Thanks for watching!
Ive NEVER been disappointed in opening ANY BOB video! He justs exudes grace!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE him
If not for Bob I would still be stuck in an abusive relationship. He and all of the generous folks sharing their lives and homes showed me what I could accomplish. Thanks, I so love no build builds. It's what I have done in my Airstream and I've been able to move things around as I need them. I'm hoping to move into a container that my friend is going to help me renovate into a home and everything in my Airstream can be used in my container home. My Airstream will become my craft and art room. I started as a nomad, but now live off grid out in the middle of nowhere on my friends property and I love it
No build builds are so clever, cost efficient, do-able, versatile and if you don't like it, just take it out. You can turn anything into a camper and then back again.... and you haven't even started to refine it yet. Campers cost a fortune, No builds cost literally nothing, or next to nothing - it's genius.
Loved the huge reclining chair! Greatest comfort in tiny space!
Potty.??
@@carolecarr5210 If you are going somewhere where you think you will need one [ I have one ]. I definitely have one, but if you want more than a plastic bag rigged with a seat - and I do, than don't make a mistake. Get the Thetaford [ spell check, lol ] anything else is false economy and a mistake I made myself in the past. But I would never have a shower, the road is very well equipped these days and a shower is a real pain in the ass.
@@carolecarr5210 5:09 she said she has “piddle pails” next to her stove stored under the bed.
@@carolecarr5210 If you would watch the full videos, these are all segments from those. Your issue is mandatory in Bob's videos and is always addressed. These are only short video segments!!!
The idea of screwing eyebolts into the plastic storage drawer and passing a dowel down to keep the drawers from sliding open while driving was great. I will use that one for sure.
You can also just put a bungee cord under the bottom of it, front middle, and run it to the top. Some people put a small hole to put the hook in. The bungee cord just goes in a drawer when you're boondocking. That's probably what I'm going to do.
Jon in rural BC, Canada
These are the videos that enabled me to take the leap, to just START and do my no build. Drawers and campstove I had, the metal bed, containers that fit exactly under the bed, etc. And I love it.
Yea! Another nomad on the road! He was who started the bug with me too. I have always been a nomad at heart but never thought of living on the road til I happened upon on one of Bob's vids. Really wish I would havd discovered him in my 20s!
Exactly
I love how KC has created a nice office space in her van. A no-build build is the way to go for me.
The 2 coffee table w/ plywood bed lady - that was a great idea.
Also I liked the your metal bed frame and the cabinet in-between your front seats 🎯💪👍.
Please do more videos of these "No build, Builds" 🥰.
Fave ideas: metal cot, plastic drawers, KC's eye screw and dowel drawer lock. Thank you!!
Great vid, Bob! All great builds but the lady with the big recliner is awesome. I think she and I are kindred spirits. I didn't inherit the female "gene" for decorating and am 100% function over form. That's the beauty of this lifestyle - simple but very fulfilling! 🥰
That was my favorite as well. I cannot sleep flat and a recliner is perfect. And when it's all tucked in it makes a great office chair.
My favorite idea was the metal eye screws in the plastic drawer unit with the wooden dowel through it to keep them from flying open while you travel.
I really loved the soft over-sized chair the one lady had that could also be made into her bed or lounging area! AMAZING!! :)
I love the Lazyboy chair/bed. It looks so comfy. 👍
Great selections! I especially appreciate video #2 as a fellow sewing and yarn hobbyist, because I am curious about how fellow crafters organize their spaces. Thank you for your work.
I LIKE THOSE CABINETS THEY HAVE , AND IM NOT THAT FOND OF ALL THOSE DRAWERS OFFICE DESK, I WOULDVE PUT A FULL KITCHEN IN. BUT OVERALL I LIKE HOW CLEAN THAT LADY WITH THE DRAWERS WAS YES ALL OF THEM ARE FANTASTIC!
