Freddie Mercury wrote, produced and directed the recording of this, just the way he wanted it ! The man was a musical genius.
co-produced
Lol, he wasn't. He was a good singer, that's all
@@garri5108 you need to check yourself...you obviously have NO clue
@@purewarrior63 listen to more music and your point of view will change
The mediocre will never recognize, will only criticize
The record company thought Freddie was nuts wanting to do a rock OPERA song! They said it was too long and no one would play it. They were wrong...Freddie was right.
Kenny Everett played it in full twice in a row........made it a hit.
There is no explanation for this song other than it's a masterpiece all from the mind of Freddie Mercury and performed by Queen!
Brian May wrote the guitar solo for Bohemian Rhapsody
@@RoverWaters it is hard to argue with genius of Dr. May!
The intro to the song is just multilayer harmonies of freddies voice.
Yep - but Brian and Roger did contribute later... and everyone loves to see the "choir" and believe it -- ! lol
If you ask somebody to name a Queen song, this would probably be the first one they would think of. Song and Freddie pure theatre, superb!
The first part is Freddie by himself! It’s a five part harmony that he recorded and overlayed it.
True, it was only Freddie's voice doing the harmony.
Wayne’s world - the movie that introduced queen to a whole new generation! Me and my two boys love to blast this in the car and sing at the top of our lungs! Good times!
These 4 guys finished their uni degrees, had careers outside of music and each of them wrote hit songs. Freddie was the genius behind this, the first ever rock opera.
Fun fact: Lead guitarist Brian May is a PROFESSOR OF ASTROPHYSICS.
I have listened to my share of reviews and reactions on RUclips. This is the first time I have ever heard I have ever heard any of those use an actual musical term (creshendo). Kudos to you, sir.
It's also the first time I've seen a reactor jumping back and forth exercising and playing other music at the same time!
Freddie Mercury is the sole creator of Bohemian Rhapsody. He was a funny and flippant person on the outside but complex and insecure individual on the inside, always trying to square up his actual life with his childhood. He put a lot of himself into that song though he never explained the lyrics to anyone, not even his bandmates.
Luckily, his band members trusted his vision for this song because they never heard all of the song before they began recording it. He would just play parts of the song on the piano for them, then stop to explain that something operatic would happen here and so on. He had it all worked out in his head including all the harmonies in his head.
The famous a cappella intro is only Freddie singing. He laid down 5 separate tracks of himself singing and harmonizing with himself. For the grand chorale, the group layered 160 tracks of vocal overdubs (using 24-track analog recording), with Mercury singing the middle register, guitarist Brian May the low register, and drummer Roger Taylor the high register (John Deacon was on bass guitar but did not sing).
Freddie had a vivid imagination and it is reflected in the language he used in his lyrics. Scaramouche was a buffoonish character in 16th-century comedy commedia dell’arte shows and Beelzebub is an archaic name for Satan. Bismillah is Arabic for "In the name of God" or "In the name of Allah" and is the first word in the Qu'ran. (Freddie was born on the island of Zanzibar off the coast of Africa and educated at British boarding schools in India, so his experience with cultures was unique. )
That is a very good overview about the creation of the song. Freddie did sing lower, middle and higher parts of the song. The lowest notes he sang was G2 sections and he also did G5 sections. Freddie sang 3 octaves in the song, which is something you don't see that often.
Thank you Debra for that wonderful information honoring Freddie's musical genious.
Beelzebub means lord of the flies!
@@mammasrose5525 Actually,. Ba'al Zebub or Beelzebub was occasionally known as the Lord of the Flies. It s a name derived from a Philistine god, formerly worshipped in Ekron, and later adopted by some Abrahamic religions as a major demon. The name Beelzebub is associated with the Canaanite god Baal.
In theological sources, predominantly Christian, Beelzebub is another name for Satan. He is known in demonology as one of the seven deadly demons or seven princes of Hell, Beelzebub representing gluttony and envy. The Dictionnaire Infernal describes Beelzebub as a being capable of flying, known as the "Lord of the Flyers", or the "Lord of the Flies".
@@Sassypaws4927 Thank you!😊 I always love learning new things! I wasn’t saying that using it as a name for the devil was wrong, sorry if that’s how it came across.🥰
What is the other song in the background? Annoying to have 2 things going at once.
Most definitely. I'm so glad somebody mentioned it Because I didn't understand why it was there. That background noise has no business being on any reaction
Freddie wrote this - it was originally 3 different incomplete songs he combined into this masterpiece.
1 Diss track by them is “Death on Two Legs” - studio version is best. 🔥🎶🔥 You can hear the venom in Freddie’s voice.
Don't forget Back Chat, John Deacon's diss track of Brian May, lol...
It’s called “singing”. Freddie is called “talent.” God given talent.
