thank you, Bishop!
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I do listen to him every single day 😂
Bishop Barron is literally a gift from God to US ALL. 🤗
I do!!
How is it possibly ethical to suggest the equivalent of a notion we all travel with one foot in a stranger's fantasyland, using fictional vocabulary: prophecy, prayer, etc.? We have Moses: World's worst navigator, leading a party as if travel were best done with one foot in fantasyland.
I thank God for giving us this holy bishop who always preaches the truth of the gospel.
We are very, very fortunate to have him as one of our earthly leaders.
God gives us strength to overcome our struggles. It is a struggle to provide for my children, as a single mother my sons are special needs, and require much from me but I know God will give me the strength and courage that I need. So while I struggle to buy groceries and while I struggle to pay rent. I will keep faith and praise God ALWAYS!
God bless and love you with your children. Amen
❤❤❤ from Colombia 🙏
praying for you and your children 🙏🏽
Prayers for you and your sons❤
You oversimplify. That is to say, a great many don't go on to overcome their struggles. They're not able to. But no doubt God makes it up to them by letting them into his heaven.
Eventhough I do not follow the Catholic Religion Today, I feel Bishop Barren did a very concise sermon on the 10 Commandments.
One of the best sermons i have heard in a while. Thank you Bishop Barron. Much love from the Catholic capital of Asia, the Philippines.
Having a relationship with God in my life is such a blessing
Thank you, bishop. Reconciling with family is difficult, but I saw that with God it is possible, He heals us and shows us the healthiest boundaries for our specific situation.
Many of us have reasons to hate our parents. When I converted I understood I had to try to forgive them and all I could do was cry and grieve. But I brought to confession all my rage and negative feel and wounds, and that was enough. True healing happens at confession through the priest and the simple act of kneeling in front of the Heavenly Father. I was finally able to look at my parents as people, not parts of me, my negative inner voices and my past, but just people, with their own story and wounds, who nevertheless tried their best with me, even though it wasn't enough to save me as a kid, I still recognized their efforts. I was able make the relationship healthier because God's grace had dealt with my own unbearable pain. And God did that for me many more times in my life. He's faithful. He can do anything and He can help us not break under the evil around us.
God bless you.
Observing the Sabbath is SUCH a blessing. Set things up through the week and on Saturday so that quiet and relaxation are possible when the sun sets on Saturday. Enjoy protected time until the sun sets on Sunday. That leaves plenty of time to ponder what has to happen on Monday.
I like your phrase protected time. Today there were no altar servers or deacons at mass. This was not their protected time
But if you work at a hospital it’s very challenging I am afraid to say.
@@esthert9146 Certainly there are weighty reasons to work on Sunday-- particularly in medicine and in the military, police, etc., but when there are not such weighty reasons, do try it.
Dear@@esthert9146, saving lives is doing God's will. Do you have a spiritual director, or can you talk with your pastor? I don't think the Lord wants you to not be at peace, when you have chosen such a noble area to work in!!(I was a nursing assistant, and being there to bring a bedpan, or lunch, or to move the pillows is a form of saving a life, one act at a time.)
I worked most every weekend so it does not apply. So it's just another day in the week.
Bishop Barron is a living St. Augustine!
😂
I know, tears of joy right?
Saint Augustine is still alive brother, alive in Christ in the presence of the LORD.
I love everything you do Bishop Barron. Thanks for always making my days bright and bringing me closer to the lord.
I feel like the Lord is asking this to me these days: go back to the basics of your Faith! Become like a child! It’s not easy for my unfortunately prideful heart, but throught His Grace I’m gonna do it! God bless ❤
Love of ones' family isn't always possible - this is truly an oversimplification. When you've been neglected, damaged, and actively harmed to the point of cruelty, it's a matter of sheer survival to separate from that cauldron and, in essence, divorce yourself from that ongoing harm/damage/danger. I trust God understands the complexities and issues when one has to do that - and suffering/bearing ones' cross as a result, is painful for the arch of ones' life. Again, God understands and loves us in those situations. I am one of them.
I’m sorry about your family situation. I think you might be over simplifying what love in this case means. If you’re striving to forgive, you are loving them, even if you have to put distance between you two. If you pray for them, you are loving them, again even if at a distance.
You have to watch your heart, and see if bitterness and bad will toward the other exists, and repentance is the only solution to that.
Sometimes these wounds are so deep that it might take a lifetime to deal with them, but don’t be discouraged.