Thanks for the Infos. People choose mostly mini vans even cars for they no build living vehicle. Interiors looks great and almost no money 💰 spent on this projects. I am looking to do that, but with the intention using a Cargo van. There is more space and they are not much expensive as a car. I am from Switzerland and we have sometimes ruff 🌡️ too, therefore my only building in my van will be a good isolation and something from IKEA. Keep going with your channel and good 🤞.
I liked the removal of the passenger seat (to a bed?) - haven’t had the courage to do it myself, even though I’m a solo traveler.
Yes, do it!👍 Then you will know. At worse, you reinstall it.🤗 Best of luck!
You may never see this Bob, but you were right. I bounced issues with vehicles in emails with you. I was looking for smaller better mileage, but you said, VAN! I didn't agree then, but have my van now. Its still under repair, but I know it was the right rig for me. Thanks.
What kind did you end up getting? Did it cost a lot? Thanks
This vid was a great idea! I'm sure a lot of people will find it helpful. Thanks, bob!
I love the "no build beds"
Greetings
So happy you did this.. I loved the super seater sleeper😴
That guest was so comfy... I could see myself out there with a 🚛 similar sleeper
Great service in the present situation in the USA. From Honduras ❤️ love your Dog‼️
“These are open houses no peaking” I love it 😂😂😂
I love the tours. It’s such a great idea.
Thanks!
Great video...now I have to find a good reliable van.
This really helped me a lot. Thank you!
Thanks that was great❣️
Thank you, what a great idea! I have watched all of the videos but came back for more! Getting ready to start on the third round in my shorty bus 😁👍👍🚐🚍
Where did you get the metal cot frame? I really like your ideas on the one you were building. Thx
awesome!
The last lady..How did she secure the dressers down?
The idea I'm probably going to use is the "storage pillow" for cloths. In general, why watch NetFlix, mindless crap, or fake "reality TV", when you can watch these informative DIY videos?
I need to ask, if one wanted to make the road their home & owned no property, how do you get both license plates & a driver's license?
Here’s the 4 main things I would say for picking a vehicle
1. Inside space ….sq ft
2. How easy to drive and park in a space(stealth)
3. Gas MPG cost 💰💰💰
4. Cost of the vehicle to start
Vans have become nonexistent in my area unless you order new from the stealership.
I love the no build builds. The personalities of the people shine through.
I liked the last lady turning the small bookcase upside-down was a great idea!
Metal bed frames are excellent. Good support, less mold issue, underbed storage. In a lowtop van I had to downsize from the 18" high to a 14" high to sit up w/o hitting my head(8" foam mattress). Plastic drawer cabinets also flexable and reuseable.
I absolutely love that you grouped different no-build builds together so that we could more easily pick up on great ideas. Each one was so helpful, and their ideas so clever. Thanks Bob and banners for showing us your ideas!
I especially liked the eye screw with a dowel through it to block the drawers from opening‼️🤗🤗
@@suellenmedley512 yes, that one was really awesome! I have those plastic drawers. Always wondered how I'd keep them from sliding out when I put them into my old minivan! Glad someone else really likes that idea too! 🤗
I thought the same things. It was a little class we just took on how to/DIY on "No Build" vehicle houses. Nice pointers I've learned. Of course a composting toilet is another great items to have.
Bob you just have done so much and I love you for it, brother. Thanks to everyone in this video who shared their home and no builds, trust me you changed someone's life today in doing so!
Correct! I don't understand why orgs & people with money aren't showering it on H.O.W.A. It's bringing people back to life.
These types of videos really make me believe I could do this! I am a single woman with no carpentry talent and no friends who could do that kind of work. Seeing how happy and peaceful these van dwellers are ALMOST makes me envious. But I'd rather be happy for them. 😊
I remember KC! Everyone loves her! Is she still working with you, Bob? Love her no-build ideas. I have those plastic drawers, and I'm so grateful that she showed us how she keeps them "locked". Genius!