I have never heard “massaging the lyrics” before, but that was a perfect way of putting it
Freddie Mercury conceived, composed and directed this song from beginning to end. Their record label didn't want to record it, they said it was too long at 11 minutes. They said no one would listen to a Rock Operetta. Queen said we record it, or we walk. Well obviously record executives don't know everything
One of the record company executives suggested it should be edited to make it shorter. He said he got a two word reply. 😂
The best rock song ever written!
This is a master piece written by Freddie
You planning on actually listening?
Lost me at 3:30 ..
This is the best one. This is a tragic sting of so many lives. Yes, it’s rock opera! Mercury was a genius who knew music! ❤
My favorite group of all time!!
All I can hear is another song in the background, I can cope with the pausing if you are truly listening to the song, but I get the feeling you are not invested in the reaction to this Queen song.
agree
His ego is too much to listen to good music. 😒
Beelzebub is a powerful demon ruler, and says he has the devil for a disciple
Freddie said he liked the word Beelzebub.
I think it represents Roger. 😉
You say Freddie like the word Beelzebub. It's so sad when people like Freddie don't realize what they are doing when they flaunt they don't believe in God. If he did, he would have never liked the name of a demon. Now he knows, and I'm sure he regrets scuffing at Gods free gift of Jesus.

Queen Freddie is one of the Rock Gods. He lived his entire life devoted to the beauty and unity of music. LONG LIVE QUEEN FREDDIE!!
I've never seen someone multitask during a reaction. Lol.
Him hollerin to his mama that he didn't mean to hurt her (make her cry) is so sad, telling her to act as if it didn't matter that he threw his life away (murder) is so sad! It really pulls at your heart strings.
I have watched loads of his reactions and really enjoyed them. I struggled to get through this one - what's the problem? Why are you being so irritating?
Cuz we all know this wasn't his first listen.
This isn't his first time, he did a car reaction to it a while back.
Thanks. I thought so too...yeah in the car.
Yes, he says during the reaction that that's where he's heard it before.
Been a huge fan since 1974 im 77 years old now and can never get tired of Queen and Beloved Freddie.
Freddy saw the Wayne's World bit, he immediately approved of it as it was done in the exact spirit of the band
We're not worthy of Freddie, but every track is most certainly #MostExcellent.
I think its your turn to watch Queen at Live Aid 1975! Its stupendous. You will feel as if you are actually there at the concert! Piece of trivia : a ticket for the entire day cost just £25, press had to pay £100
I rember a friend introducing Queen to me and a few others . We were well versed in progressive rock but Queen blew our minds .
The opening part with the four heads that you referred to as "perfect harmony" is actually Freddie Mercury singing all four parts of the harmony, compare it to the operatic section in the middle and you'll hear the difference.
Freddie did the whole masterpiece! He had trouble with with his label too putting it out cus they knew radios didn’t wanna play such long songs but he wouldn’t have it any other way so he found someone who would eventually and the rest it history👌🏼❤️😎
Freddie Mercury : There can be only one. ❤
Omg this is your dad! Where have I been lol Sweet honey ice tea
Freddy Mercury wrote amd created the whole song the guitar solo was approved by him too
* Freddie
This song is all Freddie! His masterpiece!
Freddie put this song together !! He’s a genius ..
Hahaha! My man, you saw Wayne's World! That shit is CLASSIC!
I love that subtle modulation of amplitude as well! He can do anything he wants and every move is brilliant.
Freddie mercury isn't just a singer...he's a musical god
“Hey, Crab Man.”
“Hey, Earl.”
Freddie Mercury wrote and put it together. And yes, he was definitely a genius.
Gr8 job getting van to react to this jojo, ur ganna have to teach him up on queen and Freddy Mercury.
* Freddie
Please turn that background music and show some respect.
Are you stopping it so much to avoid getting blocked? I did not enjoy this reaction. Just being honest.
Hellooo jenny
@@elantonelle 👋
Pauses too many times .... x
You should see the clip from Queen Rock Montreal 1981 of the drummer, Roger Taylor singing and drumming his song I'm In Love With My Car. Dude's an absolute beast
Best music channel on youtube.
Freddie did not like to explain his songs, he preferred that people interpret his songs, but the people closest to him say that Bohemian Rhapsody explains Freddie's transition from heterosexuality to the awareness of being homosexual and therefore having "killed" the man he was and his previous life with Mary Austin (first part of the song where he plays the piano), his interest in men (second part of the song in opera style), finally his starting to have relationships with men ( third rock part of the song) MASTERPIECE 💖
I like your knowledge of musical theory.
once Kanye West tried to sing this song xD lol try the song called .. I want it all - QUeen or Somebody to Love - Queen Montreal 1981 Montreal
I just really love good sound!
