- Today I'm talking about eye drawing tutorial I found on Xiaohongshu aka the Chinese version of Pinterest! I usually draw pretty boring eyes, but this tutorial changes everything! It's very beautiful, detailed, and unique! A lot of Chinese artists draw sharp eyes with thick liners and eyelashes. I always admired the way they draw eyes, so I followed one of eye drawing tutorials I found on Xiaohongshu!

Chinese artists in general are just something else. They’re so skilled 😭
For real.
Me trying to figure what the actual fuck is a math
Random 8 years old chinese kid:"Mom, i told you to buy a new one, i already learned them"
Chineses are like different breed, they are better at everything (Expect copy structure) 😢
Fr, my art teacher is Chinese and he was the artist (architect) of many famous placeses
Frr 😭

Omfg, my haters under my shorts used to have this pfp, ACTUALLY WHAT?
I got xiaohongshu some time back and it has significantly bettered my art (and there's actually art of my favorite character and not just reposts of the official art!!)
Is that the app name?
@@lunerlillyyeah, it’s 小红书/xiao hong shu
Xiao hong sha
every time i hear or even read "xiao hong shu" i got reminded of the yapping dollar that ended each video with "XIAO HONG SHUUUUUUU"
@@Yuxi_lixiii. thank you 😊 🙏 💓
Line art is cool but I discovered how to draw with texture brushes, mainly charcoal. Because it just opens up SOOOOO much more room for creativity instead of just using lines. And trying to get those perfect lines.
Imma steal some techniques from this for my drawings now. I like how you explained it a lot better than I would be able to normally understand. Thank you! :D
I swear chinese artist carry the Art community so hard🙏
Fr-
How
No, they absolutely don’t. For one thing, that’s highly disrespectful to every other artist in the world, and for another thing, the vast majority of “popular” Chinese artists work in the exact same style. They are talented for sure, but they aren’t really bringing anything new to the table.
@@ninja_tonyits not that deep I promise
It's actually not Chinese Pinterest if you talk about similarity. Huaban is more like pinterest, while xiaohongshu is like, instagram? (but I prefer xiaohongshu's layout heh)
I feel like its more like Chinese tiktok
@@Pikm0n3 nah its douyin
I feel like it’s a combination of Pinterest and instagram with TikTok’s layout
I always wondered how chinese artists manage to draw such beautiful, ethereal eyes, so thanks alot for covering this!
As for the usage of grey, I can only assume that it's because it's a neutral color that works well in many different color context. When you used grey for the red eyes, I noticed that it appears more bluish, whereas when you used it for Alhaitham's eyes, it appears more reddish. The contrast is subtle but readable enough somehow
I like this video because it is informative and gives me cool techniques and well as feels entertaining to watch! ❤❤❤
Bedroom eyes are called that because they are a specific type of look that you USUALLY would only give someone in the bedroom. They have nothing to do with being sleep deprived lol
Hi i would just like to say THANK YOU for doing videos showing examples and explaining Xiao Hong Shu tutorials, as a noob myself who just started digital drawing and wants to improve, idk how to analyze and understand the videos on Xiao Hong Shu as my reading skills in Chinese is not so good, these videos really inspire me to improve, i hope with time and practice, i can draw Genshin or any other characters just as good as u and chinese artists. (and btw your art is SO PRETTY, u are my new idol (as i just found your channel and i ady loved it since i saw the first one) , I hope u have a great day and year ahead)
I love how you just have been diving deep into tutorials for a language you barely understand. I did, and still do, the same with japanese artists. Its cool to learn language and some vocab while you learn art stuff.
They’re all so skilled 😭😭😭
0:10 is it just me or I see Childe there 😭
Same tbh
I thought that was chuuya 😭
This really my favorite content here I'm just loving it 🤗
The corner eye par5 is a tear duct and the red line is called the waterline. 🎀🎀🎀
I luv Chinese art styles they very beautiful and ethical
Too bad I can't get a heart. 😢
But must say that you make me believe it's not good idea to leave art. I love the fact that you explain these tuts because I was searching for them a lot and couldn't find it.
It felt like they were hiding this knowledge, but thanks to you I have got the spells ❤
You are just awesome. Every tutorial makes my day and I wish I could be surrounded by people like you. It's not just about making something, but putting a heart in it. Thank you so much!