I'm so sick of seeing elaborate, beautiful fan builds. That's all on social media mainly targeting millennials who seem most interested in the visions. But this is realistic and this is what got me into van life. I'm not about the glamour. I'm about living freely and happy. Thank you again Bob, I'm currently working on my van.
I remember when I was researching all this and was so disheartened because all I was seeing at that time in the RTR and Jamie's van builds was super complicated (to me) carpentry, electrical, solar, expensive fridges, etc.. Knowing there was just no way I could ever afford any of that, didn't want to have to learn it myself., and wasn't physically capable of the work itself. That no build build video you did with the cot was the first one I ever saw and was the first time I had any hope that I could ever do this! Now I'm planning a SUV build for myself with just the basics, and everything portable and non permanent. So thankful for all your research and information!
The cot bed is how mine is. But I put the bed on the passenger side so I have fast/easy access from the driver seat to the back open area for the potty without having to go around the van.
Thats what I'm thinking too,, the passenger side. Currently I just have a tri-fold mattress on the floor and a few plastic drawers but with the metal bed frame I could double my storage space.
Good Idea
My favorite is the giant recliner, mostly because I need to sleep in a reclined position or I can't sleep. But I weigh too much for most recliners, and even the ones supposedly built for big people that should more than take my weight don't usually have robust enough parts, so even they'll bend.
I made my own reclining bed, but that's a build.
My favorite idea was the Stratolounger in the van. I could make do with a chair and a half recliner, but that Stratolounger would double as my bed and my office.
I liked the mini van build best, but the one where she made the dogs bed in the front seat was superb. I have a Chihuahua that until she dies or i do we will be together. Now i just need to get the vehicle. it is harder to save than it seems
I'm new to this channel and totally loving what I see!
The neatest thing I saw in this whole thing that took my breath away the moment I saw it, was the eye screws and dowel drawer lock!!
This video just leapt me a Lot closer to doing a No Build. Thank you.
I realized that doing some of these options would make my build easier and less daunting. Thanks.
I love any time KC is on camera. Her no-build build has long been one of my favorites.
Saw the first very nice lady's build a while back and thought it was absolutely ingenious! Especially love the fan in the door, the white vinyl and her use of the plastic cabinetry.
Just bought a minivan for my husband and me to camp in. We won't be fulltime, and just starting out with weekends. Can't wait to get setup! Love all the videos with ideas
I don't have my camper-van yet, but I HAVE gotten most of the items (cooking/kitchen stuff camping gear) I want to carry in it...it's in 2 plastic storage bins marked "Camping" and it's ready to go in the camper-van when I get it (but, that may be 3 years the earliest). BTW, I don't want to own TWO vehicles, so my camper-van will ALSO be my Daily Driver...for me, that's the only way I can justify it's expense (I'm looking at an "old school design" pop-top type Class B Pleasure-Way "Tofino," even if it's not a "full-service/full-amenities" Class B as we usually know them).

Love no build builds great as usual bob
The raised bed across in the back of the van gives great privacy and ample storage underneath. Would choose that concept.
There is a lot of air space in vans and I would set up storage nets under the roof to maximize space.
the recliner! I have not been able to sleep without half-sitting in a decade. a bed is a nuisance and space -eater IMHO. A van with a recliner is my dream home.
Mine too. I cannot sleep flat and I always need my head to be slightly lifted up so a recliner is perfect, saves my back, and when it's all tucked in it's a great office chair.
I love the plastic totes, they are great for everything! Keep it light and simple.
Bob thank you for all the hard work you put into your channel to bring these wonderful videos to us I'm happy to say I took your advice years ago I hope everybody else does life is good........
What an awesome, useful, informative video. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Thanks for this no build video Bob. I especially love the no build “Low Top Van” tour with Julia and her channel is called “Uncivilize”. I have never seen such a cozier van and it somehow appears to have so much floor space available. I love that she has a super cozy bed for her large dog Bambi especially because so many nomads travel with their furry companions its just as important to give your best friend a comfy home. Julia is such a creative person and everyone should check out her channel and her creations.