The is Freddie Mercury’s masterpiece!
Freddie Mercury never did anything halfway through it was all or nothing. He wanted this song like this. 😎😉😜🎵🎶🎸 Freddie Mercury had a love for the opera he liked including it in his work. Freddie didn't want to be stuck in one category he like to be adventurous. Showing he could do more then rock and roll. He liked Michael Jackson, and Elvis. Jimi Hendrix. 🎵🎶 Freddie Mercury played piano since he was 7 years old. I love how Brian may makes that electric guitar sing 🎸🎵🎶
Freddie was a unique individual with a great voice and was a pioneer in musical arrangements
This song was originally released in 1976..peaked at no. 9.then released in 1992 as a part of the soundtrack to the movie wages world..peaked at no.2. One of those once in a generation songs.
Yes it is Awesome!
...but after the intro the harmonies were Freddie, Brian May (guitarist) and Roger Taylor (drummer)
All 4 members sing this harmony. They all had vocals in school, Roger Taylor is the highest of the high notes.- Ok that’s not true, lol.
Having a great convo about it though.....still learning....🎼
The begining harmony was just freddy overlaying himself.
...well I missed that memo, thanks.....👍😎
@@geoffsullivan7902 iirc he over layed about 12 times, for each line, each being slightly different to make a much broader sound. Then put each line in order, all overlapping them, to produce that segment.
There is a documentary with Brian may, where is sits down in a studio with the original recordings and he shows how they produced it.
Here it is

Bahahaha. My first time hearing was on Wayne’s World also! Excellent! 🤣
He said this prally a diss track😂🤣👏👏
"This is probably a diss-track right here...." lmmfao! I'm dead! 🤣🤣💀💀💀💀😹😹🥳🥳
3:35 "I'd be surprised if he ain't doin' this by his damn self!"
YOU WIN THE PRIZE!😁
Because Freddie WAS doing that 5-part acapella harmony at the beginning, BY HIMSELF😄 (Even tho the video shows all the band members lip syncing.)🖖
This isn't like rap. The person who put it together is Freddy Mercury and the rest of Queen.
If you like percussion, check out rolling stones
"Can you hear me knocking" It's fantastic rock/jazzy
Lol I like how your dad couldn’t finish doing his exercises cuz the music kept drawing him back in. 👍🏼
Brian May on guitar
Too many pauses aaaaaarrrggghh, it's agonizing !
Freddie did it.
It’s a story you must follow. Concentrate on the song. The music changes as the story develops. ❤
Brian May wrote the guitar solo for Bohemian Rhapsody
Please learn the words and the back story of this song. It's worth the journey.
Nobody knows the meanings behind the song. Brian has said freddy took it to his grave.
I personally think it was about him wanting to come out.
New here... your Dad has the ear 🤘🏻
He naturally picks up on the dynamics of this song. Does he have any of his work on YT ? On the off chance he doesn’t... tell him to get behind the boards !!! With some time , he could record some awesome stuff !!!!
You have a great family man. What a blessing...
Masterpiece of Freddie who fought to have it a single because it's too long!
I watch you other reactions, Led Zeppelin the most, but this reactions ...oh...I cannot
What a great first run narration. Love your style!
I think the word you are looking for is "musicality". Using all the things, tone, pitch, entonation, emotion, dynamics, everything to fully use the notes.
Wayne's world!! Wayne's world!!
This video was made during the GlamRock period.
Hey this is ALL FREDDIE MERCURY!!! The music, lyrics, arrangements, the whole nine yards. Wish you had given the respect the song deserves, next time listen all the way through.
Queen fans may want to skip this one. He's more interested in hearing himself talk than listening to the music.
:-) this reminds me of me trying to get my ADHD mom to listen to some song back in the day. But that's the thing about reactions, if they're honest then you can't predict or control how someone else is going to react.
little too much talk from pops....love the channel though
freddie put this song together. there is actually a funny story: during recording layering all those vocals over and over and over they almost wore out and tore the tape they were recording on and almost lost the mastering because there were so many vocal tracks layered.
The great mind of Freddie Mercury!!
It's about someone dealing with what he did.
Those outfits were all the fashion for rock stars in the 70s
The opening is only Freddie multi tracked.
I love when someone reacts to the amazing vocals of this masterpiece but to pause during every single sentence it kinda ruins the flow and the vibe. Not saying don’t pause but maybe hear an entire line first at least.
It was the 70's and the 70's fashion!!!
I feel like I hugged you at Christmastime in my heart, even though we'll never meet in this life.
This was released in 1975
Yes! Classic Wayne's world scene
Freddie Wrote the Song !

I can hear the song playing in the backround..maybe turn your other sing off..it ruined the ending..lol..