Urgh I love you're videos
They're not only very informative but also super funny 😂❤❤❤
Hi, I recently found your RUclips channel and it is a jewel, (as well as the translators because my English is basic), I have always wanted to draw in the style of Chinese artists but I did not understand until I saw your videos, thank you very much for your work, greetings from Mexico.

you know you could just call that the tear ducts right? 😅 aaanyways, love your vids and humor! And damn you keep on getting better everytime!
Bedroom eyes are called like that because that's the look you give someone when you wanna go to the bedroom...to...uhhh... have smexy times with them lol
But anyways! Back on topic, I really like watching you break down these tutorials. It makes it easier when I try to do it myself too
Please do more art analysis video I'm enjoying them
I love how you kept to saying Lacrimal Caruncle instead of searching for the word's common name, "tear duct" 😭😂
I can tell you why they use grey. Not where it come from or why the technique is popular, but I can tell you that it is a neutralizer. By using greys, you soften the look of the whole painting and remove the attention on it so that the other details and colors can pop. It can also add a bit of depth. However, when you added Alhaithams rings on the iris, you should have made the pupil a bit darker again because the rings colors ended up unifying with the pupil, making it look like one piece. Atleast you should have darkened the outline of the pupil so that one can see that the pupil is there. You can see on the original tutorials that they always keep the outline of the pupil darker so you get better contrast between the color of the iris and pupils reflection (the grey). Yea, thats what the grey is, a reflection of light, you even mentioned it yourself in the previous tutorial video.
I wouldnt say that the new eye is better or worse than your old one. Its a different art style so it will feel different, and you may like that more and thats why you feel that its better. The important part isnt which is actually better, its what you learned from both that you can use in order to improve your work no matter what style you use that is important. We can contrast the negatives and positives between them to see what work. For one thing, I feel that I like the second ones skin colors more, it feel more alive, but the shadows might be too warm. So if you use the warm skin colors of the second eye and combine with the cooler shading of the first eye, I think you get a more pleasing contrast. Secondly, the eyelashes of the second feel more natural, but they are badly defined, so Id like to use the lash technique of the first but on the direction of the second. The waterline of the first, so stick with it. and as for the iris...The first look too much like a plate, while the second pictures iris look like light rays under water (neither good or bad but the coloring do look a bit immature and not very eye like) and the pupil stick out like a sore thumb.
Cool, thanks for sharing
grey is a contrast highlight color. as the color is neutral it can pull the intensity of any color its next to, to the forefront then its best to use as a contrast highlight color. just as you’re not supposed to use true black for shadows. there is no black in nature. it’s actually very dark blue or very dark brown. artist who still use black for shadows are you’re artist who haven’t been to art school. so there, that’s your free education trick right there.
I tried it with a little bit of tweak on it 😅 I was like "holy anchovies!!!" Yeah! I agree with you when it comes to using airbrush (normal) in Ibis Paint.
I have a question: what brush is that you using when you draw/ render in this video?
y so funny 😂 thank you!!
Good timing
It's soo prettyy 😍 the lineart, rendering everything 💖 what are the brushes that are used in this video?
8:02 "I dunno whh they do that. But it looks good so i'm not gonna question it." Made me subscribe😂

Actually, I have a question. Can you show us how to colour hair that has multiple colours of a character? Or is there a video for it already?
Bro I’m so happy I found xaiohong
When i saw this vid i instantly clicked to it 🔥
I can rely to your problem with the eye lashes... I am also having these problems xDD From time to time I try it again in hopes it looks better then....
in the end alhaitham looks like mike wazowski, i laughed so hard (its a beatiful eye)
my toxic trait is that i think I could do that, but my hands arent handing
Biblically accurate Alhaitham jumpscare 🤣🤣
What brush do u use for eye lashes
it’s called parallel i think .. why is this art so pretty?🥲💕
How do we even make an account there 😭
The lacrimal... Uhh, not a doctor is also called tear duct! (I think that's how it's spelled)
Ur Manderin pretty good
Your comments kill me, I swear! 😂❤😊 Halp! Edit: I've actually done that circle way to make eyes. It's actually an easier way to help your brain with eye placement because you use the full circle.
it's a biblically accurate Alhaitham
What brush did you use for the sketch/line art?
I am curious, what is the brush you use for base sketch and stuff or is it just dip pen? I was able to get through the process of base and drawing over with the dip pen hard but I was just curious.
0:07 ngl i see chuuya with the ginger hair one
Cool
I can only draw goblins and tornadoes idk why I'm watching this
Hi I'm new to your channel, please can you tell me the brush you used on your line art?
Chinese art is so underrated! It’s even better that Japanese art
tbh I get a little annoyed when I have to color using an airbrush, it really makes things difficult for me.
Genuine question, is there a specific name for this artstyle that I can type into Google for consistent results (to study from) or is it just "semi realism"?
uuuuh i need to ask u what brushes do u use :О
I use grey for skin😔😔
What are the brushes that you used? Especially the hatching
