I dont remember battleships being mentioned in vanilla m19 but there is tons of chatter over comms. I usually target the laser first regardless because of the danger it posed to myself. You should try playing Project Wingman. I'm not saying its better but it is very reminiscent of AC7 and the AoA delimiter is really fun to mess around with.