I love the van with the huge chair. Looks comfy for day and night use. I am always impressed with the builds. So creative and so demonstrative of each person‘s courage to live on their own. Thanks, Bob, and to those who shared their creative homes. 😎✌️💕
Great Video my van is a no-build, works well.
I love these no build videos!
I like the plywood on cabinets for beds! Love that idea
great video Bob. Very helpful. I love the recliner in the back of the cargo van.
I love this video: so informative. Each of the vans are designed to each owner’s personality and needs, and all are ingenious. One thought that keeps cropping up though is weight. Although a lot of the equipment is lightweight, nevertheless when all the spare space, cupboards and drawers are full, can all that extra weight actually be a hindrance to driving, not to mention a drain on gas consumption?
Research and look up the specs for your vehicle. To find out how much weight of your belongings you want to put in the cargo area, you take the TARE weight from the ATM weight. That will let you know how much you can add to your vehicle.
And it's always good keep in mind to put most of your heavier weight items over your axles. 🤔 Might want to check w someone who has experience in thesematters, before actually putting very much of anything heavy in your vehicle. Now on the bigger vans it may not matter so much as on the smaller ones.
Thank you so much for this video! I loved seeing all the different ideas one after another. Great video!
I really like your video Bob, bc I like the cot idea. I watched that video when U put it out about how to level it w/ pvc piping. Anyone young or old experienced or not could do that. It levels the cot & then supplies the space underneath for storage. Even simpler is the idea of using a board on top of short sets of drawers for a bed. No tools involved.
These videos are always inspiring and motivating thank you Bob
Happy Mother's Day everyone with children and pets! 💐And to those who care for children and animals in any given situation. Thank you!
I was impressed how well your guests reimagined pieces to solve issues -- turning a bathroom shelf upside down so there was a lip, that things could not slip off of. Pretty smart!
That oversized recliner is the best no build I have seen.
Thank you! I loved them all. I really liked the last ladies van. She only did it for less then 200. It was nice! I have a minivan and still trying to figure out how it will be best. I love the No Build Build ❣️
I like the upside down shelf and the coffee table bed base. Great ideas! Tfs!
Bob, you’re amazing & I appreciate all the information & wisdom you share! Truly an inspiration!
Bob's idea of using a cot for a bed in a previous video is perfect. I used cots in 2 previous vans. Lets see....A cot, a sleeping bag, propane stove, jerry cans, a rug. Plastic box with lids to put all the little stuff in (and their waterproof). Done! Now you have a great camping van or even a station wagon if you can find one.
I don't have my glasses on and thought you said Bob used a cat for a bed then you said you used 2....I was like WTH rofl
@@jhemnes1 that got me laughing!!! I do cat rescue & its usually the other way around!!!
I love the wheel well drawer!
Wow, that was helpful. I especially like the second one. I learned some stuff I never would have thought of. Thank you so much. Fantastic video! 👍😁
Those was awesome 👌 👏
I have some really great solutions.
I love that the last lady got alot of her things from second hand stores.. definitely a me thing to do.. 😆
Who needs an RV??? If it is just 1 or 2 people a van is ideal....this is perfect.
The eye hooks with a dowel to keep drawers closed was very clever.
Hey, Bob! Your No-Build Minivan Build was essentially the blueprint for my Van Build, your video was a HUGE help! Thank you tons!
Takes up a lot of room but I loved the Comfort of that Lazy Boy. Must be a great sleeper :)
I saw her in the original video.
She’s a hoot and very creative in the way she’s arranged her van.
Good idea to have an ‘open house’ so we can see all the configurations…
Looking forward to the next video.