Lord help me to examine my conscience and seek forgiveness in the Sacrament of Reconciliation
"Having our relationship with God right is the condition for the possibility of anything else being right in our lives." *- Bishop Barron*
“A growing indifference to life”
Sad, sad reality
What have we become?
Hello Bishop Barron,
God has found me recently and changed my life completely as somebody who had never seen any point or good in believing. I wanted to say thank you very much for these videos, I love the way you describe different aspects of Christianity and I'm always left feeling motivated and full of love for our God. Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful day! 😄
Amazing review of our 10 Commandments Bishop Barron!
Thank you God for the gift of our one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
Thank you Bishop Barron. God bless you abundantly 🙏.
The Lord gives us Ten Commandments to develop our virtues, showing that God is so love the world and want us to be perfect as Him! ❤❤❤
We truly love You O’ Lord!
Thank you Lord for Your Goodness and Bishop Barron!
Thank you Lord for calling this supremely intelligent man to your service! I'd love a Pope like him.
Sometimes I think Bishops and Fathers can be better Popes than the Pope we have now.
Just a beautiful message. Explained well the ten commandments. Thank you Bishop.
Back in elementary days, I used to memorize the Decalogue or the Ten Commandments.
It was complied out of academics, as I'll have a guaranteed 10 points in Religion exams.
Knowing and practicing are obviously two different things.
Do we follow out of fear, or do we follow because we love God.
Or I don't follow because it seems I can get away without repercussions?
Society's a mess, or even more than I am aware of, when individuals tend to ignore or dismiss these Commandments.
This is NOT JUST "ten:. This is the MOST IMPORTANT "TEN" in our life.
Let's level up by following Jesus.
Thank you Bishop Barron for your lovely sermon. May GOD bless you abundantly. ➕️♥️

There is so much to consider in this homily about how we can experience life by honoring God and bring life to others by the way we treat them.
I can't wait for WORD ON FIRE conference. Thank you Bishop Barron! I am Methodist, but love to listen to your words. You are truly calculated in every word you speak, and I am truly impacted by it. Keep going!

Thank you for the reminder. Do everything with love 😊
Thank you for this amazing words, your eminence. Greetings from your brother in faith and son in the heird of Christ, from Brazil!
Bishop Barron should do a Word on Fire Show on the Ten Commandments.
I had to listen to it twice because this sermon is so simple and amazing for personal reflection. I gonna save it for reflection every time before I go for confession. There are so many examination of conscience out on the internet and non of them have the points that Bishop Barron speaks about. So thankyou Bishop and May God bless you and Love you and you ministry
Yes, the Most Reverend Bishop Barron is such a gifted teacher. For more of him as well as the best examens I’ve found thus far,
I will forever tout the Hallow app.
Peace be with you Bishop. Dios le bendiga.
Thank you, Bishop Robert Barron!
Thank you.
Thank you, so much!! ❤
Very clear explanation indeed...10/10! Thank you, Bishop Barron! (From Singapore 🇸🇬)
Great analogy to go to confession with the emphasis on the Ten Commandments. Thank you Bishop Barron for this sermon. May God bless you and keep you in his loving arms. 😇
Thank you, dear Bishop, for always teaching truth to us. God gave us a free will so that we could be creative and free. It seems to me, especially after carefully listening to this eye-opening sermon, that that's the direction the 10 Commandments are meant to lead us or guide us to. I thank God for so much clarity. Clarity and harmony in our relationship to our loving, living Lord Jesus and in our relationships with others, allowing His love to flow out into the world, as you said. Thank you. Greetings to all from Argentina.
When Christ Jesus fully fleshed out the Ten Commandments it was 14 generations after Moses. He added depth and in a way more complex interpretations to God's law. I would suggest that the passages where Christ explains these things in the New Testament challenge us to a still higher standard.
Thank you Bishop Barron🙏 God Bless
Another soul nourishing homily, Bishop!
May God help us to always do His will by keeping His commandments 🙏
Believers are no longer under JEWISH commandments under the Old Covenant. Are you a Jew?
Believers are under GRACE and under a NEW Covenant. Read Romans.
Thank you Bishop B. I've missed your homilies. That COVID year you carried us so well. My mother and I got used to Mass in your chapel and missed it whenever you stopped. Your lectures, I have favorites that are timeless and I remember the ones that got me interested in Catholicism again.
