A second half of the 80s is not really mine. The first half was amazing (especially the British New Wave). I'm waiting for more videos about 1980-84 in UK ;) 💜 great job
A nostalgic look on a rubbish day of weather thanks to Storm Eunice (luckily the building I live in is still standing but I did get blown about!). Thank you 👍 The songs I like are 'I Found Someone' (I like Cher in her 88-93 era), 'Cars and Girls', 'Kiss and Tell', 'Ideal World', 'Give Me The Reason', 'Cmon Everybody', 'Hazy Shade of Winter', 'Joe le taxi', 'Man In The Mirror', 'Never Knew Love Like This Before', 'Come Into My Life', 'Mandinka', 'Hot In The City' (joint fave with Terence and sexy), 'Sign Your Name' (sensual song and an all time fave), 'Gimme Hope Joanna', 'Shake Your Love', 'Valentine', 'Say It Again', 'Candle In The Wind', 'Get Outta My Dreams', 'Tell It To My Heart' and a great if a bit of a guilty pleasure number one 'I Should Be So Lucky'. I agree the cover of 'Oh l'amour' isn't that good. Erasure's has more fire and heart in it.
The Mission, The Cure, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Alarm... I was 18 that year and had their records (*Echo & the Bunnymen's The Door's People Are Strange was in a compilation record called Under the Covers, which, among others, also had Strawberry Switchblade singing Dolly Parton's Joline)
This countdown features so many songs I haven’t heard in years, and in many cases I don’t even remember how I know them because they weren’t Top 40 in the U.S. I’m guessing they were played on college radio back in the day. (Heaven Knows - Robert Plant, Presence of Love - The Alarm, Kiss and Tell - Bryan Ferry, Hot Hot Hot - The Cure, etc.)
3:27 Sinead O'Connor and 3:39 Terence Trent D"Arby would make a terrific duo, exquisite talents who failed to make a long career... but their debut albums were like a knock-out...
I know Sinead sadly is not in the right frame of mind due to the tragedy of her son's death (I feel for the woman), but that would have been a killer duet! Both their voices would have gelled together and I can imagine it in my head.
Well well...when Kylie Minogue still was the girl-next-door...I DO remember those days quite well...but, all in all, I found '88 stuff to be summin of a letdown compared to the two years previous...

Amazing work... keep it up❤️❤️
Thanks For Sharing!
Sehr coole Zeit ☺️
A great mixed bunch of music
The best year 👌🏽❤️
1988 was a good year in music. Hay Shade of Winter, candle in the Wind and Joe le taxi are my favorites
I didn't know "Gimme hope Jo'anna" debuted so early in 1988. I always thought that was a summer hit.
Thanks!
Another great video buddy

''Oh L'Amour''...Erasure Cover ;-)
An awful cover ;)
Erasure's song Ship of Fools was about to enter the chart at that time.
Number 3# "Tell It My Heart" by Taylor Dayne has to be my favorite from that weeks top 50
What a great year
I was 13 on this day wish I could go back
that week alone made more proper hits than the 2000s altogether
I compare this top top the other vidéo UK chart january 19 1986, so different just 2 years différence ^^
The last year we had good consistent charts week by week
Early house music
Nah early house music came out few years before that!

I read about that. Very sad. RIP
The day before Red Dwarf first aired.
Best song: The Mission!
As an American, I apologize for inflicting Tiffany on the UK!
She never had an impact in UK...Kylie Minogue ruled there

Debbie gibson esta nesta lista
Tell it to my heart should’ve gone much higher in the US that are did!
It went into the top ten there. Can't ask for much more than that.
@@shakz86 agree to disagree, it only went to 7 wen it should’ve went to number 1