I was worried it wouldn't be comfy/ergonomic to sleep on
Perfect timing!! I’m building my no build cargo trailer right now. Thank you 🙏
I like the idea of custom building your home. I wanted to do it but my husband bought this chevy winnebago conversion and the space utilization isn't very efficient. We have a VCR/TV combo hardwired into the floor in the center console, but the TV is tube style and analog so it's not a functional device and we don't have the ability to remove it and swap it out for, say, a refrigerator, which would be really useful. Then there's two bucket seats and the back bench/full bed. He wouldn't dream of allowing anything to be tampered with because this baby is a classic! So everything must stay in its original configuration. Thus, there's virtually no place to store extra water, battery power and if we wanted to sleep in it, we'd have to have a tent off to the side to store our gear while we're using the back because there just isn't space to stretch out and store cargo. Otherwise we'd be constantly searching for the stove, the groceries, the clothes, etc. I could live in this van as a single person, but not very well. I couldn't stealth camp because it's a classic and it stands out. And I couldn't boondock for long because there's no room for a kitchen at all and not much space to pack in water or pack out my waste. He won't allow the installation of solar panels to the roof, so air conditioning is out of the question. So last summer, when we drove cross country, he still required a hotel room because it was 90° outside and he couldn't sleep. So we ride in style, but we do not sleep in it, ha ha!
When I was shopping for a new used vehicle to live in, I so wanted a high or mid top vehicle,a cargo van, I'm 5'7" on bad days and a good sized woman ,64 with severe osteoarthritis bone on bone knees but wasnt in the cards for me. I had to settle, time was imperative, on a 2010 Honda Odyssey. I envisioned a skinny bed,I sleep on my side anyway, and a lil space along the side to walk ,hunched over .Nope, not in this life.
10:48 I love that huge chair! It's almost big enough for a football player! I'm surprised the arms are comfy, most chairs I slept/laid in that way, my neck wasn't so happy after! I'd say the chair and I never heard of storage pillows. Def something I can use.
I love this series. My favorite is the recliner chair/ bed. Awesome!
This is really helpful! We are dreaming of a van build soon and I would never have thought of some of these ideas.
Thank you Bob, you're right. These people did have ideas that made me think a little differently about a build. Awesome idea. Shout out to all willing to allow us to see and share with us 🇺🇸.
I would want the van where you could stand up like a utility van! None of them told us how they go the bathroom! I think I could deal with everything but the bathroom! I have to get up at 6:30 in the morning sometimes ready to go to the bathroom! I would have to have a commode that’s tall!
I like the idea of the iron bed frame as opposed to building a wooden one.
I’m curious about the metal bed..what was the purpose of the pvc pipe around the legs? Thank you for your great videos. I bought my van, now getting more ideas!
Here's the original video... ruclips.net/video/25VBk8AOqRQ/видео.html Your question will be answered there. It's pretty genius and worth a watch.
The video is worth watching. Basically, most minivans have uneven floors, the pipe is cheap and can be cut with a $2 saw, to achieve the desired length. Demonstrating that you don't have to be a carpenter.
@@championslayers thank you so much! Makes perfect sense
Liked the storage unit drawers used as a base for the bed idea the best!!!! Thanks for the information.
Life could be simple but we insist in complicate it
What a great video. Really great ideas. Can't wait for the other categories. Loved the wood on top of the cabinets to make the bed. Simple to pull out a drawer to access items rather than pulling things out from under a cot.
Bob...Getting closer to doing a no-build as a new Nomad and appreciate these Open House videos. I know I've seen several of these before, (found CRVL a few years back), but it was nice having them in a condensed version as I get closer to my first trip.
I love the idea of using tables for her bed on the last build. I was going round in circles for a bed build that would give me open space underneath. I’m using this plan!
tried 1/2 plywood for bed base BUT TOO HARD
The decorative pillowcases stuffed with extra seasonal clothes is genius. Also milk crates instead of plastic droors is an adaption idea.