Remember that the 10 Commandments in the old testament are just the beginning of behavioral discipline. It is refined by Jesus and His teachings in the new testament.
Thank you for the spiritual inspiration ❤
Great sermon again !! God bless you Bischop Baron.
You are a TRUE PROPHET in our difficult times and in an western world which wrongly believes it can live happily without God.
I will use your advice next time I go to confessionn before Easter
May God bless you abundantly and keep you in good health
Greetings from Brussels,Belgium
God's Decalogue ; the guide of life and rules of judgement ☯✝
Your Excellency. One major issue that hampers us, in the West, is beauty that is confounded with Lust. It takes Christians an enormous amount of self control that is based on "Filling ourselves with Our Lord Jesus Christ's, the Word of God's" spirit and Love.
It's only by filling ourselves with Our Lord Jesus Christ's Love that we forget and see differently those who present themselves in a lustful way.
It's hard but doable.
Thank you, Bishop Barron. As always, be well. Blessings.
Amen!
I needed this soul food on this Sunday morning. Thank you bishop Barron
So apropos to what is occurring around us. Many of the infractions against the 10 Commandments would seem to stem from a lack of self respect- how can you love/respect your neighbor if you cannot love/respect yourself?
Hilo Bishop Barron, Gene here and I actually want to use this space to say thank you so very much for attending our Bishop Muhich's funeranl here in Rapid City! It was like surreal to meet you and shake your hand! We would love to see you come here for the installation of our next Bishop! It meant so very much to have you here, people were very happy you were here!
No rhetoric or theological refinement today, just the core and the heart of the biblical message. 《Only》 the ten Commendments, well interpretated...
Thanks bishop Barron for your beautiful sunday sermon I watched it on RUclips very inspiring
A prayer card for the 10 commandments would be a great idea to have in one’s wallet or the back of your cellular phone.
First, love God.
Next, love others.
This is the whole of the Law.
Gracias querido Obispo Barron , ❤️🙏🙏🙏💯
Beautiful sermon. It's true that these ten commandments help us to examine our conscience and help with the confessions. We must desire things for ourselves and not desire things belonging to others. Thank you so much for your work, Bishop Barron
Many devout Saints went to the monastery or the convent against the wishes of their biological families, even St. Thomas Aquinas. St. Francis renounced his family before the bishop declaring, “Our Father who art in heaven..”
Thank you Bishop Barron. Keep fighting the good fight!
May God bless and keep you Bishop Baron🙏❤️
The second Commandment is ''Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.''
God bless you, my dear bishop! ❤❤❤
An excellent reflection, Bishop Barron. May God bless you.
Thanks Bishop Barron's for this great reminder as well as a Great definition of each commandment. So true if we don't pay attention to the first 3 commandment the other 7 get lost.

I thank God for you, Bishop Barron. Be strong and courageous says the Lord.
Bishop Robert will teach you how Jesus Christ deepened the Ten Commandments to more intimately fulfill the love of God and neighbor, join us for this week’s Sunday sermon as we dive more intimately into God’s Law transformed into the Law of Grace.
Thank you Bishop Barron GOD BLESS .
Moses was the first person to break all the10 commandments in one day..amen
Actually there were 15 commandments , but Moses drop one of the tablets and it broke when he was coming down from mount Sinai.
I have seen many evangelical pastors violating the command mentioned in 3:30. Taking God's name in vain could also mean talking about God irresponsibly, or to take advantage of people using God's name, or even worse, making people believe something I say or want is the will of God, when in reality is not.
Thanks much and love from Texas to the good Bishop!
As usual a great sermon and so relevant to our lives
We have the Ten Commandments for the moral order. Incidentally, the nation also molds its laws, down to libel and slander, on the same concepts for civic order. But following Jesus is much more than being a good citizen, or not eating meat on Friday.
Hola queridísimo padre Robert gracias por compartir sus enseñanzas! Bendiciones desde Mérida Yucatán
god bless you
Well explained ten commandments. It is very inspiring so thank you so much
And bless you too❤🙏

Love your review of our vital abc's in spirituality. It makes living in Grace richer and so much more vibrant! ❤️ 🌼
“there is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft. When you kill a man, you steal a life... you steal his wife's right to a husband, rob his children of a ather. When you tell a lie, you steal someone's right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness... there is no act more wretched than stealing" (The Kite Runner)
Thanks, Bishop Barron. Teaching us the ten commandments so spiritual journey. God bless you
